Welcome to Carlson Cattle Company 2.0 Annual Production Sale 2025. Brock and I would like to invite you to Bassett Livestock Auction Inc on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Bulls and heifer’s will be selling at noon. If you cannot join sale day bulls and heifers will be broadcasted live on CattleUSA.com and DVAuction.com. I will have a representative from DV Auction to help at the sale this year and sale will be posted under Carlson Cattle Co on DV’s website. The bulls will have passed breeding soundness exam and that sheet will be available at the counter when bulls are paid for. Most of the bulls that will sell will be 15 & 16 months old and ready to go to work. I will have a supplement sheet available sale day with current weight and SC measurements, and for the heifers I will have confirmed AI preg. check or exposed dates. The bulls and heifers will be available to view day prior to sale day May 14th at Bassett Livestock Auction or can be viewed prior to that in Columbus at my house. Both the bulls and heifers are here at the house for your viewing.
THE COWS BEHIND THE BULLS AND HEIFERS, as you look through and evaluate the pedigrees and numbers also keep in mind that all these bulls and heifers are out either first or second or third calf cows. Brock and I have hand picked our current herd inventory for cow family’s that we know work for you. You will see that we have stacked pedigree’s for maternal power and time tested genetics in very young cows. This offering is everything that we calved in 2024, we held nothing back and are very excited to offer these genetics!
I would like to thank all our past customers for their support of our program. It has been so joyful watching past customers have success in their production sales. I have lots going on in the swine genetics business and Brock is always willing to get done what needs done!! In closing, please do not hesitate to call or text with any questions as we are here to help and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you, John and Brock Carlson

2428 offers a powerful maternal package backed by the renowned Donna cow family of Montana Ranch. Her maternal great granddam is the legendary Coleman Donna 505—an ultra-deep, powerfully constructed female known for her femininity, flawless udder, and being one of Resource’s most admired daughters. 2428 carries that same maternal look and functionality, ranking in the Top 15% for Calving Ease, Top 10% for Birth Weight, Top 15% for Milk, and Top 20% for both $M and $W. She’s a beautifully balanced female with strong calving ease and maternal traits, making her a valuable asset to any progressive program.

Undeniably one of the most iconic donor females in the Angus breed, Riverbend Blackbird 4301 has left a legacy unmatched in both influence and income generation. Her lineage continues to stand as a beacon of genetic excellence and revenue-producing reliability. In a fast-moving industry defined by shifting trends, EPD recalibrations, and fleeting phenotype fads, “4301” remains a trusted foundation of proven performance. Her legacy has been cemented through powerful phenotype, consistent DNA-backed results, and a progeny resume that has eclipsed multi-million dollar benchmarks. Simply put, the breed still finds security in her influence.
Her most celebrated daughter, Sandpoint Blackbird 8809, is a cornerstone of modern Angus genetics. Across the past eight Vintage Angus Ranch sales alone, 30 daughters of 8809 have commanded $3.7 million in total revenue, averaging an incredible $123,916 per head. That kind of consistency, over time, is nearly unmatched. But this cow line isn’t just about donor daughters—8809 has made big waves in the stud catalogs. She is the dam of breed-shaping bulls like: VAR Generation 2100, VAR Index 3282, Vintage Commander 4152, VAR Ranger 3008, VAR Foreman 3339, VAR Complete 1209, VAR Reserve 1111 and VAR Power Play 7018, who sold for $730,000 for half interest to Rooney Angus. These sons have fueled a genetic revolution, generating significant semen sales across the U.S. and internationally. With over 10 bulls in active stud service and even more in production across leading herds, the Blackbird 4301 line is not slowing down.
Her legacy isn’t just measured in dollars or EPDs—it’s seen in the consistency of her descendants, the demand for her genetics, and the continued trust breeders place in this foundation cow family.
Riverbend Blackbird 4301 – where elite Angus genetics began. The legacy lives on.
