Current teachers formed a Howe ISD committee and toured other campuses to gather ideas. The group toured a modern edge campus in Coppell as well as more traditional schools in Frisco. After the tours and gathering pros and cons from each one, Corgan drew plans and presented them to the current teachers, and administrators. The elementary staff overwhelming gravitated to a plan that groups grade levels of six classrooms per grade plus two prek classrooms near the front of the complex. A cafeteria area would also serve as the P.E. gymnasium and be easily transformed from one to the other. One of the group's favorite aspects of the plan is for a full glass wall from the library overlooking a green open area.

The most popular exterior examples were a mix of modern, yet traditional campuses with arches similar to the current Howe High School. However, those in attendance expressed a desire for more creativity than the current high school which has very little curb appeal other than the arches. The group was also against a lot of glass as exterior walls, but felt more inclined for traditional brick with stone accents. One member of the group discouraged building something that might be trendy in 2018 because of the chance of having an outdated look in 2038.
The group was asked to place postit notes on examples hung on the wall for ideas of what the community felt was a good look or a bad look for Howe. Red was for negative and yellow for positive. The group continued this exercise for both exterior and interior.
