Assistant Executive Director: Advance, Brian Smart HPBC 2020 Annual Meeting Report for November 2019 – October 2020 Thank you for the privilege of serving the churches of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. My primary areas of focus include missions, evangelism, church planting, and partner development. The Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention sees every Hawaii Pacific Baptist Church working together to be leaders in impacting God’s Kingdom throughout the Pacific and Asia. these areas. The “advance” side of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention includes Sean Lathrop (Church Planting), Arjay Gruspe (Next Generation), Carlye Lawrence (International Ministries) and John Vaugn (Disaster Relief). Here are the ways in which we are fulfilling the vision of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. Together we will BUILD and SUSTAIN a stronger Kingdom network of like-minded churches and ministry partners to facilitate God’s Kingdom through Hawaii Pacific Baptists Partner Development Assisted off island church to connect with HPBC church for feeding Interviewed Will Graham with Billy Graham Association Forming informal partnership with Samaritan’s Purse Interviewed Jon Gordon for future leadership development Working with Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child on a HPBC partnership in the Pacific Virtual trainings Evangelism (See Kona Baptist) Revitalization (SBCTX and Southwestern Seminary Missions (IMB field personnel) Church Planting Working with mapping center to see best places to plant in Hawaii Interviewing future church planters and bi-vocational pastors from outside our network Working with SBCTX for partners Identifying best places to start new works Helping church plants with evangelism strategies Pursuing new church planters that are in our churches Assisting Sean with an HPBC strategy that mirrors NAMB but is indigenous to the islands. Follow up meetings with SBCTX for church plant partners.
Together we will EMPOWER and MOBILIZE Hawaii Pacific Baptist churches to engage Hawaii, the Pacific, and Asia with intentional efforts for God’s Kingdom. Evangelism/Disaster Relief Worked on guidelines for Programs Committee Met with HPBC staff to reformat rules and procedures for evangelism funding from the North American Mission Board. Working with partners to solidify evangelism trainings for 2021 16
