Preserving Native Lebanese Species - Nursery/PS
As part of their unit of inquiry “Sharing the Planet”, PS/Nursery students in AA and Ras Beirut inquired about the characteristics of Lebanese wild animal species (wolf, jackal, hyena, Rock hyrax or Tabsoun, fox…). They welcomed a team from the Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa, who helped them explore the rich native animal biodiversity of Lebanon.
Learners in Ain Aar decided to take action and are currently producing a digital picture book about the Tabsoun species’ characteristics and habitat, and our responsibility towards preserving this rare and endangered animal.

A Sustainable Use of Materials - KG1 / MS

As part of their unit of inquiry “How the World Works”, KG1 and Moyenne Section students in Ras Beirut inquired into the different types of materials, their properties, and how people manipulate them to meet their needs and wants in a responsible manner. By the end of the unit, students gained an understanding of how they could use upcycling as a sustainable and creative solution for reducing waste and creating new objects. Therefore, in Art, students took action by creating a Christmas tree and snowman out of used shoe boxes to decorate the stage for their Christmas concert. In class, they upcycled materials to create further decorations, toys to gift each other and games to play. Furthermore, a Music Wall made from household utensils was installed in the Preschool Playground to further enrich students’ outdoor play experience and encourage them to investigate sounds, rhythms and beats.
