What is the role of the Italian highschool in creating cultural routes?

What is the goal?

The goal is to simulate a real tourist route planning activity through different steps, during which specific skills can be developed in students: Step 1: training. More than 10 hours of formation about meaning of cultural, natural and intangible heritage, landscape enhancement, sustainable tourism, local wine and food, soft mobility and tourist route planning.

Step 2: route planning. More than 15 hours of route planning, including remote search about accommodation and mobility services compatible with sustainability.

Step 3: creation of final products. More than 15 hours to realize a realistic sustainable touristic route, improving informatic skills using video making software, word processor, online GIS.

Step 1: training.

Thanks to tutor of NGO’s “Italia Nostra” students have been trained both with live sessions (also with local stakeholders) and through webinair about meaning of cultural, natural and intangible heritage, landscape enhancement, sustainable tourism, local wine and food, soft mobility and tourist route planning.

At the end of this step we measured the skills level through a final test.

Step 2: route planning.

First of all, together with students, we chose the route and the target group for it.

Then we searched online about accommodation and mobility services compatible with sustainability.

Finally, we built the complete route, including in the “Travel details” timing, prices, distances and basic informations.

Step 3: creation of final products. once the route was planned, we made the final products, including infographic, travel details, promo video and online map.

Prizes and awards In the previous edition, the work won an award in a local Chamber of Commerce contest.

The school used this money to reward students, offering them a two-day trip to Naples and Vesuvius, together with their teachers and tutor.
