Prigodnom izložbom u Hrvatskom športskom muzeju u Zagrebu, 25. studenoga proslavljena je 150 obljetnica rođenja utemeljitelja i najsnažnijeg promicatelja olimpizma u Hrvatskoj Franje Bučara. Izložba koju su organizirali Hrvatska olimpijska akademija (HOA) i Hrvatski športski muzej u suradnji s Hrvatskim olimpijskim odborom (HOO) i Hrvatskim društvom olimpijske filatelije i memorabilije (HDOFM), pokazala je bogatu arhivsku, muzejsku i knjižnu građu Bučareve ostavštine koju je predstavila ravnateljica muzeja Đurđica Bojanić najavljujući i službeno otvorenje stalnog postava na adresi Praška 2. Franjo Bučar, dokazani promicatelj novih športova toga vremena, bio je prvi član Međunarodnog olimpijskog odbora iz Hrvatske (1919. - 1946.), zalagavši se da hrvatski športaš dobije svoju međunarodnu prigodu nastupa pod vlastitim stijegom. Osnovao je u Zagrebu prvu Višu školu za nastavnike tjelesnog odbora, Hrvatski športski savez (1909.), Jugoslavenski olimpijski odbor (1919.); Društvo učitelja gimnastike tadašnje Hrvatske i Slavonije, ali i druga strukovna udruženja i klubove. Dokazani promicatelj novih športova toga vremena, Franjo Bučar ostavio nam je u nasljeđe više od dvadeset autorskih knjiga iz područja športa, te brojne članke u monografijama, enciklopedijama, listovima i časopisima, a u nekima od njih je bio i urednik. Umro je u Zagrebu 26. prosinca 1946. godine, a po njemu je nazvana najviša Državna nagrada za šport koju Republika Hrvatska dodjeljuje od osamostaljenja 1991. godine za iznimna postignuća u razvitku športa. U znak sjećanja na dan rođenja ovog hrvatskog velikana međunarodnog olimpizma, glavni tajnik HOO-a Josip Čop i voditeljica projekata promicanja olimpizma HOA-e i bivša vrhunska košarkašica, olimpijka Danira Nakić Bilić, položili su cvijeće na njegov grob na Mirogoju u Zagrebu.

President Grabar-Kitarović awarded the medals to the Croatian Olympians The President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, awarded on December 5, 2016, the athletes and coaches – winners of medals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Ms. Grabar-Kitarović presented the award Red kneza Branimira (Order of Duke Branimir) to the gold rowing Olympians, brothers Valent and Martin Sinković (Double Sculls) and their coach Nikola Bralić, golden Olympian in Discus Throw Sandra Perković, silver Olympian in rowing discipline Single Sculls Damir Martin and bronze Olympian in High Jump Blanka Vlašić. The award Red Danice Hrvatske (Order of the Croatian Morningstar) with figure of Franjo Bučar was presented to the golden Olympians, shooter Josip Glasnović (Trap), sailors Šime Fantela and Igor Marenić (470), athlete Sara Kolak (Javelin Throw); silver Olympians - sailor Tonči Stipanović (Laser), water polo players Mark Bijač, Luka Bukić, Luka Lončar, Antonio Petković, Anđelo Šetka, Javier Garcia Gadea, Ivan Krapić, Marko Macan and Sandro Sukno, bronze Olympian Filip Hrgović (Boxing) and bronze Olympian Blanka Vlašić›s coach Bojan Marinović. The award Red hrvatskog pletera (Order of the Croatian Trefoil) was awarded to the silver water polo players Damir Burić, Andro Bušlje, Maro Joković and Josip Pavić, Head Coach and coach of the Olympic Water Polo Team Ivica Tucak and Pero Kuterovac. The awards were also presented to the coaches of golden female athletes (Andrej Hajnšek and Edis Elkasević), golden sailors (Edo Fantela), silver medalist Tonči Stipanović (Jozo Jakelić), silver medalist Damir Martin (Srećko Šuk), and coaches of bronze medalists Filip Hrgović (Leonard Pijetraj) and Blanka Vlašić (Joško Vlašić).

150 years of rich Bučar’s legacy The 150th anniversary of birth of Franjo Bučar, the founder and the strongest promoter of Olympism in Croatia, has been celebrated with an exhibition held on November 25 at the Croatian Sports Museum in Zagreb. The exhibition, organized by the Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) and the Croatian Sports Museum in cooperation with the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) and the Croatian Society of Olympic Philately and Memorabilia (HDOFM), has shown a rich archive, museum and library materials of Bučar’s legacy, presented by the museum director Đurđica Bojanić, announcing as well the official opening of the permanent exhibition at the address Praška street no. 2. Franjo Bučar, a proven promoter of new sports of that time, was the first member of the International Olympic Committee from Croatia (1919 1946), giving his best to make possible for the Croatian athlete to get his/her international performance under his/her own flag. He founded in Zagreb the first Higher School for Teachers of Physical Education, Croatian Sports Federation (1909), the Yugoslav Olympic Committee (1919); the Society of Teachers of Gymnastics of Croatia and Slavonia of that time, and other professional associations and clubs. The proven promoter of new sports of that time, Franjo Bučar left us in his legacy more than twenty-copyright books in the field of sports, as well as many articles in monographs, encyclopedias, newspapers and magazines, and in some of them he was the editor as well. He died in Zagreb on December 26, 1946, and the highest Croatian national award for outstanding achievement in the development of sport, awarded by the Republic of Croatia since its independence in 1991, was named after him. In memory of the birthday of this Croatian great of the international Olympism, Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee Josip Čop and Department for Promotion of Olympism at the Croatian Olympic Academy and former top basketball player, the Olympian Danira Nakić Bilić, laid flowers on his grave at the Mirogoj cemetery in Zagreb.
