Supporting the Sustainability of Water - CE2 / Grade 3
As part of their unit of inquiry “Sharing the Planet”, CE2/Grade 3 learners have been inquiring into our rights and responsibilities in the sustainable management of water resources and in the struggle to share water with other people and other living things. Students decided to take action to support the sustainability of water.
CE2/ Grade 3 learners in Ras Beirut collected unfinished bottles of water from the elementary school to water indoor plants located in offices throughout the school and spray outdoor plants. Then, they used the empty plastic bottles to design and create a bench that they placed in the school’s playground.

CE2/Grade 3 learners at Ain Aar explored the concept of rainwater harvesting. They welcomed Sustainability Advocates (éco-délégués) from the Middle school, who raised their awareness about the importance of sustainable water management and conservation and guided them into new techniques for sustainable water conservation such as rainwater harvesting. Together, CE2/Gr3 students and the éco-délégués, will implement a rainwater harvesting system on the Ain Aar campus. Stay tuned for news about the project’s implementation!
