IGSC Joins First Virtual VRSCC

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the GSP - Visayas Region held its first-ever virtual Regional Senior and Cadet Conference via Zoom on February 13, 202. Under the theme of "Create Awareness for a Better World", it gathered 110 girls from the 14 councils of Visayas Region.

As pictured in this year's event-logo, the Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts come together like puzzle pieces to overcome and break barriers in order to raise awareness for a better world.
The Opening Ceremony was followed by sessions on mental health with Janette Jane Pasicaran, BA in Physcology, University of The Philippines - Cebu. She stressed on the importance of mental health validating the different emotions felt as a matter of selfawareness and self-love.
This was followed by a one-on-one session about starting a small business with the Co-Owner and Executive Manager of Fangasm Cebu,Cristina Grace Morgia. She emphasized the significance of starting a micro-enterprise to help support our needs because the country's economic status suffered a deep recession due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last session was conducted by Cadet GS Stephanie Lorraine Ignas. She shared her expertise in graphics designing and video editing to help girls be more digital tech-savvy especially under the current situation.
The event concluded with a masquerade-themed acquaintance party online. Participants creatively designed their masks and everyone enjoyed the group presentations showcasing talented performances.
The Iloilo Girl Scout actively participated in this event with the representation of eight Senior Girl Scouts, namely: Louise Antoinette Daquilanea, Jannah Marie Lyn Baldevieso, Holly Dei Syree Fundal, Gwyneth Amber Aguilos, Angelica Mae Tabul, Leanna Grace Oro, Carlyn Claire Fullente and Janelle Sargado.
Cadet Girl Scout Honey Parreño was also on the Working Committee as the Program Lead while Tita Akeena Rosalie Siladan gave the Inspirational Message during the Opening Program. Tita Hyacinth Bangero was the Guest Speaker during the Acquaintance Night.
VRSCC helps the participants to develop self-confidence and the ability to relate with Girl Scouts from other Councils; acquire basic knowledge and information regarding Financial Literacy, Mental Health, and Graphic Designing; become more aware and responsible individuals, and to share and discuss with peers and co-girls scouts on issues that greatly affect girls and young women.
The event motivated the girls to translate all the learnings and experiences they gained from this virtual event, into spreading awareness for a better world.
