“As a tutor I learned that the key to success is having empathy with your student. It does not matter how much of a subject you know, if you cannot communicate that on the child’s level you’re not going to get very far.

That belief and that understanding is what I’ve used to develop Simply Learning Tuition and it’s what we expect our consultants and our tutors to bring to every family we work with.

Everything we do is driven by the needs of your child and your family. That means there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach, rather a belief that every child can fulfil their potential with the right support and encouragement.

What that means in practice is that every tutoring enquiry or education consultation will start with a conversation about your educational aspirations and your child’s academic experiences so far. Getting to know your family well is what allows us to be as successful as we are in identifying the tutor, school, university or mentor that will be right for your child.

We’re also very aware that what’s right can change over time. It may be that a school move or period of home schooling is needed to help your child get back on track. If that’s the case our team can help your family make that journey as rewarding and effortless as possible.

Our goal is always to ensure the children we work with enjoy their academic journey and are happy, confident and successful.

“Thanks to Andrea’s tutoring of our daughter – she received news this morning that she has been accepted into her first choice school. This wouldn’t have been possible without Andrea’s assistance. Thanks again for connecting us.

Mr C, LA and London, international, in person and online tuition

Simply Learning Tuition (SLT) helps you find the right nursery, school, university, tutor or mentor for your child.

We’re trusted by thousands of families from London, the UK and across the world to do just that. Some of those families have been kind enough to provide the testimonials used in these pages. We hope their words will give you an insight into the experience of taking this journey with SLT by your side.

Our Education Consultancy team’s in-depth knowledge of the UK’s leading schools, nurseries and universities is second to none. This means they’re well-placed to advise not only on the UK private school system and the choices that best suit your child but also on the various and often complex application processes.

The tutors we represent provide over 50,000 hours of tuition each year to families in the UK and over 30 countries across the world. They offer after-school, residential, online and international tutoring as well as home schooling. We also have tutors who are expert at working with children who are preparing for scholarships, are gifted and talented or who have specific learning difficulties.

At the heart of SLT is the very firm belief that each child’s education should be right for them and free from the expectations of keeping up with the crowd. It’s the best way to ensure that every child can reach their full potential.

Nathaniel McCullagh

Senior School Specialist, Founder and Managing Director

Nathaniel founded Simply Learning Tuition in 2009 after working as a private tutor in London. He has a firm belief in the effectiveness of carefullymanaged one-to-one tuition and now focuses on advising parents and working with head teachers and other educationalists in the UK and overseas. He helped establish the Tutors’ Association panel for Continuing Professional Development, is a safeguarding trustee for Tutor The Nation and a key supporter of the development of enhanced standards in private tuition.

Sophie Taylor Barthorpe

Director of Tuition and University Placement Specialist

Sophie joined SLT in 2014 after a Master’s degree in Arts and Heritage Management. She has since worked with thousands of our families and has a detailed understanding of the UK independent education system. Specialising in our Home Schooling and International Placements, Sophie also leads our University Admissions Consultancy. During her early education Sophie was supported by private tutors, so appreciates how effective good tuition is for results, confidence and wellbeing.

Our office team

Sophie and Nathaniel are supported by a team of office-based Client Managers and Education Consultants who ensure you receive outstanding support and advice from SLT.

Our external consultants

We also work with a range of consultants, all specialists in their fields. They are head teachers, professors, admissions tutors and department heads at the highest level of UK independent schools and universities. Their knowledge is invaluable to students preparing for school or university admissions.

Simply Learning Tuition arranges more than 50,000 hours of tuition each year for families in the UK and over 30 other countries around the world.

No matter whether you are looking for an after-school tutor, an online tutor, a residential tutor or a tutor to travel with your family, the Simply Learning Tuition team will be able to help. We represent tutors who specialise in every age group and subject - from early years right through to degree level - as well as supporting students with specific learning difficulties.

Each tutor is personally known to us and highly vetted. They have impeccable academic backgrounds and a passion and enthusiasm for teaching. Each introduction is made after an in-depth consultation with a member of our team who specialises in the age group of your child.

In all cases the match will be precise in academic terms, down to the level of experience with the school entrance exam, or national exam board. But truly effective private tuition relies on a tutor’s natural ability to mentor, generate trust and in many ways become a role model for their student. That’s why taking the time at the start to get to know your family is so important - it’s what enables us to introduce a tutor who will be well-matched to your child.

A typical tutor

All the tutors we work with are of the highest calibre. Omari’s profile gives great insight into the types of skills and experience we expect.

Omari Eccleston-Brown has worked with SLT for over 10 years. His passion for tutoring began at school when, over three years he tutored two boys with severe learning difficulties. He quickly discovered how rewarding it can be to make such a difference in someone’s life.

He graduated from New College, Oxford, in 2009 with a 2:1 in English and Spanish. Since then he’s tutored over 100 pupils ranging from 7 year olds to mature, busy professionals!

Omari has supported students in gaining entrance to some of the UK’s most competitive schools, is a TEFL qualified teacher and also teaches the IELTS and the UKiset. His specialist subjects are Spanish, English, Latin and Classics and he also has broad experience in all core subjects up to KS4.

For US university admissions

Omari tutors in SAT general preparation as well as English and Spanish SAT subject test preparation. Having been an Oxford University student liaison officer he knows and understands the Oxbridge admissions process from the inside out.

In addition to working as a tutor, Omari is also a broadcast journalist for the BBC and a published author.

“Each new pupil is different, but each a pleasure and a unique challenge. And throughout these different challenges I believe I’ve got consistent results because I always treat each pupil as they deserve to be treated –as an individual. That means no matter their age, or if they are being home schooled, have learning difficulties or speak English as a second language; there’s always a way to make learning fun and accessible and, most importantly – productive.

In all subjects, rather than a narrow definition of the syllabus, I stretch my students to explore the potential beyond the curriculum and develop a really personal enjoyment of the subject that will help them to thrive.”

For many families, their education consultant becomes a trusted sounding board at every step of their child’s education journey.

Our education consultants include head teachers, sixth-form heads, Oxford admissions tutors and US university specialists. These external consultants work alongside our in-house team and their combined knowledge is invaluable to both parents and students. They really do know the system better than anyone else and can provide practical guidance on everything from London nursery placements and school choices through to advice on undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Our education consultants can also help provide a structured path through difficult situations such as a sudden need for a change of school, or diagnosing and working with special educational needs. This kind of early intervention can have a marked impact on a student’s trajectory, improving their future results and options at GCSE, IB and A-level.

Our mentors - professional tutors with specialist mentoring skills - can have a highly positive impact.

Stress can hit any young person, whether they’re struggling or they’re the most successful person in their school. Our tutors are all natural mentors, but if a child is feeling under pressure then having a separate mentor to talk to and plan with can often make a difference. Academic mentoring can also help with the practical side of study, such as time management, revision planning, exercise, and even making sure your child is eating properly when away from home.

“(SLT introduced) an extraordinarily gifted tutor. An educational psychologist as well as a teacher, she makes it her job to get to know each pupil as an individual and helps them build a personal toolbox of techniques for problemsolving, revision and writing. The result, for us, was that our daughter went into her Maths A-level resit with far more confidence than last year, knowing that she had the tools to solve whatever question was put before her. I have never come across a tutor like (her).

Mrs R, A-level Maths tuition

“Simply Learning Tuition has provided me with hands-on, proactive and compassionate guidance since I first used their services in 2014 to find a prep school place for my daughter. I am not British and was not educated in the UK so having an advisor on hand to talk me through each stage of the process was invaluable.

As I wasn’t very familiar with the regulations and rules they provided tremendous help finding home tutors until my daughter settled in a school, not to mention attending meetings with me and making the transition very easy to cope with for both me and my daughter.

“ Katie and her team recommended several nurseries to us and we were impressed by her understanding of Meredith’s needs. It really helped us.

Mrs C, Battersea, London, nursery placement

The right nursery builds confidence, improves language and social skills, helps develop your child’s imagination and strengthens other key skills.

Whether you are planning to register your child at a nursery at birth, have just moved to a new area or are up against a really tight deadline, expert input can make all the difference in securing a place.

Our consultants take care to understand your family’s aspirations and the style of early education you want for your child. They have a comprehensive knowledge of the best nurseries and pre-preparatory schools across London and the South East, and the admissions processes for each.

Location is only one element in the jigsaw. Our consultants consider the atmosphere and ethos of a nursery, class sizes and the experience of the Principal and staff. Links with preparatory schools are also assessed where a nursery may be a route to a particular school.

This trusted, independent advice helps you prepare your child for their first steps into formal education.

“ Thanks to Simply Learning’s kind and attentive assistance, Ella has secured a Year 8 chance space at Francis Holland.

Mr B, Washington DC, senior school placement

Finding the school that best suits your child is one of your most important decisions as a parent.

Across the UK there are almost 2,500 independent schools, from the big names to some little-known gems. Although many parents already have a good idea of what kind of school they are looking for, the choice can be daunting - particularly for families who are new to the British Independent School system.

It’s also a choice that’s about more than just coffee-circle chat or league tables. There are many factors that affect your child’s ability to reach their full potential. Amongst other things you need to consider a school’s values and ethos and how they fit with your own, the ways the school helps your child explore and build character and how they support the general wellbeing and happiness of each child.

Our education consultants include head teachers and sixth-form heads who have precious first hand information about the schools you are considering. The result is a strong team that can support you, share their knowledge and simplify the process for you. We provide practical guidance on everything from preparatory through to senior school placements and can manage the whole process on your behalf, or provide specific support at certain stages along the way.

The Simply Learning Tuition team’s in-depth knowledge of the UK’s best preparatory and senior schools and can help you find the school that best suits your child and your family.

“This firm clearly brings a caring and compassionate perspective to its services, but combines this with technological efficiency and excellent people management practices - a very buttoned-down intelligent group of people with a bigger-picture awareness.

Winner of the ‘Relocate Global’ Award for: Excellence in Education Consultancy 2019 Excellence in Employee and Family Support 2017

Relocating to the UK adds an extra pressure to choosing the right school. Timelines are often tight and there are registration processes and entrance assessments to contend with before you can secure a place for your child.

Our education consultants offer the independent, informed advice you need to make these important decisions and navigate an unfamiliar school system. They will take the time to find out what you want from a school and then help you draw up a realistic shortlist of schools that will provide the very best experience for you and your child.

We can offer the support your child will need to prepare for the assessments by introducing expert private tutors with experience in the entrance exams your child will need to take. Your consultant can also accompany you on school visits to offer real-time advice.

We regularly visit schools and have formed close relationships with many head teachers, and registrars as a result. This ensures we have privileged and up-to-date information that goes beyond the glossy prospectuses and websites. It also means we can often make personal recommendations to a school based on our knowledge of your child as we can vouch for their academics and good character. This can be particularly helpful when your relocation schedule means applying to schools at short notice.

The Simply Learning Tuition School Finder is a free resource to help you start your journey to finding the right school for your child.

Go to our website, enter some information about the type of school you’re looking for and our School Finder will produce a shortlist of schools that match your criteria.

For each school you’ll find details about their application processes, their size and entry routes as well as their ethos and their values - all in the school’s own words. We’ve included contact details, names of essential contacts, links to the schools’ websites and more. There are also suggestions about key things to consider when assessing schools and information about where to get more help.

The aim of this is to put you well on your way to discovering the school that will be right for your family and your child. If you’d like more help along the way our education consultancy team is always available.

“Our tutor, Nicolas, was great. He bonded with James from the start over a shared love of all things Japanese and got him laughing at the very first lesson. He was experienced with children so was able to be firm and focused without needing to be heavy-handed. James looked forward to his sessions with Nicolas as a fun time with a friend. Nicolas gave honest feedback to both James and me on his progress and this allowed me to support his efforts outside of the lessons. I would recommend him to other parents and would like to thank Simply Learning for all the support we have received on this journey.

James was offered at all three schools he sat exams for, including Bancroft’s, Forest and Chigwell Schools. He was the only child to do this in his school. We took some time to take this in but have now accepted a place at Bancroft’s school for September.

TUTORING

» 7 Plus and 8 Plus tutors

» 11 Plus tutors

» 13 Plus tutors

» GCSE and IGCSE tutors

» A-level and IB tutors

» Home schooling

» Live-in tutors

» International tutors

The 7 Plus and 8 Plus entrance exams are used by most independent preparatory schools. Getting the right support can be key to securing a place.

Every tutor we introduce specialises in teaching the younger years and has experience of helping children secure entry into some of the UK’s most competitive schools. Maths, English, and verbal reasoning tests are standard and some schools may also include PE and Art sessions in the assessment.

The tutors use a variety of fun and engaging methods to develop the core literacy and numeracy skills required for each specific assessment. They will also introduce your child to exam technique, helping them to understand potentially difficult questions and how to demonstrate their knowledge in key areas.

These exams are a vital stepping stone for your child’s academic career. For this reason we advise preparing well in advance, putting the support in place to give your child every chance of success.

The 11 Plus exam governs admission to many independent and grammar schools across the UK. Early preparation is key and gives your child the confidence to excel.

11 Plus assessment usually includes literacy, numeracy, verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests. Many schools also insist on one or more pre-tests and often use their own variants of the standard exams. This makes it particularly important to know which schools your child is aiming for, what they will be expected to do and when they will need to do it. We introduce tutors who have experience of the tests applied by each particular school so they can help guide you through the process.

As well as considering the schools you are applying to we also introduce tutors who will best suit your child’s personality and learning style. We believe this is key to unlocking potential and enabling your child to succeed.

The earlier tuition can begin the better. We usually suggest 12 - 18 months of gentle preparation starting with an initial assessment to work out where to focus tuition. The good news is that any support focused on the 11 Plus will pay dividends for your child’s general schoolwork.

The 13 Plus or ‘Common Entrance’ is the entrance exam which determines entry into many UK independent schools. It is broader than any exam your child will have tackled before.

The 13 Plus covers English, Maths and Science as well as additional papers for anything from French and Religious Studies through to Latin or Classical Greek. Many schools set their own exam papers while others use the Independent Schools Examination Board’s standard tests. The range of subjects alone can seem daunting.

Private tuition can give your child the tools they need to secure a place at one of the UK’s leading senior schools. Importantly, tutoring is about not only covering the academic curriculum but also helping your child to improve the effectiveness of their work, exam technique and interview preparation.

To get full benefits from their course of tuition, it is important that your child works with a tutor who complements their character and learning style. Our tutor introduction service is guaranteed to match your child with a tutor who is the right fit for them.

“Jack came to tutor our 13 year old son for his Common Entrance exam at Eton College. After a day or so his charisma had attracted all 5 children to request tutoring! He turned Timothy from a predicted/mock grade C to achieving a grade A and the highest CE pass from his school. He has been accepted to Eton.

Mrs W, Wiltshire, Eton 13+ Common Entrance tuition

At GCSE level, it is important to work with a tutor with excellent subject knowledge who also knows exactly what is required for the syllabus your child will be examined in.

GCSE and IGCSE tuition is available online and in person. It can be delivered weekly over a longer term, or as a short-term intensive course to help with exam revision.

When we send you a profile of the tutor we recommend, you will be able to see full details of their qualifications, previous results and testimonials. We know each tutor personally and ensure your son or daughter works with someone they will bond with and who will be able to teach to their individual learning style.

Success in GCSE exams and coursework requires students to identify and fill gaps in subject knowledge and learn how to approach questions correctly to achieve the best possible marks. After an initial assessment, the tutor will build your child’s knowledge of the subject and provide valuable assistance with time management and exam skills. This joined-up, holistic approach to homework, coursework and revision will help your child get the GCSE grades they need for the next stage of their academic journey.

The A-level or IB years can be particularly tricky for students as they need to balance academic demands with vital decisions about their future.

The tutors we recommend at this stage are all natural mentors. Their relevant teaching experience enables them to provide tailored lessons that will help your child to increase their levels of attainment.

Every tutor has a history of effective A-level or IB tuition in the subjects your child is studying. They offer support in all the key syllabus requirements as well as advice on revision and exam techniques. We keep in touch with you to hear how your child is doing and can increase or decrease tuition accordingly, depending on progress in each area.

We carefully match each private tutor to your child’s learning style and requirements to ensure that they successfully engage and motivate your son or daughter.

A tutor’s input can be invaluable when considering options for further education. Importantly they can also teach your child the skills they need for an outstanding UCAS application for university.

Home schooling can be a great solution to cover a gap between schools or for the longer-term.

Simply Learning Tuition works with specialist tutors to provide home schooling in London, across the UK and anywhere in the world. Our experts will talk with you about your child’s goals and how they learn best and then introduce home school tutors to match your child’s educational needs and personality as well as your family’s lifestyle.

From day-to-day lesson plans to historical and cultural trips and music or sports activities, the tutors create an environment that keeps learning fresh and engaging. Combined with their passion, enthusiasm, academic excellence and long-term commitment this ensures the whole experience is positive.

Families choose to home school for many reasons; sometimes to suit their lifestyle but more often because of an acute learning difficulty, or mental health issue that prevents their son or daughter from accessing the curriculum effectively. Home schooling means lessons are delivered at a pace your child is comfortable with and teaching methods can be adjusted to suit your child’s learning style. In many cases this can transform your child’s life; the one to one focus quickly builds confidence, in turn delivering improvements in results.

Home schooling offers an intensive, highly focused approach which may be useful when preparing for examinations. SLT can register your child for any exams they may need to sit, including (I)GCSE, A Level or the IB.

A tutor who lives with your family can support your son or daughter in many different ways – from helping them prepare for exams to providing them with full-time home schooling.

As well as having outstanding teaching credentials, tutors are carefully selected to be a trustworthy and discreet role model. The tutor will not only match your child’s educational needs and personality, but also blend in seamlessly with your family’s lifestyle. They stay with or close to your family and support your child’s learning wherever you are and whatever the subject and academic level.

In many cases the impact of a live-in tutor is transformative. They create a structured learning program that is focused on your child’s academic progression and is delivered at a pace your child is comfortable with. Lessons can also be adapted to your environment, often using local history and culture to make the learning experience even more enjoyable.

“I was so pleased with every aspect - from my very first time speaking with you, through to Eleanor’s final departure. Thank you for everything!!”

Mrs D, Austin, Texas, A family working with an international travelling tutor

For families who live or are travelling outside the UK, residential specialist tutors can increase your child’s knowledge and build their confidence in ways that are often transformative.

International tutors have the unique ability to deliver an effective and inspiring education outside the confines of a regular classroom. Their services can range from a few hours a day of after-school tutoring, to full-time home schooling, or preparation for entrance to a UK school or university.

In some cases, tutors work with young sports stars, actors or musicians whose work schedule makes it impossible for them to attend regular school. A professional tutor may also be appropriate where there are concerns about the quality of a local school, or its ability to cater for your child’s specific needs.

Whatever your situation we listen carefully to your requirements and help you choose the solution that best fits your family’s lifestyle. In some cases, this is a full-time tutor; in others a holiday or online tutor may be all that is needed. Timeframes for a placement depend on your requirements but can be as short as 48 hours.

We place particular importance on introducing a tutor who will balance your child’s pastoral and academic needs. Every tutor is rigorously vetted and you can be reassured you are working with a professional who you can trust with your child’s education.

ASSESSMENTS

“Erin’s assessment report is very helpful and highlights the areas we need to work on. I’m pleased we did the assessment as it provides a clear idea of which areas require work.

Mrs H, 11+ academic assessment

An in-depth, personalised assessment and analysis of your child’s strengths and weaknesses can make all the difference to their education journey.

Assessments enable your child to get the best from private tuition and effectively prepare for exams, entrance tests or interviews. They can help identify the tutors, schools and universities that will best suit your child and their learning style. Regular assessments can also track progress, set goals and focus additional support if needed.

Our assessment team is made up of expert educators, including senior tutors, teachers and education consultants. If additional support might be required their experience enables them to carry out more complex assessments relating to CELF and speech and language processing disorders. We can also provide access to educational psychologists to diagnose dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and other behavioural issues.

In every case our aim remains the same: to put each child in a position to learn in the way that best suits their individual style and needs.

“Simply Learning Tuition proved to be an incredibly valuable resource throughout my journey towards postgraduate study in London. From the in-depth exploration of my academic interests to the personal attention I received during the application process, working with Sophie and the team at SLT provided the necessary support to realize my academic goals. Relocating to a city as diverse and multifaceted as London can be daunting but, with the help of such an engaged and knowledgeable organisation, I am confident in my ability to successfully navigate my new home and academic programme.

“ Miles helped me with every step of the Oxford application process - his comments made my personal statement in particular much stronger. I was so happy to tell him that I had been offered a place!

JF, Oxford placement

Every year Simply Learning Tuition helps students from all over the world secure places at Oxford, Cambridge, and other leading British and European universities.

University admission is highly competitive and outstanding grades are just part of the selection criteria. An impressive personal statement, being ‘well-read’ having the right work experience and extra-curricular activities, being well prepared for interview and in some cases passing entrance exams, are all essential parts of a successful application. The support and guidance of an experienced and knowledgeable university consultant to combine the many working parts can make all the difference to a successful application.

We guide students to ensure their UCAS personal statements are exemplary and provide introductions to specialist tutors to help prepare your child for admission exams and interviews.

If your child is still at an early stage in their academic career, our preplanning service lays the ground work and sets them on a trajectory that ensures the best possible chance of admission.

In all cases we take the time to discuss and understand your son or daughter’s academic and career aspirations and help them identify the degree and academic institution that will suit them best.

Simply Learning Tuition helps demystify many of the complex aspects of the academic landscape. They go above and beyond to ensure that unfamiliar environment becomes a little more familiar every day.

Mr D, ESM, Paddington London, UK university admission

If your child is applying to American universities, our education consultants and specialist tutors can offer invaluable advice.

Our US specialists are trained professionals who know exactly how to support your teenager through the complex and heavy workload associated with applying to universities in the US. To ensure students get the most accurate and up-to-date tuition and advice we work with select US college counsellors and SAT tutors from leading Ivy-League US universities.

The US application process can seem daunting and requirements often go far beyond the Common Application. Your consultant will first work with you to establish which universities to apply to and help with planning visits. Then they’ll break down the specific requirements and timings for each application and develop a plan that will give your child the best chance of success.

SATs and ACTs are challenging and very different to UK exams so we have specialist tutors to teach the specific curriculum required. The tutors will also help your child to prepare for the all-important interview process.

The aim always is to give your child the very best chance of successfully gaining a place at the institution of their choice.

MENTORING

“Russell has been a wonderful tutor for my son and daughter. He has been patient, kind, insightful, intuitive, inspiring and a real positive force in the children’s educational lives.

Mrs C, 11+ and 13+ preparation

Stress can impact any young person. A mentor who listens, who they can talk to and plan with can often make all the difference.

The mentoring programme is tailored to the needs of each child or young adult. Our academic mentors can offer invaluable help with the practical side of study, such as time management, revision planning and exercise. Pastoral mentors are able to support students who might be struggling or need a trusted sounding board. As students move on to university a mentor can help with the transition and their guidance can help students to make the right decisions.

Mentors are always professional tutors, who have a particular empathy or skill for guiding and developing emotional confidence in their students. They are trained to understand what a student really wants and needs in order to provide meaning in their life. They work in a way that does not blame or shame the student and instead helps them to develop important life skills such as confidence and resilience.

Mentoring is initially carried out face-to-face to build trust and respect. Once that is established a more flexible, hybrid framework of in-person and online sessions can be used. This allows the relationship between student and mentor to be meaningful in the longer term, no matter where home, school, university or careers may take them.

“I would not hesitate to recommend Ellie. She is extremely patient, very helpful and organised and really knows her stuff. She will find a way for you to understand something even if she has to explain it in 100 different ways ... I could not have found a better tutor.

Each year SLT makes over 1,000 tutor placements, all of which are subject and curriculum specific.

100% of our scholarship students have got into the schools of their choice.

Our home school team has a 100% track record of success in helping children return to mainstream education, across a range of challenges including illness, anxiety and acute learning difficulties.

97% of our clients would refer SLT to their friends.

85% of our students achieved an A or A*.

74% of our students saw an improvement of between 1 and 3 grades.

SLT was chosen as one of less than 40 tuition partners in the UK Government’s National Tutoring Programme.

The exemplary quality of our tutors, our extensive review processes and our Continuing Professional Development set Simply Learning Tuition apart.

Guaranteeing these high standards begins with an iron-clad recruitment process. Of the 1,000 or so tutors who apply to work with us each year, we take on less than 10.

Our existing cohort of tutors numbers several hundred, all of whom are known to us personally and have remained with us over many clients and several years. 53% are qualified teachers. All of the others have been tutoring professionally for, in most cases, several thousand hours delivered over many years. This brings a wealth of talent and experience, as well as increased understanding of the way students like to work.

Regular check ups and reviews of lesson progress ensure a rigid focus on improvement. Fresh ideas (and issues) are discussed with tutors and other stakeholders, including schools and parents. This open communication ensures the best possible outcomes.

We provide regular CPD and training sessions for our tutors. These include discussions with leading educationalists, such as school head teachers and heads of sixth form on issues ranging from careers guidance and how to help students prepare for exams through to advice on teaching, online tutoring and effective homework.

This combination of outstanding tutors, industry-leading CPD, open communication and regular reviews ensures we deliver the very best learning experience for your child.

Simply Learning Tuition is passionate about the role education plays in helping people reach their full potential in life.

We put this belief into practice both at home and abroad through our well-established outreach programme. Every member of our team is also given paid time out of the office each week to help a local charity.

TUTOR THE NATION

Nathaniel McCullagh, our founder, is a safeguarding trustee for this new educational charity. It aims to address learning loss by providing disadvantaged children with free online tuition from university students and graduates.

SHIVIA

This UK-based charity runs social enterprises and training schemes to help lift some of West Bengal’s poorest communities out of poverty. We are firm believers that education goes beyond the classroom, and are proud to support a charity that develops life and business skills.

ZIMBABWE RURAL SCHOOLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Promoting education around the world is something we care about deeply. As well as donating money we also hope to send a tutor to Zimbabwe to help ZRSDP to fulfil their mission to improve educational opportunities in rural communities.

THE SQUAD

Our Tuition Manager, Sophie Taylor Barthorpe, helps run the Thursday Club at this vibrant youth club for people with learning disabilities.

“An established high-end tutor agency with top drawer tutors available for most educational needs. Expect a hand holding mentality and customer service that is second to none.

‘Efficient,’ ‘professional,’ ‘patient’ and ‘supportive,’ say parents, who also praise the ‘warm, family feel’ and ‘unbeatable’ responsiveness. ‘Never known any company so quick – they even get back to you over the weekend,’ said one.

‘They listen,’ said a particularly relieved client who had been disappointed with other big name tutor agencies (she wasn’t the only one we spoke to in this situation). ‘Nathaniel is extremely bright and calm and has quite a lot of contacts,’ was another typical comment. As for tutors, several told us this was far and away their ‘favourite agency to work for,’ citing the ‘exceptional office staff’ as a key reason. ‘I have always enjoyed the professional and considered approach of the people who work at SLT, who are committed to high standards in their work. It’s my preferred agency to work for from the many in London,’ said one.

Several parents told us the company excelled at providing the right tutors for more than one of their children. One father of five children – ‘all with different needs’ - told us he’d used them for over a decade because of ‘their unwavering service and their incomparable portfolio of expert and supportive tutors.’

From The Good Schools Guide 2021

Individual tuition can rebuild the child’s selfesteem and restore their will to try again and to begin to love learning.

... whether you are looking to home school your child, prepare for an exam, or secure a place at a top London Day or Country Boarding School, we are confident they [SLT] can help you get there.

“Almost overnight Freya went from dreading lessons to happily sitting down to an hour of maths in a makeshift classroom on the first floor” with the help of a tutor we introduced.

For many of the families we work with on a school placement or relocation, a school move also entails a home move.

To support these families, we are partnered with Hutton Bubear, a property company who offer property search services for families looking to acquire homes across London & the Country. They can advise on all aspects of your move and work closely with a fantastic array of trusted advisors to assist you through the process.

Hutton Bubear sponsor SLT’s School Finder, an online search tool which gives parents a comprehensive guide to the leading independent schools in the UK.

While SLT’s experienced team of education consultants help you find and secure a place at the best-fit school for your child, Hutton Bubear can lead the search for a new family home.

Charlie Bubear, Managing Partner at Hutton Bubear, feels the partnership offers excellent value to SLT families:

“This is a natural collaboration as schools often drive life decisions which inherently involve property. We have had great success moving clients from all over the world and this natural synergy between our firms further enhances our ability to help find both the perfect home as well as school.”

SLT founder, Nathaniel McCullagh, says:

“When we work with a family on a school placement, finding the right home near the best-fit school is a key part of the puzzle. We were delighted that Charlie and his team were able to help a school placement family we had been working with relocate to London this summer. In two weeks they went from first viewing to completion, which is spectacular.”
