YEAR NINE

2025 - Year of the Open Door
As we find ourselves at the beginning of 2025, Angela and I have never been more excited, filled with hope, and looking forward to all God has in store for Hope City Church. We have been overwhelmed by the response of our church family to this year’s 21 days of prayer and fasting. We have seen record attendance night after night, and the level of those engaging in prayer, worship, and fasting has been inspiring. Revivalist and founder of the Wesleyan and Methodist Church, John Wesley, said, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” This year will be a monumental year as we prepare to celebrate 10 years of God’s faithfulness and favor on our church. What began as a small group of friends has grown into a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multisite church family across the Cedar Valley and beyond. When I think about Hope City Church, I can’t help but think of the amazing Grow Teamers who, week in and week out, serve on teams during our weekend experiences, throughout the week in our student ministries, in outreaches, and in our Dream Center and Anamosa Campus. Jesus said, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18ESV Truly, Jesus is building His church at Hope City. As we close out the year and head into the new year, I have a routine of taking intentional time to seek God regarding where we need to focus as a church for the upcoming year. Last year, I knew that 2024 would be a year of advancing and expanding. We knew we were going to open up our broadcast location and relaunch High Street, but what none of us saw coming was us expanding our reach in Anamosa by opening up a campus! Every week, 70+ men in the prison gather on Sunday for our weekend services. They are leading grow teams, teaching Growth Track, leading MC’s throughout the week, and even tithing and giving to Legacy! Only God could have known this. I believe that 2025 will be the year of the open door. While we never see the full picture because God wants us to live by faith. I do believe that we have clarity concerning what God wants to do in at least four areas.
• Advancing Church (doors of opportunities opening) Revelation 3:7-8
• Worshipping Church (intimacy with God) Revelation 3:20
• Missional Church (openness to the gospel) 2 Corinthians 2:12NLT
• Praying Church (prevailing prayer) Matthew 7:7-8
As doors open, let’s walk through them with faith and humility. As you read through these numbers and read these stories of real people whose lives have been changed by Jesus, we pray that your heart would be strengthened, your service would take on new meaning, and your generosity be justified. None of this would have happened without you. Thank you for making Hope City home and the people who attend, family. My prayer is that this annual report will cause you to rejoice, weep, and ready yourself for what God will do through you in 2025 as we continue the mission of helping people Know God, Find Community, Discover Purpose and Make a Difference.
Love, Pastors Q and Angela

THE SMITH FAMILY - MISSIONARIES
For the past seven years, Pastor Mason Smith has been an integral part of Hope City Church, leading with passion, dedication, and a heart for the next generation. His leadership in Hope City Future has impacted countless lives, shaping students and young adults into strong disciples of Jesus. Alongside his wife, Hannah, and their sons, Mason has faithfully served, not just as a leader, but as family. Their love for this church and its people has been evident in everything they’ve done. His gratitude for this community speaks volumes, and we are forever thankful for the way the Smith family has poured their hearts into this house.
Now, God is calling Mason, Hannah, and their boys into a new chapter—Global Missions. As they step back into the mission field, they do so more equipped, connected, and passionate than ever. This is not goodbye; rather, it is a continuation of the calling God has placed on their lives. As a church, we stand with them, supporting their journey and believing that God will use them in powerful ways. Their obedience to God’s call is inspiring, and we are honored to be part of their story.
Mason, Hannah, we are so proud of you! Your faithfulness, leadership, and love for people have left a lasting legacy at Hope City. While your roles are shifting, your impact and influence remain. We will continue to support you in prayer, believing for favor, protection, and fruitfulness in this next season. Thank you for giving your best to this church family—this remains your HOME!
NATIONAL PARTNERS
ARC
As a church that partners with ARC, we are celebrating the incredible impact of church planting around the world! Thanks to your prayers, generosity, and partnership, 35 new churches were launched in 2024, bringing the total number of ARC churches to an amazing 1,132. On launch days alone, 13,781 people attended, and most importantly, 890 made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus. Together, we are making a difference and seeing the Kingdom of God expand in powerful ways! To see more of what God is doing through ARC, check out arcchurches. com/2024-year-in-review.
Highlands College
Hope City Church is proud to partner with Highlands College in raising up the next generation of church leaders. Through our financial support, we have helped send Meia Ledesma and Alivia Lange to Highlands, investing in their growth and calling. This fall, we are also sending our part-time staff member and Waterloo Kids City Worship Coordinator, Jensen Trotter, as she steps into her next season of ministry training after graduating high school. We believe in equipping passionate leaders to make a lasting impact for the Kingdom! Check out their annual report at www.highlandscollege.edu/annualimpactreport/

NOAH GOES TO HIGHLANDS!

This summer, we had the privilege of having Noah Putz as our Production Intern, and we couldn’t be more proud of the man he has become! Noah’s journey at Hope City started as a teenager in Future, our student ministry, where he grew in faith, leadership, and purpose. Now, as a young man, he is fully engaged in the life of the church, making a real difference. He stepped up in a big way this summer, leading the **Audio Team at our High Street campus** while also completing a welding program at Hawkeye Community College
Noah’s heart for serving is undeniable. Not only has he been a committed leader in production, but he also continues to invest in the next generation by serving at Future and staying actively involved in our Young Adult Ministry. He also participated in the Forge Men’s Intensive, leaning into intentional discipleship and spiritual growth. His dedication to both his personal and spiritual development is inspiring!
We are thrilled to announce that Noah is now taking the next step in his journey, pursuing a degree in Stage Management at Church of the Highlands. As he prepares to leave this August, let’s continue to pray for him—asking God to guide, strengthen, and equip him for all that’s ahead. Noah, we are so proud of you and grateful for the impact you’ve made at Hope City. Your church family is cheering you on!

Noah Putz and Jasmine McCormick, our Worship Director at High Street campus! Both have a heart for worship and production, and fun fact— Jasmine graduated from Church of the Highlands, where Noah is heading this fall to study Stage Management.
