Mason Angus and Sim Angus Annual Sale 2024

Page 1

Welcome!

Hey everyone, Kaitlyn here again! With the recent arctic temperatures that have continued to test our dedication, energy, machinery, and cattle I decided I should continue to write the welcoming story while I’m waiting to open the gates. Dad has his hands full trying to keep machinery going to feed livestock and trying to calve out heifers safely.

Just like it has been the last few decades our focus this year has been to bring you cattle that will work for your operation. Whether you’re looking for heifers that will bring a great disposition, udder quality, longevity, mothering ability, or a bull that will offer growth, power, pounds, and outstanding phenotype we have you covered. Our rotational grazing and resilient, effective cows made it possible to wean early September. The calves settled right into their new routine of eating from the bunk extremely quickly and have been developing well for you ever since. The decision over which animals to keep as our replacements was even more difficult this year BUT as mom reminds dad and I “we can’t keep them all”. We couldn’t be prouder of the bulls and heifers we’re offering this year and hope you’re just as eager to have them in your herd as we were sad to part with them.

The bulls have been on an ADG test again this year and to ensure they are still athletic and sound, ready to breed for their new owner, they have been given more territory to roam. The bulls have really embraced this new found freedom and are constantly up and moving, especially when a heifer in the pen next to them walks by! This set of bulls won’t disappoint you in the eager breeder category. They have been Genomic tested and by sale day we hope to have them semen tested, if the weather cooperates, and ultrasounded. The ultrasound data along with their yearling weight information will be available on sale day via a supplement sheet. The heifers have been developed with the same program and diet as our replacement heifers, with the emphasis on keeping them fit for breeding when the time comes. As you look through the catalog and view the pedigrees and study the EPDs, I think you’ll find what you are looking for to keep your herd moving forward; whether that’s calving ease, growth, structure, docility, power, maternal or longevity.

If you’d like to discuss cattle, come out to the place to take a gander at this year’s offerings in their natural surroundings and spend a little, or a lot of time, talking to dad before the sale on Saturday March 2, 2024 at Broken Bow Livestock. He can help guide you to what you are looking for for your cattle operation. We know everyone’s agricultural life can get pretty hectic at the beginning of March, so if you can’t make it to the sale that day head on over to DV Auction or get a hold of one of our press representatives the day of the sale to assist you.

Mom has been busy with her part of the sale day activities too. She’s been hard at work making jams and jellies and busy getting hats, gloves, gators, and earmuffs with our logo on it. She has a glorious lunch planned again across the street in Stockman’s with those incredible cupcakes and cookies for dessert and for the early arrivals there will be coffee and cinnamon rolls available.

I can hear the hay processor heading my way to feed the cows so it’s time for me to sign off so I can put my gloves back on and grab the gate.

We deeply appreciate your interest in our cattle and your support! If you have any questions regarding our sale offerings please don’t hesitate to call or text dad, e-mail us, or even check out our website. We can’t wait to see you on sale day! Sincerely,

Saturday
