Nolan’s on 33rd will open for breakfast (8-10am).

Levering Kitchens will now be open for dinner (5-7pm) with meal exchange options.
Hopkins Dining was recently created in response to the University’s decision to transition to a self-operated dining model, providing the institution with more freedom in developing a program that is focused on enhancing the student experience and implementing more sustainable food practices. Among the several changes that have taken place, students are now able to experience elevated menu options at each of our dining locations.
Our residential locations, Hopkins Café and Nolan’s on 33rd, have recently introduced new station concepts including Passport (international cuisine), Hot off the Press (made-to-order paninis), & more! Additionally, retail locations such as Charles Street Market have introduced new concepts including including Village Deli and freshly rolled sushi by Bento Sushi.

2023-2024 MEAL PLANS
Hopkins Dining meal plans are comprised of two parts: meal swipes and Dining Dollars. Learn more about these options below.
• Meal swipes are the primary part of meal plans; each entry into a cafe is counted as a meal swipe.
• Meal swipes are reset each Sunday morning for the next week; unused swipes are forfeited each week.
• Swipes on the Block 80/Block 50 plans can be used at any time during the semester and reset at the beginning of each new semester.
• Meal swipes can be used in exchange for a “Meals in a Minute” to-go meal at Charles Street Market, for a dinner option at Levering Kitchens, or for up to three to-go boxes at Hopkins Café a day.
Dining Dollars are a dollar-for-dollar tender that can be used in dining retail locations such as Charles Street Market, Levering Hall, Good Part & Co., Daily Grind, and Piccola Allora. These funds are designed to complement the meal plans by allowing Blue Jays to purchase snacks, a morning or late-night coffee, or groceries to prepare a special meal for friends in their residence hall. Additional Dining Dollars can be added at any time online.
Meal plan enrollment is open through the end of September for the fall semester and through the middle of February for the spring semester via your Star Rez Housing Portal.

This plan is great if you...
Yes, you have an opportunity to change your meal plan between May 1-June 30 before billing goes out in July and then one more time for the academic year during the second week of the fall semester. You will receive an email through your JHU email account with instructions. The second week of the fall semester is the last opportunity to change your meal plan for the year once you’ve had a week to try things out on campus. Please note, there is no meal plan change period in the spring.
Unfortunately, you are unable to treat a friend to your meal plan; meal swipes are only for your personal use.
No, once you are enrolled in a meal plan, you are committed for the entire academic year unless your student status changes. You may, however, change your meal plan to another one during the meal plan change period in the fall.
Where you live on campus determines what types of meal plans you can choose from. Blue Jays living in the AMRs, Wolman, and Scott-Bates Commons can choose from certain plans designed to accommodate the needs of their residences. These locations do not have access to a full kitchen and are required to be on one of our meal plan options based on these facilities. Blue Jays living in Homewood and Bradford Apartments as well as Roger’s House have access to a full kitchen and thus have the option to enroll in any of our current meal plans.
Unspent Dining Dollars expire at the end of the academic year in May. Any unspent Dining Dollars at that time are forfeited and non-refundable. However, new for spring 2023, anyone who enrolls in a 2023-2024 meal plan before June 30, will be able to keep any remaining Dining Dollars left at end of the spring 2023 semester to use the following fall if they remain enrolled in the plan for the following year.

Hopkins Dining is proud of the products and foods we source and serve. We uphold our promise of food transparency through the use of our online menus. Students have access to food information, including nutrition labels and ingredients lists.
Hopkins Dining utilizes special iconography to make it easy for students to identify which foods contain certain allergens and the ones that align with their dietary preferences. In addition to identifying foods containing the top nine most common allergens, coconut, and gluten, Hopkins Dining also identifies food items that contain alcohol, Halal-certified meats, pork, or are vegetarian or vegan.
Some special features of our dining program include the use of Halal-certified fresh chicken products in every location and the training of staff on allergens and food safety. Hopkins Dining has a special Root station in its all-you-care-to-eat facilities that is designated to offer vegetarian and vegan dishes. Lastly, our Hopkins Café dining room does not serve items containing peanuts or tree nuts (with the exception of coconut). All students have the option to meet with the Hopkins Dining dietitian to learn how to navigate Hopkins Dining eateries.
Jacqueline Weiss, Dietitian jacqueline.weiss@jhu.eduHopkins Dining is committed to sustainability through reducing waste, embracing local and seasonal menus, supporting sustainable agricultural practices with smart procurement, and creating a food community with our broader Baltimore community.
We continue to strengthen our composting program, diverting 76 tons of food from landfill during the fall 2022 semester alone. We partner with several regional distributors to get the best local ingredients for our students. For example, all of our milk and eggs are from local, sustainability-minded farms.
We have strong connections with Baltimore-born companies like Thread Coffee Roasters, Nino’s Foods, and Old-Line Meat Company, to name a few. We also support several partners who follow the highest levels of sustainability criteria, including regenerative agriculture practices, self-sustaining green energy systems, and MSC and USDA Organic certifications.
As of spring 2023, 30% of Hopkins Dining’s partners are local, including regional farms that grow seasonal produce, sustainably caught local seafood partners, and small businesses in our community that create tasty products for our students. Three of our main distributors build their business around supporting local food systems and prioritizing small, family-owned farms when sourcing our ingredients. For example, all of our eggs and milk come from local farms that implement the highest level of humane and sustainable practices and deliver several times a week to make sure we get the freshest products possible.
In addition, we source from 40 minority-, women-, or black-owned businesses, 85% of which are local. We pride ourselves on putting money back into the local economy and supporting businesses who often do not receive the financial backing they deserve. Hopkins Dining is looking forward to the continued growth of our sustainable and equitable purchasing practices.
At Hopkins Dining, your feedback is valuable to us. With our Text ‘n Tell program, you can send your comments, concerns, and questions to a dining location of your choice where managers view your suggestions and respond to them. Once they do, your feedback and their comments will be displayed publicly in the dining locations!
