Bulldogs drop final non-district game to talented Boyd Yellowjackets
The Howe Bulldogs (1-3) ran into a buzz saw at home Friday night against the Boyd Yellowjackets (3-1) Boyd, with 20 juniors on their roster and full of talent appear to be headed to multiple rounds of the playoffs for a couple of years The Bulldogs, still without starting quarterback Austin Haley, stood toe-to-toe with Boyd for the first half, trailing 14-7 at the intermission The surprising play of the defense has forced several turnovers early in the season and Howe intercepted three Boyd passes, two from safety Layton Elvington, to give him five on the young season
Howe got the ball first in the game and drove 13 plays and 51 yards but were turned away from points as Elvington, playing quarterback for the recovering Haley, took a big sack of 11 yards which stunted the drive After a turnover on downs, Boyd got on the board first with a 10-yard pass from Rendyn Lamance to Nick Taylor to give them a 7-0 lead after Boston McIntire's PAT with 3:37 remaining in the first quarter

After a Howe punt, Boyd scored again on a Lamance run of 3 yards with 9:14 left in the second Boyd led 14-0
Both teams traded punts before Howe put together a 7-play drive that started at the Boyd 40 yard line Elvington hit Kolby Windon in the endzone for a 19-yard strike The score cut the Boyd lead in half at 14-7 after Kevin Flores' PAT Boyd's next two possessions before the half ended on interceptions by Elvington and Arturo Lowder
The Yellowjackets opened the second half with the ball and marched 79 yards to pay dirt on four plays Lamance again carried it over on a 25-yard run Boyd led 21-7 with 10:09 left in the third
Elvington intercepted another Boyd pass, but Howe fumbled it back to Boyd late in the third Howe's defense continued to hold tight and forced a turnover-on-downs, but Howe again had to punt for the fifth time in the game

With 8:23 left in the game, Boyd's Dillon Inman ran 9 yards to end a 4play, 43-yard drive to give Boyd a 27-7 lead
After another Howe punt, Lamance finished the game's scoring with a 33-yard run with 5:43 remaining to give the Yellowjackets the 34-7 win at Bulldog Stadium
District play begins Friday night at Bonham The Warriors are 1-4 having beaten Leonard for their only win They lost to Hillcrest Friday night, 49-17.
