The Cooperative-Lab is a match-making platform between students from the HSG and SMES in Latin America, with the main objective of developing joint projects, being it in the form of traineeships or as programs which are drawn jointly from sketch (see Alma Magazine edition 3/2010 page 28). This platform is supported by HSG Alumni who volunteer as mentors of every incoming student in the CoopLab in Latin America. The pilot traineeship took place in Sao Paulo, with the BWL bachelor student, Philip Longoni, and the company SmartCaps in Sao Paulo, which is owned by the Alumni Immo
Paul and Lukas Fischer. In this project the trainee developed a new sales channel (convenience stores) and implemented a guerrilla marketing action in town (see video on www.alumni.unisg.ch/alma). The second project was in a cashew-nut cooperative in the Northeast of Brazil. In this one, the master student Nicolas Niklewicz provided training about Fair Trade and the EU market and developed a communications plan with CooperCaju to support improving the commercial relations with Swiss buyers and to position them at the Biofach Fair in Germany. The mentor Alumnus was Thierry Zysset (Bunge Brasil). The third project will now take place in Santiago de Chile. Other projects are in line. For those Alumni who would like to support their HSG colleagues who are graduating now and looking forward to a real hand-on professional experience in Latin America, please get in contact with Angélica Rontondaro from the HSG Hub in Sao Paulo.
