THE T SPARROW BIER B CAFE

32 North Parade, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 3HZ

sparrowbradford.co.uk

WHAT'S TO SEE & DO... A friendly atmosphere and an interesting pint await you at The Sparrow. One of The Guardians top ten UK craft beer bars, it offers beer from all over the world including local breweries such as Saltaire Brewery and Salamander. The bar first opened its doors in 2011 and since then it has played a major role in the revival of North Parade and Bradford’s Independant Quarter. It has been featured in The Good Beer Guide and it’s easy to see why. Open seven days a week until late, it is a great place to try something new and unwind with friends.

BEST TIME TO VISIT This is the place to be for Friday post-work drinks, or a quiet afternoon coffee. Keep an eye out for themed food and drink events such as ‘Street Food Fridays’ and ‘Oktoberfest’

MATTHEW HALLIDAY, CHIEF TASTER AT BRADFORD BREWERY M

BRADFORD BREWERY This Autumn will see the return of brewing to the centre of Bradford for the first time in half a century. Bradford Brewery and The Brewfactory, the brewery’s on-site craft beer bar, will showcase some of the UK’s best beers in a modern, industrial setting more typical of venues in Leeds and London. You’ll be able to order a pint of Bradford beer whilst watching the brewers do their magic. And best of all we’ve offered 10% discount on food and drink for students all day every day. What’s not to like! @bradfordbrewery

CAFE W C

@ WATERSTONES

The Wool Exchange, Hustlergate, Bradford BD1 1BL

waterstones.com

WHAT'S TO SEE & DO... Bradford must surely lay claim to one of the most the most beautiful bookshops in the country. Set inside the grand gothic-style Wool Exchange building, Bradford Waterstones is a magnificent cathedral of books with huge stone pillars and sweeping archways creating an air of Hogwarts in the centre of Bradford. Indeed, Michael Palin once remarked how it made the Sistine Chapel look like Grimsby bus station. That might be a little tongue in cheek, but as the former epicentre of Bradford’s wool trade it is suitably lavish. On the first floor mezzanine sits the Waterstones café, selling coffee and cake to accompany you as you merrily thumb through your latest purchase. There really is no better way to unwind on a dreary afternoon.

BEST TIME TO VISIT Put aside an hour or two to relax with a great book on a quiet afternoon.
