OURA LAB Fall 2023
The Office of Undergraduate Research and Artistry (OURA) is currently seeking students to apply for OURA Lab This is designed to support underrepresented students in STEMM and provides a scaffolded, communityoriented environment that builds confidence and independence in research environments.
This is a paid position. Preference for first year students. No science background required. Approximately 5-6 hours/week for a 6-week experience.
Leave with the skills and confidence to paricipate successfully in other mentored research projects.

Behavioral Medicine Lab Participants
CSU's Behavioral Medicine Lab is recruiting participants for a research study comparing walking in Virtual Reality environments with walking in real life (IRB#3526).
Adults (18+ years) are eligible to participate if they are in good enough health to walk for up to 30 minutes, and do not experience dizziness, epilepsy, vertigo, or any other problems that would preclude them from using virtual reality technology.
Participants can receive up to $24 for completing 2 brief visits (1 hour each) during which they walk in Old Town Fort Collins and in a virtual model of Old Town.

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
Attention all junior/senior undergraduates and first- and second-year graduate students!
The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) provides fellowships to graduate students in STEM fields Fellows receive 3 years of a $37,000 stipend, as well as opportunities to do research abroad or intern for a government agency.
On August 29, 2023, the CSU Graduate Professional Development Series and the Office for Scholarship and Fellowship Advising (OSFA) hosted the session: Components of a Strong Application for NSF's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). If you were unable to attend or would like to review anything you may have missed, the session was recorded and can be found here. The recording, as well as presentation slides, successful application examples, and other helpful information are located in this google drive for prospective applicants to peruse.
The Office for Scholarship and Fellowship Advising (OSFA) has recently launched a Canvas module, “Getting Started with the NSF GRFP: An Introductory Course.” This online, multimedia module is meant for any student planning to apply for the GRFP. In addition to the module, OSFA is available to help applicants virtually or in-person, provide feedback, and answer questions in real time.
We will also be offering remote application editing and small group editing/accountability pods. Current Fellows will be available to provide feedback and edit completed applications in early October. To assist those looking for more feedback and an earlier start on their applications, we will be facilitating small group editing pods of applicants in similar fields, to provide writing accountability and additional editing and support starting in late summer If you are interested in either or both of these opportunities, please fill out this form by Wednesday, September 20th at 5 pm MT with your name, preferred email, and general field of study (i.e. biology, physics, etc.).

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
An information session on the Boren Awards will be held on Thursday, September 28 from 4pm to 5pm in LSC 310.
The Boren Awards are initiatives of the National Security Education Program. The awards provide U.S. undergraduate and graduate students between $8,000 and $25,000 to study less commonly taught languages including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian in world regions critical to U.S. interests including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded A list of preferred languages and countries can be found here

Attention 3rd Year Undergrads! - Truman Scholarship
The Office for Scholarship and Fellowship Advising (OSFA) and the Truman Scholarship Selection Committee are pleased to announce the opening of the 2023-2024 Truman Scholarship Competition
The Truman Scholarship is a prestigious nationally competitive award given to third-year undergraduate students. Competitive candidates of this award will have: 1) demonstrated a commitment to a career in public service, 2) displayed leadership or engaged in consensus building on campus or within their home communities, and 3) maintained a high GPA
Awardees receive: 1) $30,000 for graduate school expenses 2) optional participation in the Truman Summer Institute, a Washington D.C. based internship program available only to Truman Scholars and 3) lifelong membership in an active and growing network of alumni More information about the Truman Scholarship can be found at the Truman Scholarship’s website: The Harry S. Honors Thesis Transcribers Needed

The Opportunities for Postsecondary Success (OPS) program, based out of the Department for Occupational Therapy at CSU is looking for CSU students who may be interested in a mentoring position Mentors gain leadership experience, training on disability, and knowledge of health and human services. Most importantly, mentors get the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a fellow CSU student by helping OPS students transition to CSU and learn how to succeed and thrive in and out of the classroom.
