For parents to be acEvely involved they need up to date informaEon on their child's schooling. SEQTA Engage provides this informaEon with one click of a mouse! SEQTA Engage is a web portal, allowing parents and students to log on to the Infant Jesus School's Learning Management System (SEQTA), at any Eme and on any device.
How to reset a forgoYen password:
1. Go to the Infant Jesus School Website homepage - hYps://infantjesus.coneqt-p.cathednet.wa.edu.au
2. From the SEQTA Engage login page, click the Forgot your password? opEon.
3. Enter in your email address. If SEQTA has an account associated with this email address, it will send you further informaEon to assist in accessing your account.
4. Then click reset my password.
5. If your username and email address are correct and if SEQTA can find an account with those details, you will receive an email directly from SEQTA with further instrucEons.
6. Please go to your email to retrieve instrucEons on how to reset your password.
Follow the link in the email to reset your password. The link is only acSve for ONE HOUR. If you need any further assistance with this, please contact the school for further informaEon.
Staying healthy in Winter 2023
The season of winter commenced yesterday. Winter is ohen a welcome change in Western Australia aher our long, hot summers. But while we live in a temperate climate, winter in most parts means significant drops in temperatures, greater rainfall and storms. Several health condiEons are specifically associated with the climaEc condiEons during our coldest season. If Your Child Is Unwell
Children who have an influenza-like-illness or COVID-19 should not aYend school unEl they are well. Parents should not send their child to school if they are unwell.
Flu like symptoms include - fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose or nasal congesEon.
COVID like symptoms include - fever, cough, runny nose or nasal congesEon, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste. Children should stay away from school unEl they are completely recovered.
Reinforce Hygiene Messages
Children should be told there are simple steps that they can take to help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illness such as influenza. These include:
• Wash hands frequently (alcohol-based hand cleaners are useful if soap and water is not easily accessed), especially aher coughing and sneezing.

• Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth.
• Cover your nose and mouth with a Essue when coughing or sneezing and dispose of the Essue in a rubbish bin aherwards.
• Avoid contact with people who are unwell.
Cyber Safety
On Wednesday 9 August 2023 at 6PM, we will be hosEng Paul Litherland, a renowned cyber-safely speaker and owner of Surf Online Safe.
Paul is very much in demand as his ability to share his knowledge and experEse in this area is always very engaging and informaEve. His presentaEons include cyber bullying, digital ciEzenship, online footprint, social networking and networking in general, online gaming, website use and many Eps and tricks to ensure all are kept safe.
Parents who have aYended previously are very welcome as more current informaEon will be shared, and technology is changing every day.

WA Day 2023, Monday 5 June, is a day to celebrate all Western Australians and recognises everyone who has made and conEnues to make, Western Australia their home. We reflect and celebrate all the great things about our people, our lifestyle, our culture and our future.


AFendance
School aYendance maYers as early as kindergarten. Children who regularly aYend school have opportuniEes to socialise, problem solve, and learn in an enriched environment. Studies show that children who miss too many days in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary, struggle academically in later years. It only takes one absence every two weeks for aYendance to be concerning as learning is missed. AYend today and achieve for a lifeEme.
Parents and caregivers can help by -
• Making sure your child aYends school every day unless they are ill
• Having a regular morning rouEne that helps your child prepare for school
• Solving any problems your child is having at school with their teacher as early as possible
• Planning vacaEons during non-school days
• Scheduling your child’s dental and medical appointments at the end of the school day

This year we are working in partnership to assist children in further developing their spelling skills and knowledge using the Soundwaves Spelling resource across the school. The focus for Year 1 to Year 6 for next week and Week 8 is -

The grapheme mm for m mm mb is seen in the middle of words, aher short vowel sounds (e.g. mammal, summer).

The grapheme eye in the word eye is an unusual way to represent i_e y igh i ie
· i_e y igh i ie is also the name of the leYer i.
When discussing i_e y igh i ie with students, always clarify you are talking about the phoneme, not the leYer name. For example, say ‘Which words have the sound i_e y igh i ie ?’ instead of ‘Which words have i_e y igh i ie ?’
