ConfirmaSon
by IJS1954
On Saturday 10 June, our Year Six children will receive the Sacrament of ConfirmaEon.

The gih of the Holy Spirit received at ConfirmaEon gives people a deeper iniEaEon into the ChrisEan community and strengthens the gihs they received at BapEsm. A ChrisEan receives all the basic spiritual gihs needed to relate with God and to live as Jesus taught through BapEsm and ConfirmaEon. The two sacraments are linked. The promises made during BapEsm are repeated during ConfirmaEon to make the link between these sacraments clear. In ConfirmaEon, candidates make these promises for themselves, whereas when they were bapEsed as babies, these promises were made on their behalf by their parents and godparents.
This year, Infant Jesus Parish will warmly welcome Archbishop Costelloe who will be presiding over each ConfirmaEon Mass assisted by Fr Greg.
The Sacrament of ConfirmaEon is the celebraEon of our anoinEng, our ‘commissioning’ by the Holy Spirit to love as Jesus loved. We are ‘sealed with the Gih of the Holy Spirit’. The Gihs of the Holy Spirit - Wisdom, Counsel, Piety, Understanding, Knowledge, ForEtude and Fear of the Lord are the life of Jesus within us. We also share the fruits of the Spirit - Joy, Peace, PaEence, Kindness, Goodness, Trusaulness, Gentleness and Self-control in following the example of Jesus.
Tomorrow, the Year Six children conEnue their preparaEon at the ConfirmaEon Retreat at Infant Jesus Parish.
