FELLOW CATTLEMEN –
This is definitely an exciting time to be in the cattle business. Thank you for taking the time to evaluate our bulls. We have a diverse offering from multiple sire groups. There is a consistency of highly fertile, free-moving, sound, and growthy bulls. Whether you are looking for maternal bulls to retain heifers, big growth, calving ease, or carcass oriented bulls, this offering can fill any need.
Our family stays busy going to ball games and taking care of cattle. Colin now works the farm daily as long as he doesn’t have a game. He continues to grow in his cattle knowledge and has started his FFA SAE with his own herd. Byron had a knee injury set back this winter, but he is healed up and ready to start track and baseball. Bennett and Gabby tag along and provide lots of entertainment.
We are blessed to have Kyle Hinkle and Brent Farnen working for us. It is rare to find help that is dependable and trustworthy. Kyle feeds cattle seven days a week and knows our cattle like they are his own. Brent helps us part time and really fills in the gaps.
Thank you to my wife Robyn for the many hours of data entry and keeping the kids and I on track. Thank you to my parents for all that they do. From hot meals, to running errands, to filling in wherever there is a need, I can always depend on them.

A NOTE FROM COLIN –
Welcome to our 8th annual Spring Bull Sale. We are starting off strong with these 9 Bold Ruler sons that are excellent choices for herd improvement. The lot 1&2 bulls are out of an exciting donor that has produced some excellent progeny. The 3 Heisman Bulls are multi-purpose with a ton of power, highly maternal, as well as excellent carcass traits. Since day one the lot 13 bull has stood out with his easy fleshing ability, length, and depth of body. Then you come to the Jamesons who are high-performance bulls that still have plenty of calving ease. The Prolific sons are very muscular leading off with the lot 19 bull out of 0169. Next you come to the large set of Craftsman bulls who are highly maternal and have outstanding foot quality. The Thedford bulls are larger framed and have a ton of length of body. As you go along the Step Up bulls are thick, deep and soggy bulls. Then the Symmetry bulls come in with a ton of growth and power. The Curveballs are high performance with great carcass predictions. We end with the open heifers, which from a phenotype standpoint, are an excellent set of heifers.

GUARANTEE
First breeding season guarantee will convey with each purchase. A season is defined as the first 90 days the bull is first turned out. Replacements will be granted if available or credit will be given minus salvage value of $2,000 if a bull proves to not be a satisfactory breeder. Notify us as soon as possible and before salvaging your bull. This is not mortality insurance and does not guarantee against neglect. Your purchase is a major investment in your cowherd, mortality insurance will be available sale day.

Henke Farms assume no liability in case of an accident and cattle will sell under terms and conditions offered by the American Angus Association.
TRUCKING AND BOARDING
Bulls picked up sale day receive $50 off. Free boarding until April 1, 2025. A 5$/day fee will be charged after April 1st due to rising feed cost and more importantly the increased risk of incident to your bull. When spring rolls around a big pen of bulls ready to work is recipe for injury. Thank you for understanding.
INCIDENCE OF CALVING DIFFICULTY
While we understand the need for heifer bulls (our recommendation is 7 CED and around 2 or lower on BW) we also think that the Calving Ease Direct EPD may be misunderstood. This graph shows that from an 18 CED Sire compared to an 0 CED Sire there is only a 6% increase of assisted births in first calf heifers. The bottom line is CED EPD is for bulls going on heifers, selecting high CED bulls for cow’s could generate undesirably low birthweights and conversely make smaller pelvic areas in their progeny.
Angus is a Leading Breed for Calving Ease
Progeny of 20 highest accuracy sires born since 1995 for each unit of CE EPD
The incidence of calving difficulty in Angus cattle is very low. While these data reflect some corrective matings, a very high percentage of calves born to Angus heifers, sired by Angus bulls with breed average or greater CE EPDs, are born unassisted.
Fertility with docility has been a paramount pressure point in our selections since the first registered female set foot on our farm. The ability to apply top performance traits came easily after that. When adhering to stringent culling for foot quality and measuring every trait possible, we felt like we understand what Maternal means in our cow herd with the data to prove it. Through this selection, longevity comes about naturally and honestly.

EMBRYO TRANSPLANTS RATIOS (ET)
We continue to have more and more embryo transplant bulls in our sale each year. If the bull was raised by a registered recipient dam then that bull will receive his ratio for weaning. If the recipient dam was a commercial cow that bull will receive the average, or a 100 ratio. Remember each point above or below the average of 100 is how that animal compared in his contemporary group (the group he was raised in).
