Slow Fashion vs. Fast Fashion - Grade 10

In the context of the interdisciplinary project “Slow fashion vs Fast fashion”, students of grade 10 Lebanese program and CPP received a guest speaker about upcycling straps for handbags, guitars, cameras, etc. They visited the social enterprise Fabric Aid and researched about the exact definitions of fast fashion and slow fashion in French, as well as the impact of fast fashion on the environment and the economy. They are still in the process of studying about this topic in chemistry and economy and brainstorming actions they could implement to increase awareness about this topic mainly in their own society. Students will showcase their projects in the hall of the second floor at Rockefeller.

IC Students are Spreading their Wings and Flying to Qatar!

Under the IC Responsibility initiative and the environmental sustainability program, IC secondary school students represented IC at the Global Innovation Sustainability Summit that took place in Qatar in March 2023. This summit focused on environmental SDGs 12 (responsible consumption and production), 13 (climate action), 14 (life below water) and 15 (life on land). Two groups, working on the “Zeit w Saboon” project (turning used cooking oil into soap) and the “Quarry Rehabilitation” project (implementing a rehabilitation scheme to an abandoned quarry in Lebanon), won the final rounds and showcased their projects at the summit.
