Jan de Clerck y su esposa Caroline Jan de Clerck and his wife Caroline En esta ocasión hemos querido dedicar la nueva edición de nuestra revista “Encanto Andaluz” a todas las posibilidades que brindan nuestros hoteles para la celebración de eventos de cualquier índole, desde reuniones de trabajo, pasando por las celebraciones, convenciones o congresos.

On this occasion we wished to dedicate the new edition of our magazine “Encanto Andaluz” to all the opportunities afforded by our hotels in terms of hosting many different kinds of events, from business meetings to personal celebrations, conventions or conferences.

Cristina y Manuel Méndez contrajeron matrimonio en junio de 2011 y celebraron su boda en nuestro Hotel Jerez. Una celebración de la que guardan vivos y emocionados recuerdos, donde no faltaron las bulerías jerezanas bailadas por los parientes del novio, y de la que los novios señalan que “el Hotel Jerez a través de la celebración reflejó el cariño que los novios profesamos a todos los que quisieron estar con nosotros en ese día tan importante”. - ¿Qué recuerdos tienes de la celebración de tu boda? El colofón fue la celebración en nuestro querido Hotel Jerez, que decir de estos magníficos profesionales... La organización magnífica, el enclave perfecto, el servicio excelente, la comida de 1ª calidad..., los tiempos marcados de forma magistral y lo que creemos que es fundamental, hicieron posible que la gente que venían a disfrutar salieran de la celebración como los novios, nosotros, habíamos deseado que saliesen, cuando elegimos celebrarlo con los magníficos profesionales del Hotel Jerez, con Alberto de los Santos a la cabeza. El Hotel Jerez a través de la celebración reflejó el cariño que los novios profesamos a todos los que quisieron estar con nosotros en ese día tan importante. - ¿Qué te pareció el menú y el servicio del Hotel? El menú y el servicio de un día tan especial es el caballo de batalla de toda pareja que desea casarse, lo que no puede fallar nunca es el menú y el servicio, y precisamente por el motivo esbozado anteriormente por que es a través de la celebración cómo los novios expresamos nuestra felicidad y nuestro cariño con nuestros invitados, familiares, y nosotros mismos. Por eso elegimos nuestro querido Hotel Jerez, pues lo tiene todo...Tiene unas instalaciones de lujo, un menú genial de 1ª calidad con la comida cocinada en el momento, no precocinada y el servicio exquisito. Siempre nos recuerdan los amigos la cantidad de camareros que había en nuestra boda sin parar de ofrecer el servicio y atento a cualquier necesidad de los comensales. Igualmente nos recuerdan lo bueno y genuino que estaba el sorbete de mojito... Sólo podemos expresar nuestro agradecimiento y satisfacción

por el trato que nos dispensó el equipo humano que conforma Hotel Jerez. - ¿Qué es lo que más te gustó de la celebración (decoración, menú, el baile, alguna anécdota)? Creemos que fue todo, pero un momento en el que podemos coincidir los dos, cuando hicimos la entrada a la celebración y vimos en la zona de la piscina a tanta gente guapa esperándonos, bajo el son de la guitarra de Paco de Lucía (entre dos aguas) en la cena en la pérgola y evidentemente el baile de los novios alternándola por eso de que soy algo flamenco (el novio) con algún baile por bulería con mis primas Manuela y Paqui Méndez. Como anécdota pudiera comentar algo que ocurrió cuando mis primas Manuela y Paqui Méndez nos regalaron unos momentos de su arte para que pudiéramos disfrutarlo. Resulta que algunos familiares de Cristina no son muy asiduos del arte flamenco y más bien se podría decir que lo han escuchado en pocas ocasiones. Cual fue nuestro grata sorpresa que el sentimiento universal expresado en las bulerías de Chati y Paqui hicieron que las lágrimas brotaran de los ojos de nuestros parientes... .¡toda una gozada¡, inclusive que alguna novia de algún amigo nuestro pidieran casarse de la misma forma que nosotros.... ¡Todo un bombazo! - ¿Recomendarías a tus amigas/os nuestro hotel para la celebración de su evento? Recomendaríamos el Hotel Jerez para todas las celebraciones que se pudieran tener en una vida y por supuesto especialmente para el día de tu boda. Con el Hotel Jerez nunca te equivocas, andas sobre seguro y y evitas dolores de cabeza. Cuando el tiempo pasa y recordamos las bodas de los demás amigos, y los demás amigos la nuestra, lo que perdura en la memoría es cómo se comió, cómo se bebió y cómo se sirvió; tres cosas que son importantísimas, que si queremos que su recuerdo en nosotros y en los demás sea excelente es necesario dejarlo en manos de verdaderos profesionales. It was a celebration which still evokes vivid and exciting memories for the couple, including Jerez "bulerías" danced by the groom's relatives, and according to the couple "the celebration held at Hotel Jerez reflected the affection which we feel for all who wanted to be with us on that most important day". - What memories do you have from your wedding celebration? The highlight was the celebration in our beloved Hotel Jerez, and let's not forget about the great professionals... the magnificent organisation, perfect setting, excellent service, top-notch food..., the event progressed masterfully and, which we believe is essential, they made it possible for the guests who came to enjoy the celebration to have the experience we, the bride and groom, had hoped they would have. This is all thanks to the magnificent Hotel Jerez professionals lead by Alberto de los Santos. "The celebration held at Hotel Jerez reflected the affection which we feel for all whose wanted to be with us on that most important day". - What did you think about the Hotel's menu and service? The menu and service on a very special day represent a focal point for any couple who wants to get married, and it’s important that these never fail. The exact reason for this is that through the celebration we as a couple express our happiness and love with our guests, family members, and ourselves. This is why we chose Hotel Jerez, because it has it all.... It has luxurious amenities, a great menu with top quality food cooked when ordered and not in advance, as well as exquisite service. Our friends always remind us of the number of waiters present at our wedding who provided nonstop service and who were attentive to all of our guests' needs. They also remind us of the amazing and unique the mojito sorbet was... We can only express our appreciation and satisfaction for the tre-

atment we were provided by the staff of the Hotel Jerez. - What did you like most about the event (decor, menu, dancing, a story)? All the above I think, but one moment in particular was when we arrived at the celebration and saw so many beautiful people awaiting us around the pool area, amid the sound of the guitar of Paco de Lucía (mid-water), and also the pergola scene, as well as the dance we (the bride and groom) exchanged, since I (the groom) am quite fond of Flamenco and got to dance a few bulerías with my cousins Manuela and Paqui Méndez. Anecdotally, I could comment on something that happened when my cousins Manuela and Paqui Méndez gave us a few moments of their art for our enjoyment. As it turns out, some of Cristina's family members are not very big on the art of Flamenco, or rather that they haven't heard it on many occasions. What a pleasant surprise we got from the feeling evoked by the bulerías of Chati and Paqui, which brought tears to the eyes of our relatives... Everything was a blast!!!, including the fact that the bride of a friend of ours was able to get married just like we did... What a smash! - Would you recommend for your friends to hold their events at our hotel? We'd recommend the Hotel Jerez for every sort of celebration one can have in life, and of course especially for weddings. You can't go wrong with Hotel Jerez. Everything gets taken care of and you can avoid unnecessary hassles. As the time goes by and we remember the weddings of our friends and our friends remember ours, what really sticks out is the food and drinks and how they were served; three very important things, and if we want to form a lasting memory of the event its best to leave it in the hands of true professionals. "At my wedding, both the menu and the service were extraordinary" Rocío Santos e Ignacio Martínez de Galinsoga Alarcón contrajeron matrimonio en el Hotel Villa Jerez el pasado mes de octubre, donde a continuación tuvo lugar una celebración que resultó inolvidable para todos los asistentes. Rocío Santos destaca en esta entrevista el magnífico servicio y atenciones que recibió tanto del equipo del Hotel, como de Altacazuela, encargado de los servicios de catering y restauración de nuestro Hotel.

Rocío Santos and Ignacio Martínez de Galinsoga Alarcón tied the knot at the Hotel Villa Jerez last October, after which an unforgettable celebration was held for all those in attendance. In this interview, Rocío Santos points out the great service and attention received from both the Hotel staff, as well as Altacazuela, who is in charge of the restaurant and catering services of our Hotel. - What do you remember from your wedding celebration?

- ¿Qué recuerdos tienes de la celebración de tu boda? Del día de mi boda tengo muchísimos recuerdos, pero sobre todo el hecho de que por primera vez en casi tres años pudimos reunir a la mayoría de miembros de nuestras familias. El 26 de octubre fue una fecha muy marcada para todos, no sólo por el hecho de que celebramos nuestro matrimonio, sino porque mi marido salía al día siguiente hacia Afganistán en misión de paz.

I remember a lot about my wedding day, but above all the fact that for the first time in almost three years we were able to get together most of the members of our families. 26 of October was a very special date for everyone, not just because this is when we got married, but because my husband was leaving the next day for Afghanistan on a peace mission. - What did you think about the Hotel's menu and service?

- ¿Qué te pareció el menú y el servicio del Hotel? Tanto el menú como el servicio del hotel fueron extraordinarios, a pesar de que no pudimos disfrutar de la habitación proporcionada. Todos nuestros invitados estaban encantados con la comida, no sólo por la calidad de los platos servidos, sino también por su presentación y el servicio prestado durante la celebración, que fue inmejorable. El equipo del hotel y Altacazuela se desvivieron en todo momento para tratar de que en la boda todo fuese sin problemas.

Both the menu as well as the service at the Hotel were excellent, even though we weren't able to enjoy the room they had provided. All of our guests were delighted with the food, not just because of the quality of the dishes they were served, but also because of its presentation and the service provided during the celebration, which was superb. The Hotel staff and Altacazuela went out of their way at all times to make sure that everything ran smoothly with the weeding.

- ¿Qué es lo que más te gustó de la celebración (decoración, menú, el baile, alguna anécdota)?

- What did you like most about the celebration (decor, menu, dance, a story)?

Es dificil escoger un momento puntual o un recuerdo del día, pero lo que más agradecimos, tanto mi marido como yo, fue el hecho de que Fabiola, la encargada de nuestra boda, nos mantuviese informados en todo momento de lo que estaba pasando. Es de destacar su habilidad de improvisación durante todo el día, desde reacomodar la ceremonia que teníamos planeado celebrar en los jardines del hotel a uno de los salones interiores, por que ese día llovió, hasta producir una comida para unos invitados que llegaron muy tarde, porque su avion había salido con horas de retraso de Londres...

It's hard to a pick a specific moment or memory from that day, but both my husband and I were most grateful for was the fact that Fabiola, the woman in charge of our wedding, kept us informed at all times about what was going on. The remarkable improvisational ability shown throughout the day really should be pointed out; from arranging the ceremony which we had planned to hold in the hotel gardens (though it had to be held inside due to rain), to preparing meals for some guests who arrived late because their plane had been delayed in London...

- Would you recommend for your friends to hold their event at our hotel?

Nuestro otro tesoro, salido de las almadrabas atuneras de Barbate lo presentamos como tataky, sobre salmorejo, germinados y soja, o también, la tosta de langostino, huevas de salmón y ali-oli. Nuestros jereces forman parte de los ingredientes de los artesanos cocineros, que ensalzan con ellos la maestría de sus platos. Buen ejemplo de ello es otro de nuestros reconocidos aperitivos: Las canicas de foie trufado en gelatina de Pedro Ximénez.

Our other treasure, coming from the tuba traps of Barbate, is presented as tataky over salmorejo, sprouts, and soya, or also prawn toast, salmon roe, and aioli. Our Sherries are part of the ingredients which our craftsmen cooks, contributing to the mastery of their dishes. A good example of this is another one of our renowned appetizers: The truffled foie marbles in gelatine by Pedro Ximénez.

- ¿Qué recuerdos tienes de la celebración de tu boda?

- What memories do you have from your wedding celebration?

Tenemos unos recuerdos maravillosos, fue el 29 de junio de 2012, hizo un día espectacular y estábamos rodeados de nuestras familias y amigos íntimos. Sin duda, fue todo como pensamos.

We have some wonderful memories of this, it was 29 June, 2012. It was a spectacular day and we were surrounded by friends and close family. Without a doubt, it was everything we had hoped it would be.

- ¿Qué te pareció el menú y el servicio del Hotel Playa de la Luz?

- What did you think about the menu and service of Hotel Playa de la Luz?

Desde el principio tuvimos claro que queríamos celebrarlo en el Hotel Playa. Hicimos una prueba de menú y nos aconsejaron estupendamente. El resultado fue que nuestros invitados y nosotros quedamos muy satisfechos. El hotel tiene una gran variedad de menús y te dejan barajar varias opciones, te ofrecen muchas facilidades y te asesoran en todo. - ¿Qué es lo que más te gustó de la celebración (decoración, menú, el baile, alguna anécdota)? Acerca de la decoración colaboraron con nosotros en las ideas que teníamos, ya que la boda se celebraba en un hotel en la playa, quisimos que los centros de mesas tuvieran una inspiración marinera, por lo que llenamos las mesas de conchas y el centro de mesa era un barquito, al final todo el mundo quería coger los barquitos. El grupo de musica y DJ lo trajimos desde Sevilla, ya que eran amigos nuestros, pero el hotel tiene una base de datos de profesionales para contratar para los eventos.

From the very beginning we knew we wanted to hold our event at Hotel Playa. We did a test menu and they advised us wonderfully. The end result was that we and our guests felt very satisfied. The hotel has a wide variety of menus and they allow you to mix several options, there are many facilities, and they advise you throughout the process. - What did you like most about the event (decor, menu, the dancing, a story)? Regarding the decorations, the worked with us on the ideas that we had, since the wedding was being held at a hotel on the beach, we wanted the centrepieces to be inspired by the sea, and as such we filled the tables with shell and the centrepiece was a small boat. In the end everyone wanted to take the little boats. The band and the DJ were brought from Seville, being as they were friends of ours, but the hotel has a database of professionals to hire for such events.

- ¿Recomendarías a tus amigas/os nuestro hotel para la celebración de su evento?

- Would you recommend for your friends to hold their events with us?

Por supuesto que sí, es un hotel que tiene mucho encanto, tiene una localización espectacular. Además te ofrecen muchas opciones y te aconsejan en todo momento, dando un servicio excelente.

Para ello, nuestro hotel confecciona un menú a su medida, que permite varias opciones entre platos de la gastronomía local, regional, nacional e internacional y que es degustado por la pareja previamente para dar su conformidad. En este aspecto, los platos típicos de nuestra zona, donde destacan los excelsos frutos del mar de la bahía de Cádiz, dan una nota sobresaliente a cualquier menú que sale de nuestra cocina, lo que nos ha reportado numerosos galardones por su calidad. Sea cual sea el menú que se elija, seguro que contará con la emocionada felicitación de los comensales. Entre el repertorio de nuestra completa carta destacan el foie casero de pato con gelee de pasas y compota de manzana, o los arroces de todo tipo, entre ellos, caldosos, señorito, marinero... No falta tampoco en nuestra carta para banquetes el emblema gastronómico de la ciudad, la urta al estilo roteño. To achieve this, our hotel prepares a menu tailored to meet your needs, allowing several options from local, regional, national, and international dishes which are tasted beforehand by the couple in order to receive their approval. In this regard, the typical dishes of our area, which include the marvellous seafood from the Bay of Cadiz, provide an outstanding touch to the menu coming from our kitchens, which has earned us numerous awards for its quality. - What did you think about the menu and service of the Hotel Duque de Nájera?

El menú estuvo fenomenal, el hotel nos dejó un amplio margen de libertad para elegir los platos y la carta de vinos y no se encorsetó en menús preelaborados. El servicio durante el aperitivo y el banquete fue rápido, eficiente y eficaz. Desde que comenzamos a preparar la boda tuvimos contacto directo y en todo momento con las organizadoras del hotel. - ¿Qué es lo que más te gustó de la celebración (decoración, menú, el baile, alguna anécdota)? Sería dificil elegir porque realmente todo estuvo conforme a nuestro gusto, pero lo más original y lo que más gusto a los invitados fue el punto de champán Taittinger preparado con grandes cubiteras, durante todo el aperitivo se sirvió champán incesantemente. Otro punto a destacar es la cercanía del hotel con la Iglesia donde tuvo lugar la ceremonia, a escasos cien metros y en un marco incomparable en pleno casco histórico de Rota, un lujo el poder ir caminando desde la Iglesia hasta el lugar de celebración. - ¿Recomendarías a tus amigas/os nuestro hotel para la celebración de su evento?

The menu was phenomenal, the hotel left us a lot of room to choose the dishes we wanted and the wine list, and we weren't limited to predetermined menus. The service during the hors d'oeuvres and the banquet was fast, efficient, and effective. Since we began planning for the wedding we were in direct contact the whole time with the hotel organisers. - What did you like most about the event (decor, menu, dancing, a story)? It would be really hard to choose because really we liked how everything took place, but the most original thing and that which the guests liked the most was the Taittinger wine prepared in large ice buckets, and champagne was served throughout the hors d'oeuvres period. Another highlight was the proximity of the hotel to the church where the ceremony took place, only a few hundred metres away and in a beautiful setting in the historic centre of Rota. It was quite a luxury to be able to walk from the Church to the venue. - Would you recommend for your friends to hold their events with us?

- What aspect would you highlight from the event (decor, menu, dancing, a story)? My dream had always been to get married under the pergola so I let the maitre'd know. That day began rainy and they warned me that if it kept raining I would have to get married in one of the reception halls of the hotel. The maitre'd stood with the decision until the end, so I got married in the pergola. This shows the level of involvement and professionalism of the team who seeks for everything to run smoothly, thus making my dream come true. - Would you recommend for your friends to hold an event at our hotel? En un día luminoso y transparente en el que se dieron el "sí quiero", nuestras instalaciones fueron el marco para celebrar tanta alegría y un brindis de felicidad eterna frente al mar Atlántico. Noemí y Alberto se muestran entusiasmados y satisfechos por el balance del banquete y destacan de la celebración, las vistas desde la terraza del Hotel, donde se sirvieron los aperitivos del ágape. Noemí Molina and Alberto were married on 22 September last year, and they held the event at our Hotel Puerto Sherry. On a bright and transparent day in which the "I dos" were exchanged, our facilities were the setting much joy and a toast of eternal happiness next to the Atlantic Ocean. Noemí and Alberto are enthusiastic and pleased with the outcome of the banquet and the highlights of the event, and the view from the Hotel terrace where appetizers were served. These memories are still fresh in the minds of the couple, and they are excited to have experienced an event which will be indelibly written in their memory for the rest of their lives.

- What memories do you have about your wedding?

Pues que el Hotel es magnífico. Estuvimos en tres sitios diferentes, uno de ellos la terraza en la que ofrecimos los aperitivos, con vistas al mar, con una decoracion perfecta y un ambiente muy agradable.

Well, that the Hotel is superb. We were in three different locations; one of which was the terrace where we offered the appetizers, overlooking the sea, with the perfect decor and a very pleasant atmosphere.

- ¿Qué te pareció el menú y el servicio del Hotel?

- What did you think about the Hotel's menu and service?

Respecto al menú, tuvimos muchas opciones para elegir. No hubo ningún problema en cambiar algún plato si alguien sufre una enfermedad y no tolera algún alimento, siempre hay una opción alternativa.

With regard to the menu, we had many options to choose from. There was no problem changing a dish if someone has a disease or can't tolerate a certain food, and there was always an alternative.

- ¿Qué es lo que más te gustó de la celebración?

- What did you like most about the event?

Los que mas nos gustó fue el momento en el que se proyectó el preludio, en una gran pantalla, fue impresionante.

What I liked most about the event was the time when the prelude was projected onto a large screen...it was very impressive.

- ¿Recomendarías a vuestras amigas/os nuestro hotel para la celebración de su evento?

- Would you recommend for your friends to hold an event at our hotel?

Sin duda que lo recomendaría, camareros y maître estuvieron muy pendientes de todo y nosotros, muy tranquilos por la organización, que fue muy buena.

Of course I would, the waiters and maitre'd took care of everything, and we were at ease because of the organisation in place, which was a good thing.
