Introducing Norgren Irrigate Norgren Irrigate is a precision farming management system that allows its users to monitor, analyse, control and automate the operation of indoor farms. The solution is built with scalability in mind, having various modules that allow customers to mix and match features that best suit their every day farming needs. This opens up opportunities to achieve the best yield ratio, while reducing cost of ownership. It is also compatible with a wide variety of environment and crop monitoring sensors, providing real time data on the effectiveness of recipe adopted.

The irrigation module uses real time data from sensors to automatically irrigate crops. This reduces water lost through evaporation, whilst keeping soil sufficiently moist for optimum growth. The light module captures the light source wavelength, automatically tuning LEDs to produce the right composition of light needed for every growth stage. The ex-control module enables control via PLC over Modbus TCP or ERP system through Application Programming Interface (API) calls.

04  Norgren Irrigate

The Norgren Irrigate system as a standalone, allows the management and visualisation of multiple racks from the Norgren Cloud, while automating irrigation, lighting and ventilation control on the edge. Norgren Cloud is equipped with pre-built dashboards, prediction algorithms for yield ratio improvement suggestions and equipment maintenance that is updated continually. The ex-control add-on module enables the connection of irrigate microcontrollers to the PLC network. This enables the PLC to interact with the microcontrollers, performing manual override and visualising data from SCADA system.

LIGHTING CONTROL

» The sensors regularly acquire data.

» Controlling the solenoid valve to start and stop the pump to achieve various irrigation modes such as automatic irrigation, time-based irrigation, and manual irrigation.

» Controlling the wavelength composition of LED light source. Enable various control mode such as automatic tuning, time-based tuning and manual tuning.

» Controlling the CO2, temperature and humidity level, through forced ventilation. Enables various control modes such as automatic ventilation, time-based ventilation and manual ventilation.

» Calculates the time needed for soil to reach desired moisture level for submerged bath.

» If the irrigation system fails - water pipe rupture, no water pressure or sensor, motor or solenoid valve failure - the fault warning light will flash and the alarm will beep. The solenoid valve will close, and the pump will stop running immediately.

» Measure nutrient levels, air dryness, temperature, CO2 levels, soil moisture, light wavelength, light intensity and power consumed.

» Propose irrigation, lighting and ventilation intervals. » Calculates the nutrient water consumed by crop. » Identifies hotspot on rack that dries up faster than others. » Correlating humidity, soil moisture level and evaporation rates. » Propose hotspot compensation.
