uglednih zagrebačkih filatelista, slikara Ivana Lackovića Croate ujedno i prvog predsjednika (do 2001.) te Ivana Librića, današnjeg predsjednika Društva (od 2001.), po rezultatima i aktivnostima danas, dvadeset godina kasnije, spada u sam vrh organizirane hrvatske i svjetske filatelije. HDOFM je suosnivač Međunarodnog saveza olimpijske filatelije (FIPO) i član je HOOa od 1993., te Hrvatskog filatelističkog saveza. Na izložbi organiziranoj u suradnji s Hrvatskom poštom u Jurišićevoj 13 u Zagrebu, 20. svibnja predstavljeno je 429 prigodnih filatelijskih izdanja koja su nastala od 1993. Svečanosti otvorenja izložbe nazočili su brojni uglednici hrvatske filatelije kao i ugledna športska imena među kojima Marko Ćurković, izaslanik predsjednika HOOa Zlatka Mateše.
EU - prilika za bolje financiranje hrvatskog športa

Članstvo Hrvatske u Europskoj uniji trebala bi biti prilika za još veće i bolje financiranje športa u našoj zemlji, a ne povod za dovođenje u pitanje državne potpore športu ili narušavanje sustava financiranja športa - jedna je od ključnih poruka s Konferencije o politici Europske unije u području zaštite tržišnog natjecanja u dijelu koji se odnosi na državne potpore športu, a koja je održana u Zagrebu, 3. lipnja u hotelu Westin, u organizaciji Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora. U nazočnosti brojnih športskih uglednika, više od 80 predstavnika nacionalnih športskih saveza i drugih članica HOO-a, uvod u temu dao je predsjednik HOO-a Zlatko Mateša, a o politici Europske unije u području zaštite tržišnog natjecanja kad je riječ o financiranju športa iz državne potpore, govorio je direktor EOC EU ureda Folker Hellmund. Hellmund je naglasio da Europska komisija u praksi prihvaća i odobrava državnu potporu športskim projektima koji nisu ekonomski isplativi i zanimljivi tržišnim uvjetima; u pogledu izgradnje športske infrastrukture odobrava onu
Milivoj Bebic in the Hall of Fame Double Olympian with a gold and silver medal Milivoj Bebic, one of the best Croatian water polo players and top scorer of the world of the 80’s, from May 12th, 2013 is the sixth Croat in the International Swimming Hall of Fame in the U.S. Fort Lauderdale. Before him, top Croatian water polo players Zdravko Ciro Kovacic (1984), Ratko Rudic (2007), Perica Bukić (2008), Zdravko Jezic Pucko and founder of Hvar’s Pharos marathon in long-distance swimming, Vicko Soljan, found there their places in the category of prominent sports officials. The only Croat in the Hall of Fame is the winner of the gold and silver, the Olympian in swimming Durdica Bjedov (1987). Milivoj Bebic was born in Split on August 29th, 1959. At the age of ten, he started playing in the Split club POŠK-in for which he played from 1976 until 1986. For the Yugoslav national team he played from 1977 until 1986 and he played 300 games and scored the record of 620 goals, which made him the world record holder for the number of goals scored in a single game (28). It was at the Universiade in Kobe in 1985 (Yugoslavia - Guatemala 620). FINA proclaimed him three times the best water polo player of the world (1982, 1984 and 1985). He competed at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 where he won silver, and in 1984 in Los Angeles he won a gold medal. He won the silver medal at the European Championship in Sofia in 1985, two gold medals at the MG (Split 1979 and Casablanca 1983), and with the POSK team he won two European Cup of the Cups, two Mediterranean Cups, two cups of the former Yugoslavia and one European Super Cup. After actively playing, Milivoj Bebic worked as a sports official in the POSKand Croatian Water Polo Federation. As the sports director of POSK, which at one time performed under the name Slobodna Dalmacija and Splitska Banka, he won the Croatian championship in 1998, the Croatian National Cup in 2000 and the European Champions’ Cup in 1999. He was also a member of the City Government of Split in charge of sports and the director of the institution for managing sports facilities of the town of Split. He won the award of the town of Split in 1984 and the Franjo Bucar State Award for Sports in 2000. The Croatian President presented him in 1999 with the award of the Order of Danica Hrvatska (the Croatian Daystar) with the figure of Franjo Bucar. List for Rio Although the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016 are still quite far away, already now every day is precious to check the form and results of all those on the list of potential candidates. Among them the largest number refers to former Olympians, Olympic medal winners. On the list of potential candidates for Rio, there are currently 57 athletes, divided into two groups. In the group Top Olympic gold, silver and bronze candidates (depending which medal they won at the Beijing Games 2008 or London 2012.) there are 43 candidates. Golden Olympians: Sandra Perkovic (discus throwing), Giovanni Cernogoraz (flying targets - Trap) silver Olympians: Blanka Vlasic (high jump), Filip Ude (pommel horse), Valent Sinković, Martin Sinković, David Sain, Damir Martin (Quadruple Sculls) and bronze Olympians - Snjezana Pejcic (air rifle 10 m), Lucija Zaninovic (taekwondo), and two national teams from the London Olympics – national water polo team with gold and national handball team (m) with silver. In the group of potential “A” Olympic candidates there are Bozo Starcevic, Nenad Zugaj (wrestling), Marijana Miskovic, Tomislav Marijanović (judo), Ivan Kljakovic Gaspic (Finn class), Sime Fantela, Igor Marenić (470 class), Tonci Stipanović (laser class), Bojan Durkovic (rifle), Anton Glasnović (flying targets - trap), Josip Glasnovic (flying targets - trap), Marija Marovic (air pistol), Tan Rui Wu (table tennis) and Marin Cilic (tennis).
