Mike McKenny - Creative Director of Plaza Cinema, Bradford In 2009, Bradford was accredited as the world’s first Unesco City of Film - and for good reason. Our film heritage, world-class festivals, stunning locations and film’s national museum at its heart, puts Bradford firmly on the map for film. I’d recommend you watch Billy Liar, a film set and filmed in 1960s Bradford. Keep your eye out for events at venues such as Plaza Cinema, The New Bradford Playhouse, The 1in12, Bradford Cathedral and City Park’s big screen. See the Bradford City of Film website for information about how you can get involved and what’s on. www.bradford-city-of-film.co.uk

LOCAL TIP

Alois Afilipoaie - 2nd Year Student at the University of Bradford They say that you can’t beat German efficiency and when it comes to prices it is also the Germans who manage to keep it in the paint. Yes, we are talking about Lidl. If you want to give your pocket some breathing space, I’d recommend checking out the Lidl supermarket off Manchester Road, near St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They have great prices that beat all the big supermarkets as well as a lot of other neighbourhood shops. Moreover it’s local. If you spend some time and energy in shopping around for the best deals you’ll have more money in your pocket to spend on having fun. So I say: Give Lidl a go!

3 Theatre In The Mill Theatre in the Mill is an innovative community theatre studio on the University of Bradford Campus. LOCAL TIP

Mary Dowson - Founder & Director of BCB Radio Twenty years ago, BCB Radio was born out of the passion, ambition and dream of a handful of people. Now, twenty years later BCB has over 250 people in its team and is ever-present in the life of the city, making an impressive mark. However, BCB is unlike any other radio station simply because it has a tweak. They encourage people to become broadcasters producing their own radio shows, providing them with full training and giving them the platform to be able to do that. Its stubborn committment to provide commercial-free radio has set BCB Radio apart and granted them access into the select club of trailblazers, whose ethos is followed by many other organisations. Broadcasting from the heart of the city and getting Bradford talking to itself, this is BCB Radio 106.6 FM.

Mr Johnston - Founder & Creative Director of HowDo?! Bradford My tip for Bradford, and life in general, is never turn down an unexpected invitation cos’ you never know what you may have missed out on! We live in a very safe corner of the World, where people are generally sound enough. Fact. So as long as you’re coming with respect and responsibility for yourself and those around you, you take care and you’re conscious of your surroundings - you’ll be quite alright exploring these parts with freedom and confidence. Walk into the places you’ve never been in before, step through the ‘threshold’ and see you what you stumble upon. You only regret the things you haven’t done in life, not the things you have. So get out there and explore the world! Take care, have fun & be nice!!
