Creative Wedding Planning Confeti interviews Nigel Davis, director of Chez Vous, a one stop event solution specialist team, whose prestigious clients include Richard Branson, Prince Bahar Jefrey of Brunei and Princess Beatrice.
Why do you think a planner is a necessity for a destination wedding? It’s not just the language barrier that causes problems for foreign couples getting married in Spain, the cultural differences are the cause of many headaches, let me tell you. For example, British couples tend to be used to snapping their fingers and things get done. In Spain everything is much more laid back and this can be very frustrating if you do not know how to deal with it. You need someone on the ground that can act as a buffer, keep all parties calm and get the job done. A good planner will also make sure you keep to your original budget, if a couple decides to add on extras further down the line, the planner will juggle things around to make sure the budget is still met. 78 CONFETI
Another important factor is that things will go wrong; they always do in any event. For example, if the saxophonist from the band you have booked pulls out at the last minute, how would a bride-to-be, who doesn’t live in the country, be able to replace them at a moment’s notice? A planner will have a little black book and be able to find a replacement straight away without the bride being any the wiser. A good wedding planner will always be able to cover up any problems and the client will never know that the day was anything but perfect.
