March-April Newsletter 2025

Dear Team,

MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

I’m excited to share with you some important updates about the many improvements happening at our club. We’ve reached several significant milestones recently, and many more exciting developments are on the horizon. This truly is an exciting time for all of us, and I’m proud of the direction we’re heading.

East Course Completion

On Monday, January 13, 2025, we celebrated the grand reopening of our beautifully renovated 18-hole East Golf Course. This monumental project transformed the course, enhancing the golfing experience for our members and guests alike.

This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our incredible members, the Board of Directors and the Golf Committees—past and present. We also owe a great deal to our construction partners, who lent their expertise and dedication throughout the project. A special thank you goes to our Golf Course Maintenance Team under Amy Volk, Director of Golf Ben Bauer, and Assistant General Manager Jennifer Chavez whose tireless work ensured the renovation’s successful outcome and completing it on time and on budget.

While the East Course is now open for member open play, it is the first time in the Club’s history that we allow walking the course with a pushcart.

South Course Renovation Proposal

Plans are in the making for a membership vote in April on renovating he South Golf Course. We are eager to share the updated plans with our membership by Beau Welling Design, who has more than 100 years of global design experience, including designs for Tiger Woods, Pinehurst, and Augusta National. The members will need to vote in favor of the project which would be at zero capital assessment to them if they approve.

New Racquet Sports Center

Equally exciting is the membership approval for a new Racquet Sports Complex. The February 14th, 2025 vote marks another exciting chapter in our club's growth.

Over the next year, we will begin the design and permitting phases, ensuring that every aspect of the facility meets the high standards we’ve set for our club. Construction is set to begin in the summer of 2026, with the Racquet Sports Center slated for completion in January 2028. This new complex will provide a tennis stadium court, a pickleball stadium court along with 3 additional courts all lit and under cover, a modern retail shop, offices for our pros, locker rooms, a sports bar, outdoor gathering spaces, four shaded bocce courts, a court maintenance facility, and a comfort station by the East Course turn with restrooms, food lockers, and a beverage station. Fulfilling this vision works toward our Club mission statement where "We strive to be a country club community dedicated to providing exceptional facilities and memorable experiences."

CORE VALUES

At Hunters Run, our core values are more than just words— they are the foundation of our community and the driving force behind everything we do. These values come to life through the incredible contributions of our team members, who go above and beyond to create a welcoming and thriving environment. Today, we proudly recognize a few outstanding individuals who embody these values every day:

COMPASSION

RYAN MEILKE GOLF

We would like to recognize Ryan Meilke who truly embodied our Core Value of Compassion when he went above and beyond to help a member in need. Ryan witnessed a member who had tipped over while riding their mobile scooter on the sidewalk near the employee entrance. While others passed by, Ryan immediately stepped in to assist. The member later shared that they were grateful for the kindness shown, especially because others had not stopped to check on him. Thanks to Ryan's quick thinking and compassionate actions, the member received timely help and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

RESPECT

VILANCIA SIMERVAIL FRONT DESK

JV LOREDAN SECURITY

ENTHUSIASM

TEBOHO LEFIKA FOOD & BEVERAGE

Let’s take a moment to celebrate Tebo, who has consistently demonstrated our Core Value of Enthusiasm in every aspect of his work. Recently, a guest shared this glowing feedback: “Tebo is always eager to please, extremely accommodating, charming, and energetic.” His positive attitude and commitment to delivering outstanding service make him a standout member of our team. Tebo’s energy and passion for his work not only brighten our workplace but also create exceptional experiences for our guests. We’re proud to have him as part of our team!

EMPOWERMENT

JACKIE CUEVAS CULINARY

Kudoes to Vilancia and JV for their outstanding display of respect in their recent actions, perfectly embodying our Core Value of Respect. A gentleman from the Lodge recently shared his appreciation for their exceptional service. After leaving his phone in a golf cart and realizing the cart barn was closed, he turned to Vilancia at the Front Desk for help. She immediately contacted JV in security, and together they located his phone. What stood out most to the guest wasn’t just that they solved the problem, but the gracious and respectful way they went above and beyond to assist him. Their teamwork and dedication to providing outstanding service made a lasting impression, and we’re grateful for their efforts.

Chef Jackie has consistently gone above and beyond, perfectly demonstrating our Core Value of Empowerment in everything she does. Recently, we received a heartfelt letter from a guest who celebrated an early Valentine's Day dinner at 26 North. Chef Jackie created a spectacular dining experience, making the evening even more special. When the guests mentioned that they wouldn’t be able to celebrate on Valentine’s Day, the staff brought out Chef Jackie’s incredible Tiramisu Cake as a surprise. The guest described it as an unforgettable, "mind-bending" experience that rivaled the masterpiece created for a birthday the year before. Wonderful work!

DEDICATION

LIAM MURPHY GOLF

We’d like to recognize Liam for consistently demonstrating our Core Value of Dedication. Whether volunteering to help, staying late, or delivering exceptional work, Liam always goes above and beyond. His hard work and commitment have earned him numerous compliments from team members and Hunters Run members alike. Liam's unwavering dedication to providing a top-notch experience for everyone sets an inspiring example of what it means to be truly dedicated.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

ERIC FARO RACQUETS

What inspired you to join Hunters Run?

I heard amazing things about the club and when I came to visit it, I loved the passion of the members. I also loved how athletic they were and wanted to play sports all day, there was lots of action here and I wanted to be a part of that.

What do you love most about your position at the club?

I love being able to do one-on-one but also being able to work with the teams and working with people at all levels from professionals to people that are learning Tennis for the first time.

Where were you born? Where did you grow up?

Born and raised in New York City, the Bronx. I moved to Florida almost 4 years ago.

What accomplishments are you the proudest of?

Being a father to my 3 kids and being able to watch them grow.

If you could meet anyone in history, who would it be?

Chris Mullin, he is a basketball player who was my hero when I was growing up. He would be who I would want to meet in person.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.

I am addicted to egg creams.

Is there anything upcoming in your life that you are looking forward to?

I am so excited about the new racquet sports building and what it is going to mean for Hunters Run. I wish we could fast

CONGRATULATIONS!

We are incredibly proud to recognize two outstanding employees for their achievement in receiving WSET Awards from the Florida Wine Academy.

Bernardo Maranhão received his Level 1 Award and Georgiana Truta received her Level 2 Award! These accomplishments not only showcases their passion and commitment to expanding their knowledge of the wine industry but also exemplifies their dedication to excellence and continuous growth.

Their hard work, perseverance, and eagerness to learn have truly paid off, and we are thrilled to see them both reaching new heights. Congratulations Bernardo and Georgiana for this well-deserved recognition!

forward to when it is already built and open, it is going to add so much to the club. When I was first joining Hunters Run as an employee, all my local friends were asking “Could you get me onto that golf course?” I feel that this center will bring racquet sports up so that Tennis, Pickleball, and Golf will all be at the same level.

Any additional thoughts or statements?

I owned a few tennis courts in NYC before I came down to Florida. When I was heading down here, I thought I would be working for the rest of my life and that it would be just work. However, just like my old coworkers in New York feel like an extended family, I really feel that Hunters Run has become like another extended family for me. I love the members and my coworkers. It really is a great place to be. A new quote I heard and liked was “I GET to go to work I don’t GOT to go to work.”

CLUB UPDATES

RECERTIFICATION OF THE CLUBHOUSE

We are pleased to provide an update on the progress of our building's mandated recertification process. Both the structural and electrical recertification reports have been submitted to the City of Boynton Beach, and we are currently awaiting any additional feedback following the City’s comments, which have already been addressed. To ensure the project moves forward smoothly, weekly meetings are being held with a team of professionals, leadership, and a few member representatives. These meetings are focused on finalizing the scope of work, sequencing, and strategy to ensure the successful completion of all recertification requirements.

As part of the first phase of recertification, the Clubhouse will undergo termite treatment, which requires tenting of the building. In order to minimize disruptions, the Clubhouse will be temporarily closed from Tuesday, May 27th to Monday, June 16th. This closure will allow us to complete the necessary treatment and ensure the safety of our members and staff. We are committed to keeping everyone informed throughout this process and will work diligently to ensure a smooth and seamless return to operations once the treatment is completed. Thank yo u for your cooperation and understanding as we work to enhance the safety and longevity of our building.

RACQUETS MODULAR BUILDING AND STORM DRAINPIPE INSTALLATION

The professionals working on the project have received feedback on the submitted drawings from the City of Boynton

Beach, and all responses have been promptly provided to address the comments.

The modular buildings themselves have been fabricated and are currently being stored until the necessary permit is received and the site work is completed. The project team has been actively collaborating with the contractors to finalize the site logistics, mobilization plan, and project schedule.

Once the site work is completed, the work will include grading, trenching, installation of catch basins, drainage pipes, and various utility connections. After these essential site preparations are finished, we anticipate that the modular buildings will be delivered and installed by mid-April. Stay tuned for further updates as the project progresses!

GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE MASTER PLAN

Initial conceptual site plans for the space planning of the maintenance facilities have been developed and reviewed by the Golf Course Management (GCM) team. Feedback has been provided to the architect, and revisions to the plans are now underway.

In addition to the planning, environmental studies of the area have begun, and we are currently awaiting the results. These studies are essential for ensuring that the project moves forward in compliance with environmental regulations.

As part of the ongoing process, proposals are being gathered for the land planning required to modify the site plan. These proposals will help guide the next steps in the development of the maintenance facilities.

PGA MEMBERSHIP: KEVIN KELCHNER, PGA

The PGA of America has a very detailed program that Associates go through to attain PGA Membership. Aspiring PGA of America Members must complete this self-paced program while working full-time at a golf facility.

On February 3rd, 2025, our very own Kevin Kelchner was elected to PGA Membership! In regards to this wonderful achievement, Kevin had this to say:

“It is a privilege to have been elected to PGA Membership. The road was long, but now being on the other side, it was very rewarding and educational.

Becoming a PGA of America Member is only made possible by having great mentors and leaders to glean information from. Here at Hunters Run, we are extremely blessed to have great PGA and LPGA members to learn from. I would like to personally thank our Director of Golf, Ben Bauer, PGA; Head Professionals, Brian Schuler, PGA and Penny Hammel, LPGA; and PGA Professionals, Ralph Garofano, PGA and Henry Bannwarth, PGA.

Because of the passion each of them has for mentoring and coaching, I was able to join them as PGA of America members. Thank you all for your dedication to growing the game of golf and graduating associates into PGA Membership!”

CELEBRATING LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE ERIC MACLEAN

We’re excited to congratulate Eric MacLean for completing the third and final class in his Graduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership & Management. This prestigious program is designed for professionals aiming to strengthen their leadership skills and drive organizational success. Through his coursework, Eric has been learning key

strategies for leading teams, making executive-level decisions, and implementing organizational strategies. This achievement reflects his dedication to continuous growth and his commitment to making a lasting impact at Hunters Run. We’re proud of his hard work and look forward to seeing how he continues to apply his new leadership skills!

At a recent national conference with over 4,000 club managers from around the world, our cafeteria, The Hub, was proudly showcased as an exemplary model for how clubs can treat employee spaces with intentionality and pride.
