A NOTEWORTHY COLLABORATION

After nearly three years of negotiations, Horizon Yachts and the Toyota Motor Corporation have reached an agreement to collaborate on the construction of the Lexus LY680 luxury motoryacht. The “Lexus by Horizon” will be built at Horizon Group’s Vision shipyard and promoted worldwide through Horizon’s global sales channels.

Japanese multinational corporations such as Toyota are extremely particular when selecting international partners for collaboration. They not only consider the manufacturing capabilities, financial strength, and brand recognition of potential partners, but also evaluate the synergies of the teams behind them. Building upon years of communication, numerous meetings, and in-depth analyses, Toyota selected Horizon Group as its preferred international brand partner to build and promote the flagship Lexus LY680 utilizing its sales channels worldwide. While the collaboration between Horizon and Lexus may not result in a significant increase in production value, both parties view this partnership as a mutually beneficial foundation for larger and more sustainable development in the future.

Coinciding with this decision, we recently hosted our biennial Open House event, attracting a record number of enthusiastic attendees—including foreign guests and media from every continent—to our headquarters Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This event proved to be the most successful in terms of turnout and accomplishments in our nearly 40-year history. In addition to the impressive showcase of new builds that included an FD90, two FD80s, and a V77, we arranged a series

of presentations to introduce recent changes within each of our subsidiaries to all attendees and media friends.

Currently, we employ over 900 staff across four factories and have invested over $30 million in new facilities and equipment, including a second-generation five-axis CNC machine, 3D printers, and a brand-new 1,000-ton Shiplift. Our offices have also been upgraded with new building, and the new Horizon cafeteria is very popular! These substantial investments, including the hiring of additional professional personnel, underscore our unwavering commitment to our customers, employees, and shareholders. Despite any uncertainty that may occur within the yachting industry, Horizon Yachts will continue to lead the global yachting industry and move forward with confidence.

It was a unique request for a yacht build, but creating a yacht designed to entertain and accommodate larger groups of guests within Horizon’s FD Series platform was not a problem for the Horizon yard. After all, Horizon is capable of fully custom yacht builds, so with a few engineering tweaks and attention to the A/V and mechanics onboard the FD Series platform design, the client cruised into the sunset aboard his FD75, Ocean Lily (Read the full feature in Vol. 56, page 36.)

The story didn’t end there, however. Ocean Lily ’s spacious and flexible accommodations and entertainment-specified details worked so well for this owner that he returned to Horizon with a new request: a bigger yacht to entertain even more guests. At 108 feet in length overall, the new Ocean Lily fits the FD100 model platform with an auspicious stern extension customized to suit her active owner.

Drawing inspiration from the entertainment-focused layout specified aboard the original Ocean Lily ’s upper deck aft area, from the top down, the new tri-deck Ocean Lily sets the stage for grand gatherings. The central exterior dining hub resides on the boat deck aft and is shaded by sun awnings for maximum comfort. Here the owner specified a large rectangular dining table seating 14. Teppanyaki and BBQ grills augment the stone-topped wet bar to starboard, which also houses a dumbwaiter for food service from the main deck.

Large sliding glass doors welcome visitors from this exterior entertaining space into an enclosed full-beam skylounge, an inviting enclave outfitted with oversized sofas encouraging relaxation and conversation. A wood floor in a Chevron pattern with metal inlays lends a masculine feel to this space, which houses a dedicated KTV room with an 85-inch television screen and a top-of-the-line BMB karaoke sound system. Another unique custom feature aboard this 108ft beauty is the Captain’s at-sea cabin, situated forward in the pilothouse.

The exterior spaces are multiplied aboard this Ocean Lily, thanks to her tri-deck configuration. On the topmost deck, the owner specified a welcoming alfresco space fitted with a semi-circular stone-topped bar—complete with a handcrafted faux teak-painted and dark lacquer base—and four bar stools to take advantage of the panoramic views forward. A large L-shaped settee faces a drop-down television, and the entire space is protected by the yacht’s hardtop. On the foredeck, U-shaped seating and reclining sunpads create an oasis for enjoying the view. This space is easily shaded by sun awnings and all deck spaces feature pop-up lighting for evening ambience.

Ocean Lily ’s interior is the culmination of a remarkable collaboration merging the sophisticated design style of the renown Cor D. Rover interior design house with the owner’s youthful flair. No design detail was left to chance, from the overall layout to the unique decorative style of each interior and exterior space, resulting in a superyacht that seamlessly blends luxurious living, unparalleled entertainment options, and exquisite taste.

The aft main deck spans the yacht’s full 23ft beam and offers convivial seating areas and a stone-topped bar that mimics the style of the bar on the tri-deck. Stepping within the interior, semi-circular sliding doors open to either side to reveal the main salon, the centerpiece of which is a unique rounded seating area comprising three separate sofas. Neutral tones are set off by ash grey wood and highlighted by brushed brass throughout the décor, which includes an impressive showcase of artwork. Expansive, full-height windows grace this space and offer uninterrupted 360-degree immersive views of the seascape.

A centrally located indoor stairwell features a semi-transparent partition between the salon and dining spaces, which at the same time creates a flowing and inviting transition from the main to upper and lower decks.

Forward, the interior dining area offers a 12-seater table and is accentuated by full-height windows and classic Louis Vuitton trunks to port and starboard. Bang & Olufsen wall-mounted speakers flow with the black mirrored bulkhead, creating a functional accent feature.

Horizon Yachts is no stranger to customized designs, long recognized for a forward-thinking approach to owner requests, supreme design and build flexibility. The muchanticipated Horizon V77 CMY (Cockpit MotorYacht) model is one such design and the latest example of the company’s collaborative spirit. Developed for the U.S. market, the V77 is the result of a combined effort by fishing enthusiasts, yachting professionals, and Horizon’s in-house design team. Building upon the proven V Series platform—celebrated for its quality, optimized functionality, and world-renowned Jonathan Quinn Barnett (JQB) design—the V77 embodies the best of both worlds: unparalleled comfort and an owner/operator's desire for maximized outdoor living.

Under a “Welcome Home” theme, attendees were treated to three days of luxury, culture, camaraderie, and, of course, the latest yachts—both in build and recently launched. Prominently on display at the Horizon headquarters in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the featured yachts included a Cor D. An exceptionally popular model in the rapidly expanding Australian market, the Horizon FD90 has enjoyed consistent success for its superyacht amenities and well balanced layout. The latest build—Hull 30—is a five-stateroom beauty specifically designed for the Australian market that boasts an on-deck master, crew quarters for five, a Jacuzzi on the boat deck aft, and gracious deck spaces. The open-plan interior is bathed in light gray oak with gold accents and curved architectural lines, creating a luxurious and inviting atmosphere.

The showcase also included two FD80 models. Both designed and destined for markets on opposite continents, having the two together gave attendees the opportunity to comprehend the scope of customization available within this series. The first—Hull 12 —was built to meet the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) 2C inspection requirements, which will allow it to operate either as a private yacht or a charter vessel. Augmenting its impressive interior volume with the Series’ signature floor-to-ceiling windows, this FD80 features a four-stateroom layout with an on-deck master, quarters for four crew members aft of the engine room, and a split-use skylounge. The boat deck offers a large entertainment area along with a Jacuzzi and bar with three stools with a built-in draft beer system and a large-capacity freezer among its many amenities.

Gracious deck areas include a boat deck with a Jacuzzi and counter bar with stools, forward sunpad and dinette area, and aft deck with a dining table for eight.

While she may have been the smallest of the debutantes, the new V77 Cockpit MotorYacht (CMY) was a show-stopper. Developed for the U.S. market, this innovative design builds upon the proven V Series platform with plenty of new features, at the heart of which is its versatile cockpit, which was meticulously designed with input from fishing and yachting experts. One key aspect of the Open House event is that Horizon Group CEO John Lu makes himself available to all the guests, owners, and journalists alike. He is there to field questions, discuss the operations, offer insights to the business functions and be the top ambassador for the brand. Along with naval architect Cor D. Rover and Austin Lin, President of the Horizon Group’s Vision Yard, the team answered queries during a Press Preview on the first day in the salon of the FD90 (yes, it’s that big). Afterwards, the media enjoyed exclusive tours of the showcase yacht debuts.

That evening, attendees donned their fine attire for the Gala Dinner, where the global Horizon Yachts teams were honored for their continued successes in bringing the Horizon Yachts brand to the far reaches of the globe.

Mr. Lu highlighted his speech with the announcement of a new partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation and Lexus Yachts to build the flagship LY680 and commented on the recent yard expansion and new technology in resin infusion that will help Horizon venture into building fiberglass yachts over 130 feet in length.

The colorful culture and bustling energy of the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s main commercial port, was the focus of Day 2. Some groups enjoyed a cruise around the harbor, while others boarded open-air charter buses for a guided tour of the city, highlighting its growth and working waterfront area. A burgeoning art scene is making its mark along the Pier 2 waterfront area, which now includes restored port warehouses-cum-art galleries, restaurants, bars, the architecturally amazing Kaohsiung Music Center, and the Great Harbor Bridge, the largest swing bridge in Asia. Horizon takes great pride in this particular structure, having fabricated the long fiberglass arch that spans the bridge’s length.

Tours of the Horizon shipyards on Day 3 were both impressive and educational. Thanks to its recent facilities expansion, Horizon can now accommodate up to fifteen yachts under construction at one time. The $30M USD expansion—which included new equipment and a new employee cafeteria—coincided with a time-saving adjustment in production, which eliminated the need for yachts to be moved from one production line to another.

An exciting portion of the day was spent at Horizon Group’s subsidiary company, Atech Composites. Founded in 2000, Atech is the premier large-scale fiber reinforced plastic builder in Asia. Not only does Atech produce and test all of the hulls, decks, and superstructures for every Horizon yacht, it supports a variety of other industries including aviation, transportation, and wind farm production to name but a few.

THESE PHOTOS Attendees toured the new facilities, visited the Atech Composites headquarters, and even experienced the new employee cafeteria! RIGHT the finest detail.

Atech has been instrumental in many technical advancements implemented into Horizon yacht builds, the most recent of which is its patented 6D Resin Infusion Technology. Formerly, resin infusion was a 3D process that facilitated resin flow up and down internal stiffeners. The new 6D process includes 3D structural fiber cloth with the 3D resin channeling process, which guarantees an even resin distribution around corners, over integrated stringers, and throughout the laminate for lighter and stronger hulls. Pioneers in hull infusion technology—achieving its largest infusion of a 140ft hull with girders and framing in 2006—Atech can now build any length hull in a single shot with the new 6D process.

Capping off yet another memorable event, John Lu and the Horizon team hosted a farewell dinner at a local warehouse brewery, where guests enjoyed a variety of beer flavors followed by singing and dancing. As the attendees departed for their respective home ports around the world the following morning, it was clear to all that the Horizon Family energy enjoyed by owners around the world also extends to Horizon’s business partners, dealers, and the international press. The future looks bright for Horizon Yachts, indeed.

OWNER EXPERIENCE

For Love of Water

Jemily II owners reflect on their mutual love of being on the water and the events that led to the build of their first tri-deck FD100.

42 horizon life VOLUME 64 // 2024

THESE PHOTOS Jemily II offers the perfect platform for the owners' various water activities and toys; beloved boat dog Gus (below) is always up for new adventures.

From the Lake of the Ozarks to the Caribbean, family roots in boating planted a deep-seated love for all things water in John Fallin—a love that extends from childhood to his current adventures onboard his customized Horizon FD100 Tri-Deck. “My family lived in St. Louis, and we used to spend our weekends on a houseboat on the Lake of the Ozarks,” recalls John. “From water skiing to bass fishing and everything in between, I grew up on the full lake experience.”

In the winter, he and his family would visit family in Pompano Beach, Florida, which he refers to as “a Midwesterner’s exposure to the Atlantic.” It was in South Florida where he discovered inshore and offshore fishing, along with crossings to The Bahamas. Upon graduating from Arizona State University, John purchased his first boat, a 23’ Chaparral Cuddy Express, to enjoy in his downtime, and soon after he co-purchased a 32’ Sea Ray with his brother—the thirst for boating strong in their veins.

Eventually life brought John to Florida, where he was faced with the task of transporting his Sea Ray from the Midwest to South Florida. It was this endeavor that made crossing to The Bahamas the logical next step for John, as this stretch of islands is considered the promised land for anglers, spearfishers, and recreational divers. The first few ventures were to Bimini, but it wasn’t long before John and his brother ventured to Grand Bahama Island, Treasure Cay, and The Abacos. →

43 horizon life DEFINE YOUR HORIZON ©PHOTOS COURTESY OF JEMILY II OWNERS

Then John met Emily. A shared passion for water-related activities brought them together. Emily’s boating background began on the Mississippi River, where she spent many spring and summer seasons out on the water with friends aboard their boats. Also graduating from Arizona State University, Emily began a career in mass media and television. “I was exposed to all different types of boats because of my friends,” says Emily. “It was when I met John that I was introduced to the world of yachting.”

As the size of John and Emily’s family increased through the years, so did their fleet of boats. In a short span of time, John graduated to a 39’ Sea Ray, which he purchased in Florida but sent to Minnesota, where it accompanied a 44’ Gibson houseboat that was then upgraded to a 50’ Gibson. The houseboat and his Sea Ray continue to live the “lake life” in Minnesota to this day.

John’s passion for fishing led to a 33’ Pursuit, which accompanied their 60’ Grand Banks Jemily while cruising Florida and The Bahamas; this new setup was a noteworthy milestone for the couple, as it was the point in which they first hired a captain. When the time came to upgrade the mothership, John and Emily underwent the task of conducting market research on yacht manufacturers. They entered an agreement to build Hull #3 of the Grand Banks 90’, but then they were introduced to Horizon Yachts. “We felt that the FD100 was the perfect matrix of where we want to be and where we want to end up,” says John.

After due consideration, they decided to commission a Horizon FD100 Tri-Deck, to be dubbed Jemily II as a celebration of their adventures together at sea. The decision to switch to the FD100 was not taken lightly, as it would require the couple to completely re-engineer their wants, needs, and design ideas from the ground up. The 40-foot upgrade also came with an increase in crew and, as John notes, “requiring a 5-person crew was another significant milestone for us.”

"We have achieved what we feel is the perfect combination of space and elegance."
44 horizon life VOLUME 64 // 2024
THESE PHOTOS A shared passion for the water brought together owners John and Emily (above) and is one they continue to pursue onboard Jemily II

Undaunted, the couple moved forward with the knowledge that the FD100 build was a feat they would accomplish with the support of Horizon’s in-house design teams. Throughout the build, John and Emily were thoroughly impressed with Horizon’s level of customization, noting the ability to pre-visualize every possible configuration and color combination made a significant impact on their build. “Having the option to collaborate with a semicustom builder has created so much more opportunity not only for the fit and finish of our yacht but also for the destinations we can venture to,” John says.

Their FD100 Jemily II is now the mothership to a 37’ Valhalla Center Console, an 18’ Chittum Skiff, and a plethora of toys. One of the couple’s favorite aspects of the FD100 is the comfort factor, as they can effectively and comfortably entertain their family and maximize their quality moments onboard. “Every stateroom on the boat is a perfect combination of comfort and privacy,” says Emily. They also appreciate the various exterior spaces that can be utilized to entertain, relax, and sunbathe as well as the yacht’s 6ft draft, a feature that allows them to explore a myriad of cruising grounds.

Emily has always been fond of fishing with John and the boys; she somehow always manages to catch the biggest or the most fish on any given day. Despite being John’s undisputed good-luck charm, Emily is often found enjoying the beach club or catching rays on the Sunchill water hammock, where she can spend time on the water with guests and their trusty waterdog Gus while the guys are out fishing. Emily relishes time spent not only at anchor but also island hopping as well. “Visiting different islands exposes us to all of these incredible cultures, and we get to learn what makes each island unique,” she says.

The Bahamas are favored cruising grounds for the owners, who especially love to fish, dive, and spearfish in the Exumas.

THIS PAGE From the tri-deck down to the swim platform, every entertaining area is well-loved and well-utilized by the owners, family, and friends.

The couple frequently takes breakfast on the aft deck and appreciates the easy access to the water and toys from their beach club. “Being on anchor and having a tri-deck motoryacht with as much volume as this boat has... we have achieved what we feel is the perfect combination of space and elegance,” explains John. “The large windows allow natural light, which makes your surroundings feel like the artwork on the walls,” adds Emily. Dinner is often held on the upper deck, where they can accommodate up to ten people, and this area also plays host to coffee, cocktails, and many laughs.

At night the boat has a completely different personality, with vibrant, glowing LED lights and several outdoor entertainment areas. The family is no stranger to hosting movie nights complete with their favorite snacks—buttered popcorn is a must. They frequently host parties for their favorite sports as well as game nights on the flybridge, and John and his guests often tell fish tales around the table. On the forward deck, the lounge is an entity of its own and can accommodate a small crowd. “We’ve had quite a few parties onboard and not once has the boat felt crowded,” says Emily. Since taking delivery of Jemily II, the owners have ventured to the Abacos, Exumas, and their vacation home in Treasure Key. The Exumas holds a special place in their hearts, as they have wonderful memories of visiting the pigs, diving and spearfishing the reefs, and fishing for tuna, wahoo, tarpon, and bonefish. They also look forward to their annual August trip to The Bahamas for the opening of lobster season.

The future of John and Emily’s yachting journey lies south, into the Caribbean and beyond, where the Jemily II will embark on its neverending pursuit of life well-spent on the water.

2024 Miami International Boat Show Horizon Power Catamarans returns to the Magic City with a brand new PC52

The annual Miami International Boat Show has been in a state of—or several states of—transition over the last few years. The original Miami Yacht Show on Collins Avenue moved its location to downtown Miami in 2019 and has been met with mixed reviews every year since. On hold in 2021 due to COVID-19 and finally merging with its sister show SuperYacht Miami in 2022, this year the “largest boat and yacht event in the world” (so-named for its umbrella of shows that now spans six locations and comprises the Miami International Boat Show, the Miami Yacht Show, and SuperYacht Miami) gathered an estimated 100,000 attendees over the course of five days from February 14th to 18th to browse, discover, and purchase their dream vessels.

Horizon Power Catamarans returned to the show this year with a brand new PC52 and enjoyed a high-traffic position opposite the water taxi stop on Dock B2 at the Herald Plaza marina.

“It was a surprisingly busy show that resulted in the sale of a brokerage PC52,” said The Powercat Company Sales Manager Jason Ford.

The entry-level PC52 provided a touch point to the Horizon Power Catamaran difference for show attendees, many of whom included curious monohull owners marveling at the three-stateroom layout and compact footprint that enables superior comfort and speed for island cruising.

“The PC52 is the perfect platform to step from a monohull into the power catamaran lifestyle,” says The Powercat Company Founder and CEO Richard Ford. “This latest model is ready to be outfitted and equipped to her owner’s specifications. She features an open salon in a neutral style as well as a fabulous flybridge for enjoying the surroundings in comfort.”

With a shallow, island-friendly draft of just 4’ 3”, a maximum speed of 21 knots and a 400nm range at 18 knots, the PC52 turned the heads of onlookers with her attractive blend of style and seaworthiness. She is also readily equipped with Horizon’s Victron phosphate power package system, which couples with a Termodinamica variable speed air conditioning system for minimal generator usage and maximum efficiency.

2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show

Horizon showcases something for everyone at Palm Beach

Horizon Yachts’ versatile designs, customizable layouts, and commitment to owner satisfaction were on prominent display at the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show (PBIBS), where over 55,000 visitors explored more than $1.2 billion worth of superyachts along the West Palm Beach, Florida waterfront. Located in its usual premier position on Ramp 2, Horizon’s signature blue banners and covered booth invited guests to view four displaying luxury yachts: the brand-new FD75 and E90 motoryachts as well as two brokerage superyachts, the CC115 Adagio and FD103 Tri-Deck Askari.

This multi-model lineup was of great interest to show visitors searching for build flexibility—a key feature that sets Horizon apart from its competition and one the company endeavors to discuss at length with prospective clients. Horizon also hosted current clients and repeat owners at its display, many of whom were exploring options for moving up in size, and enjoyed catching up with new and old friends at the company’s annual Friday evening cocktail party.

“Each of the four Horizon yachts at this year’s Palm Beach show offered something different in terms of style, size or layout,” says Horizon Yacht USA Director Roger Sowerbutts.

“It was fantastic to have owner-built yachts there as well to showcase not only the customizations but also Horizon’s lasting build quality.”

Featuring a contemporary European interior by FD Series designer Cor D. Rover, the brand-new FD75 was extremely well received with visitors, who commented on the intuitive layout, abundant deck areas, and stunning interior styling. With a focus on entertaining, the FD75 offers a galley-aft configuration for seamless flow between the salon and aft deck, while the flybridge houses a large alfresco area comprising a BBQ, dining, and dayhead. Guest accommodations are split between the ensuite master stateroom forward, located just a few steps below the main deck level, and three additional staterooms below deck.

Praised for her sleek exterior lines and luxurious interior, the E90 Skylounge motoryacht impressed guests with four ensuite staterooms, dedicated crew quarters, and a beach club aft—a truly unique feature on a yacht of this style and size. The enclosed skylounge provides a fully-equipped helm, two helm chairs, a dayhead, and a convertible L-shaped seating area for taking in the view from the comfort of the indoors. Aft on the boat deck, the E90 is an entertainer’s dream with a Jacuzzi tub, custom seating area, wet bar, BBQ, and expansive wraparound settee with a portside sunpad.

Taking semi-custom to a new level, the 2022 FD103 Askari is a reflection of her owner’s style and incorporates numerous bespoke Australian design elements. From level to level and stem to stern, guests were buzzing about this award-winning tri-deck’s many standout features, such as the spacious five-stateroom layout; the exquisite designer interior; the split-use skylounge with a bar and Jacuzzi; the open tri-deck with plentiful seating and sunbathing spaces; and tender stowage on the customized foredeck.

Born from collaboration between her South American owner and Cor D. Rover, the 2019 CC115 Adagio reimagines luxury for family adventures. A World Superyacht Award finalist the yacht’s voluminous 25’ beam—the first, but not the last, thing show guests reveled in upon stepping aboard —is complemented by sweeping windows and a bright and airy interior from design firm Taller ADG. Ample space is prevalent throughout the five-stateroom layout, which includes an on-deck master and a convertible crew cabin design. Additional custom designs for the owners include a Portuguese bridge, projector screen on the bow, and hidden helm station on the flybridge.

“The Palm Beach Show continues to be favored by clients and is a wonderful atmosphere for highlighting our capabilities as a yacht builder,” says Sowerbutts. “Despite the one rainy day, we are very pleased with the turnout and activity level after the show, and we look forward to new sales in the coming months as a result.”

2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show

Horizon Power Catamarans wows with its “Showcase of Silence”

Across the dock from the Horizon monohull display, Horizon Power Catamarans wow’d visitors during the four-day Palm Beach International Boat Show with an innovative “Showcase of Silence,” demonstrating the new Victron phosphate advanced power package system offering generator-free living onboard the first On-Deck Master PC68 and brand new PC60 and PC52 models.

The “Showcase of Silence” saw the global debut of the first PC68 with an On-Deck Master configuration alongside brand new PC60 and PC52 models. Demonstrating generator-free onboard comfort for up to 30 hours at anchor, the models on display were equipped with the builder’s now-standard advanced power package, which marries a Victron battery package with a Termodinamica variable speed air conditioning system.

Positioned at the head of the multi-hulled PowerCat (PC) range, the ultra-spacious Horizon PC68 model has been meticulously planned to meet and exceed the cruising needs of discerning boaters. Available in Open Salon or On-Deck Master configurations, the PC68 debuted its first Open Salon layout at the 2023 Palm Beach Show. This year the first On-Deck Master configuration PC68 was introduced to great acclaim.

PC68 Sistership

The PC68 on display features a four-stateroom layout, with the aforementioned on-deck master commanding a prominent position with panoramic windows forward on the main deck. An enviable defining feature of this model is the unique Portuguese deck seating area on the upper deck, which features convertible Hi/Lo dinettes to allow for sun beds or dining as desired. The extended flybridge and boat deck comprise plentiful seating and lounging in an inviting and enclosed space with a large dinette and a dayhead with shower, while a BBQ station, chest freezer, and a bar with fridge doors and a Scotsman icemaker are positioned aft along with a 17ft tender.

Also on display, the latest Horizon PC60 showcased an on-deck master stateroom configuration, with three additional cabins comprised of an ensuite queen and twin cabin in the starboard hull and the master ensuite with dual wash basins and a convertible twin ensuite cabin in the port hull.

Rounding out the showcase was the latest PC52 model. As the smallest offering in the Horizon Power Catamaran range, the PC52 meets the needs of catamaran enthusiasts and curious monohull owners alike, with its spacious layout comprising three staterooms and a compact footprint allowing for superior comfort and speed for enjoyable island cruising. Built on spec, this PC52 drew great interest resulting in a signed sales contract after the show.

Defined by award-winning advanced composites SCRIMP system construction that yields the most durable, lightweight hull marrying a perfect glass-to-resin ratio, with rigorous testing by the Horizon shipyard’s pioneering Non-Destructive Methods, the Horizon Power Catamaran models are designed

for quiet, stable, and efficient cruising. Silence and comfort are further enhanced through the Victron phospate battery package paired with a Termodinamica variable speed A/C system. Uniquely, the options for client customization extend well beyond soft goods and interior layout.

“We were delighted to introduce our latest models and demonstrate our commitment to silent, generator-free living during this year’s show,” says The Powercat Company Founder and CEO Richard Ford. “Offering an efficient and silent power package is the logical step for our next-generation power catamarans, and this Victron phosphate battery package allows you to run the entire boat, including air conditioning, refrigeration and freezers, for nearly 20 hours on batteries alone. This, coupled with other areas of energy savings, such as propane-fueled cooking, solar-powered systems and large alternators, goes a long way in mitigating energy consumption while making for an extremely comfortable and enjoyable cruising experience overall.”

2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show

The latest new Horizon launches on display at Sanctuary Cove

Three new highly anticipated launches for the Australian market—an FD90 Skyline, FD80 Skyline, and a V74—are on display alongside a range of Horizon brokerage yachts at the 2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Held from May 23 – 26, this year’s show boasts glamorous VIP experiences, the latest boating technology and equipment, and an estimated 47,000-plus visitors touring a wide array of luxury yacht models. The Horizon Yacht Australia (HYA) showcase is located prominently on Pier G and offers appointments for viewings throughout the show. Making its Australian debut, the new FD90 Hull 30 embodies a captivating blend of contemporary design and exceptional livability. Offering a five-stateroom layout, the FD90 Skyline promises supreme comfort for both owners and guests; the hallmark full-beam master stateroom is situated on the main deck while four generous guest staterooms reside on the lower level. The interior echoes the principles of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese design aesthetic that celebrates simplicity and natural imperfections, with light grey oak cabinetry, warm golden accents, and

curved architectural lines that flow seamlessly through the open layout. The boat deck features a sprawling entertaining area with a wet bar, Jacuzzi, and plush lounging area; and an electric sunroof provides shade at the touch of a button.

The FD80 Hull 12, also making her Australian debut at the show, incorporates a noteworthy element sure to draw visitor’s attention: built to meet Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) 2C inspection requirements, she can operate as either a private yacht or charter vessel. The modern luxe interior aesthetic is complemented by expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows in the salon, dining area, and on-deck master stateroom, bathing these spaces in natural light and breathtaking views. Comfortable accommodations include a full-beam master suite on-deck and three guest staterooms, with a convertible VIP for flexibility, below deck. Up top, the skylounge features a wet bar, teppanyaki grill, draft beer system, and sliding windows for panoramic views. The boat deck accommodates a 15ft (4.57m) tender as well as a large entertaining area, Jacuzzi with bar and three stools, and a large-capacity freezer.

A proven choice that offers impressive performance and customization options, the V74 Hull 8 is distinguished by a plumb bow design, bold exterior styling, and voluminous interior layout. The main deck welcomes guests with a bright salon, spacious galley, and country kitchen forward, while the lower deck comprises a full-beam master suite and three guest staterooms. An enclosed skylounge provides a protected helm along with a dayhead, and there is sufficient space for a tender as well as a davit on the boat deck. A beach club with lounge seating and a wet bar accesses the extended 450kg-capacity Hi/Lo swim platform for various water activities. While smaller in length than most Horizon vessels delivered in Australia, the V74 is popular with owner/operator clients who appreciate her exceptional amenities.

In addition to the three new motoryachts, HYA will showcase a selection brokerage yachts at the show in a variety of sizes, styles, and price points.

“We are delighted to offer a show lineup targeted at the region’s diverse boating audience,” says Horizon Yacht Australia Director Mark Western. “This show provides an opportunity for clients to experience the Horizon difference firsthand, from the exceptional craftsmanship of the FD90 and the uniquely Australian-tailored FD80 to the localized design elements on the V74. We look forward to seeing you at the show!”
