International Olympic Committee IOC increased the participation of women in their leading activities

The International Olympic Committee has increased the participation of women in leading IOC’s activities by as much as 98 percent compared to the previous five years, i.e. 16.8 percent compared to 2017. According to the IOC’s plans, women will occupy 30 more places in the IOC’s committees, which actually means that 42.7 percent of the seats in the IOC’s 26 committees will be held by females officials or experts. Improving the gender equality at all levels is among the strategically important recommendations of the Agenda 2020 Olympic Agenda, accepted at the IOC’s 127th Session held in December 2014 in Monaco. The IOC’s President Thomas Bach, who is persistently following this guideline, also presented his pleasure due to the increased number of women in the leading activities of the IOC,: “We have made significant progress and this trend will continue, as well as geographic representation at all levels of the Olympic Movement. Universality is at the heart of the Olympic Movement, a power that unites us through diversity. “
