You Have The Skills To Do It…… and We Have The Means to Make It Happen… As we welcome in 2013….a time of new beginnings for all of us, we also reflect back on a Fall and Early Winter that began with the Opening celebration of the Center for Workforce Development and Professional Studies. We also remain mindful of the devastation that has impacted so many lives and property as a result of Hurricane Sandy and the Nor’easter that followed it….and our hearts go out to all the people and communities that still remain affected by its aftermath. The Fall also brought recognition to Lourdes Mangual de Delgado, Continuing Education’s Marketing Coordinator, for receiving the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY) Award for Outstanding Marketing. Lourdes works tirelessly to identify new ways for us to reach our expanding audience of learners. The New Year brings a farewell to our Assistant Dean, Lorraine Altman. Lorraine is retiring after over 10 years spent planting the seeds and expanding the vision of what is possible in lifelong learning and workforce development opportunities for residents of the Bronx and Upper Manhattan. We invite you to review all the course offerings including new certificate programs that are launching this semester. We are increasing to 10 percent our traditional Open House Discount (see page 4). Check out our non-tuition Grant Programs, including the Pipeline Program (see page 8) that are no-cost opportunities to not just find a job, but to also build a career.

We remain loyal and committed to helping you develop the skills you need to do the job! Sincerely, Lorraine Altman, Assistant Dean Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development Peter Mertens, Executive Director Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development And our dedicated staff….always ready to serve you with a smile

HIGH SCHOOL TUTORIAL PREP

REGENTS REVIEW A high school diploma expands career and education opportunities for high school graduates. In New York City, high school students must successfully complete Regents exams to graduate. When they pass these exams, they earn a local, Regents or Advanced Regents Diploma. High school students begin to fulfill their graduation requirements in the 9th grade. They must receive a minimum score of 65 on all five of the required exams: English Language Arts, Global History, U.S. History, Science and Algebra. Students who earn scores of 90 or better on their exams will receive an Advanced Regents Diploma. Our High School Tutorial Prep courses present a review of course curriculum for each of the above disciplines. Emphasis will be placed on strategies for answering multiple-choice and essay questions, as well as open-ended critical thinking questions. In addition, our small class setting allows us to address diverse learning styles.
