Welcome to Carlson Cattle Company 2.0 Annual Production sale. Brock and I would like to invite you to Bassett Livestock Auction Inc on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024. Bulls will be selling at noon. If you can not join sale day, the bulls will be broadcasted live on CattleUSA.com and DVAuction.com. Both of these services will be through the Bassett Livestock link on those websites. The bulls will have passed breeding soundness exam and that sheet will be available at counter when bulls are paid for. Most of the bulls that will sell will be 15 & 16 months old and ready to go to work. I will have a supplement sheet available sale day with current weight and SC measurements. Please call or text if you have any questions leading up to the sale. The bulls will be available to view day prior to sell day May 15 at Bassett sale barn or can be viewed prior to that in Columbus at my house. Both the Black and Red Angus bulls have been growing at my place since weaning.

BEHIND THE
BULLS, as you look through and evaluate the pedigrees and numbers also keep in mind that all these bulls are out of either first or second calf cows. Brock and I have hand picked our current herd inventory and on the back page you will be able to look up the whole herd as of today and the cows that will be producing bulls and heifers we have to sell in future production sales. You will see that we have stacked pedigree’s for maternal power and time tested genetics in very young cows.
I would like to thank all our past customers for their support of our program. Its has been so joyful watching past customers have success in their production sales. I would like to thank Dr. Jess and Brooke Waddell from Rafter Red Angus on consigning their bulls with us. Dr. Jess and I share the same passion for breeding good cattle and I have really enjoyed our conversation leading up to this venture. I would also like to thank Brock for all his hard work and stepping up with all aspects of our business together. I have lots going on in the swine genetics business and Brock is always willing to get done what needs done!

FIRST BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE All bulls selling over $3,000 are guaranteed for the first breeding season against breeding injury. Breeding season is defined as the 60 days from the first turnout. If a replacement bull is not available, credit will be given in our next sale. Credit will be for the purchase price less the salvage value of the injured bull to be used for the purchase of a replacement bull. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made prior to September.
HERD HEALTH
The bulls at birth are given Vision 7 and TSV2. Going to pasture, they are given One Shot Ultra, Bovishield Gold 5 and Dectomax injectable. In August, at pre-weaning, they are again injected with Dectomax and boostered with One Shot Ultra, Bovishield Gold 5 and Ultrabac7 Sonubac.

WELCOME
It is our great pleasure to present the first set of bulls up for public auction from Rafter Red Angus. This herd was started in 1995 by Michael and Kathy Jackson and operated as Rafter JX out of Ravenna, NE. Rafter Red Angus has continued what the Jackson’s started since 2017, only offering bulls by private treaty. These bulls were carefully selected using the core values that have always been key to a successful cowherd; fleshing ability, fertility and longevity.
We recognize that pounds produced ultimately drives the bottom line. We certainly take that into consideration with our genetic program. The sires we utilize are geared to complement our females to maximize performance, all without abandoning our core values with practicality in mind for the cow long term.

THE LEGACY LIVES ON
Undoubtably one of the truly great cows in the breed with serious income generating progeny that has spanned 15 years. In today’s world of generation turn over, EPD fall out, and phenotype disappointments the breed still finds security in this cow’s ability to capture revenue through superior phenotype, powerful DNA results, and a multi-million dollar progeny sales stemming to “4301”.
Her most known daughter is the Sandpoint Blackbird 8809, in the past eight Vintage Angus sales 30 daughters have sold with an average value of $123,916. She is as equally famous for her ability to generate stud bulls with incredible semen sales revenue. With well over 10 bulls in stud service and even more producing semen for breeders, this cow has not let up. VAR Power Play 7018 sold to Rooney Angus for $730,000 half interest.
