Church Planting Catalyst – Sean Lathrop HPBC 2020 Annual Meeting Report for November 2019 – October 2020
“We see every Hawaii Pacific Baptist Church working together to be leaders in impacting God’s Kingdom throughout the Pacific and Asia.”
Thank you for the privilege of serving alongside you. My primary role is helping plant churches. Together we build and sustain a stronger Kingdom network as we leverage the SBC network to help plant churches. One of the primary ways we do that is by partnering with the Send Network (church planting) of the North American Mission Board.

HPBC/NAMB Resources We empower and mobilize the churches of the HPBC as we provide excellent resources to help pastors, planters, and their families thrive during this challenging time. Go to hpbaptist.net, for “Resources for Pastors and Leaders Dealing with the Coronavirus.” Also, go to namb.net, and click on “Covid-19” for “Coronavirus Resources,” a collection of tools and articles for responding to Covid-19.
We offer the “Multiplication Pipeline,” a great way to make disciples. It’s a systematic and experientially-based approach for churches to train members how to live missionally. The initial themes include spiritual formation, Bible fluency, spiritual design, evangelism, and self-leadership. In addition, “Coaching for Strategic Planting” is designed to fit the unique situation of each church. The training helps congregations plant a healthy, biblical church to proclaim the gospel and make disciples.
“Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field,” Luke 10:2. Our biggest need is for church planters to say “yes” to God’s call to plant. The second need is for Sponsoring Churches (old term, “Mother Church”) to say the same. Join me in setting your alarm for 10:02am, as a reminder to pray for more planters. God is in control, so there is much to celebrate, and look forward to. 33
