Beirut for Authentic Learning and Inquiry-based Teaching
The Elementary School has been bustling with activity as students have been participating in a series of field trips that have enriched their education. These field trips are an important part of the school’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) and are designed to support authentic learning and inquiry-based teaching.
Students have had the opportunity to explore their community and the world around them, including visits to the local supermarket to learn about how a system functions, a flower mill to learn about mixtures and separation techniques, Najm quarrying to learn about Quarry in Lebanon, and the AUB museum to learn about different civilizations and the artifacts of each civilization.
Through these experiences, students have developed important skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.
At the heart of the Primary Years Programme is the belief that students should be active learners who are constantly engaged in the process of inquiry. By taking learning outside of the classroom, students are able to connect with the world around them and apply what they have learned in meaningful ways.
We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the support of our community. We invite you to take a look at the pictures and videos from our different field trips.
Grade 1: As part of the How We Organize ourselves unit, the grade 1/CP PYP learners visited Spinneys to learn about how systems function.
Grade 2: As part of the Who We Are unit, grade 2/CE1 PYP learners visited the Hall of Fame to get acquainted with different personalities that made a difference in the world and are considered as role models.
