GSP Iloilo initiates charity sale to aid typhoon victims

The online selling activity was by-lined as ”A GSP Iloilo Council Charity Sale for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses and Typhoon Rolly.

Tita Charisma Alagao, Associates Committee treasurer, explained that the activity was initiated in response to the needs of those afflicted by typhoons Ulysses and Rolly, which badly hit the country in the month of November.

“This is our simple way of helping when our kababayans are overwhelmed by such calamities, ” she said while busy with tagging items and selling online thru Facebook Live.

A call for donations of new or preloved clothes, wardrobe accessories, housewares, toys and other stuff to be sold online was made prior to the event. It also attracted online buyers with a publication material bannering “Saan aabot ang P50 mo?”

Tita Joy de Leon, Council Board Treasurer also explained that the Iloilo GSP Council have sent boxes of emergency relief donations to GSP Councils in typhoon-ravaged areas.

“Aside from clothes, housewares and other things, the typhoon victims will also need money for their special personal needs like maintenance medicines, personal hygiene and rebuilding homes. Whatever amount we can raise from the generous donation of goods to be sold will be sent also to the distressed families of girl scouts.

Tita Claire Escuadra Laruan, Council Chief Executive also expressed gratitude not only to the people who donated goods and cash but also to the people who bought the items on sale.

The funds raised were coursed through GSP Councils of Isabela, Cagayan, Albay, and Catanduanes.

Iloilo Girl Scout Council’s Associates Iloilo Council Charity Sale for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses and Typhoon Rollylive Committee along with the Council Executive Staff, launched their take of virtual marketing on December 2020.
