After making its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in late March, the Horizon FD75 Hull Two has sold to an American owner. The distinguishing feature of the FD75 model is not only the ample interior and exterior space provided by the yacht’s 20’ 4” (6.2m) beam, but also the High Performance Piercing Bow and hull design

Not long after the announcement of the creation of the brand-new Horizon E81 model, Horizon Yacht USA signed a sales contract for Hull Two. The E81 model blends the sleek E Series superstructure design with a beamy hull to maximize both space and style. Commissioned for fi rst-time Horizon owners, the newest E81 has been designed to accommodate her experienced owners’ cruising lifestyle, with spacious exterior areas, a three-stateroom-plus-office layout and a modern interior décor created in collaboration with the Horizon in-house design center. “Th is is the second boat that we have done as a semi-custom build,” says the owner. “The experience has been quite different in that Horizon has bent over backwards to deliver what we want.” The creation of custom storage for the sea stairs and deck chairs and tweaks in the standard E81 layout to allow for additional functionality will make for a better boat overall, he says. Since its establishment nearly 35 years ago, Horizon Yachts has continuously invested in its facilities and equipment to maintain and further its position as one of the world’s largest and leading yacht builders. The latest infrastructure investment comes in the form of a brand new 106,745sqft (9,917sqm) production facility constructed on the Horizon grounds in a space formerly used for mold storage. This new space can now accommodate seven yachts up to 120 feet in length and improves production capacity significantly, allowing the group to deliver 20 to 25 new builds per year. The expansion is the result of a two-year planning process with an overall focus on production efficiency throughout and to this effect includes the re-designation of existing workspaces and an efficient horizontal production queue. The Atech Composites hull production department is now also situated onsite to further streamline the manufacturing process of each hull. Now, each critical stage of construction, from hull production to boat assembly and the final testing will be carried out in the same vicinity. In addition to the new facility, which officially began operations in February 2021, construction is currently underway on a materials warehouse and a brand-new office building designed to house the factory management department. The new building is expected to be completed in early 2022. Rover is the creative behind the acclaimed Fast Displacement (FD) Series and has many Australian owners among his own clientele, whether for exterior or interior design. Furthest aft, the spacious beach garage offers a huge storage cupboard and massive fridge-freezer storage for long-haul cruising. This build features a semi-enclosed skylounge with a newly designed micro bridge, so as to accommodate a larger exterior boat deck with an indoor/outdoor entertaining area and tender storage aft. The lightweight hardtop doubles as a touch-and-go helipad and includes a hydraulic telescopic radar arch to allow the yacht to successfully navigate Australia’s many fixed bridges. The al fresco space is protected by sliding glass enclosures to either side and is fitted with a U-shaped dinette, a large bar area with stools and a BBQ grill. On the foredeck, a large U-shaped settee faces a heated Jacuzzi and the large sunpads. This area can also be shaded with awnings and offers refrigeration for added convenience.

TÒ-KALÒN DEFINED TÒ-KALÒN is the first Horizon build for the experienced owners, who customized their interior to feature a circular dining area on the main deck aft and incorporated Humphree stabilizers and interceptor tabs for added performance. Theirs was the quarters forward of the engine room. An overall length limit of 101’ 9” – so as to fit in the slip of their home port – influenced the overall design, but in the end the owners were able to incorporate all of their desired amenities. Doors to port and starboard provide access to the semi-walkaround side decks while the aft boat deck features a bar alongside the inviting Jacuzzi and grill area. Uniquely, this yacht also features a spacious beach club in addition to her crew quarters for two.

Honestly, they all deserve a medal for patience and customer service!” While the standard E81 arrangement offers four staterooms on the lower deck, the owners opted for a fullbeam master suite with a refined head and shower, a large VIP ensuite forward and a twin guest stateroom to starboard. In the space normally occupied by the fourth stateroom, the owners specified an office/library with a built-in workspace and cabinetry. Handling all of the details from afar was handled as efficiently and effectively as possible, say the owners. “We would have visited the yard in Taiwan, but 2020 provided a hard roadblock to that adventure!” they say. “The Horizon team has had a lot of patience with us. Picking and choosing from afar allows for second guessing oneself frequently. Let’s face it, it’s a big investment and we don’t want to have regrets.”

The 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show Held May 20th to 23rd, the 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) was considered by many in the yachting industry to be the best in the event’s 32-year history. Stunning weather, record crowds – up 10 percent on 2019, with 51,832 visitors – and quality inquiries proved to be a powerful formula for success. SCIBS General Manager Johan Hasser was quoted as saying, “We’ve never seen anything like it in terms of commercial success for exhibitors, with more than $250 million in sales across four days.”

EAST COAST This area of Mallorca stretches from the Bay of Alcudia in the north to Punta Salinas in the south. Along this coastline, the mountains of the north give way to gentle hills and plains ringed by deep bays and coves. This is a cruising paradise that offers a variety of well-protected anchorages and marinas.
NORTH COAST Mallorca’s north coast, which stretches from the access to the peninsula tip of Cape Formentor to the bay of Alcudia, offers a rich and varied landscape. Between Sóller and Cape Formentor, the coast is rugged and wild, with cliffs that drop directly into the sea and a few “calas” where yachts find shelter in calm weather. Further east, the large bays of Pollensa and Alcudia open up onto lower areas with a variety of anchorages and marinas. Port de Pollensa and Port d’Alcudia are good departure points to visit the inland villages of the same names with their labyrinths of narrow streets and alleys, Roman ruins and historical fortifications. The bay of Alcudia is lined by a long and narrow sandy beach, which is very much appreciated by tourists during the season. Its harbor boasts the largest and best equipped marina on this stretch of the coast.
