Medfield Day 2015 promises to be fun for the whole family By Josh Perry

The booths are all sold out and preparations are in the final stages, as Discover Medfield Day 2015 is only days away. Join the Medfield community on North St. and Frairy St. on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for a day of celebration of all that Medfield has to offer. There will be 150 booths representing community organizations and local businesses, a section of kids’ rides in the Montrose School parking lot, food, entertainment, and much more for the whole family. There will be performances by local dance schools, local
musicians, and more on the lawn behind the First Parish Meetinghouse with a food court featuring local restaurants and organizations such as the Medfield Lions Club. Lining the streets will be booths featuring community organizations and business, including Hometown Weekly, so make sure and come by Booth No. 90 to say hello. In Kids Alley, there will be bouncy houses, a trackless train, obstacle course and slides to keep the kids entertained. This special section will give you all the details of this weekend’s events and for more information, visit www. medfieldmemo.org.

Knitting for a Cure returns to Medfield Day By Josh Perry

Help raise money for cancer research during Discover Medfield Day 2015 on Saturday, September 19. Donate money to the American Cancer Society and receive a hand-knit scarf. The table returns to Medfield Day after a successful 2014 that included more than 200 scraves handed out in return for donations. According to a press release, hundreds of dollars were raised for the American Cancer Society and Knitting for a Cure will be back again this year in booth 67 on North St. The booth is located at the top of the pond near the church and will be manned by volunteers, including a group of Medfield teenagers. Make sure to stop by and make your donation and get a choice of different scarves, lap robes, shawls - all hand knit. Donations can be made with cash or checks made payable to the American Cancer Society. For more information, contact Ann Thompson at 508-359-2519.

Rec Department hosting annual 5K at Medfield Day By Josh Perry

The Medfield Recreation Department is hosting its annual Medfield Day 5K Road Race and 1K Kids Fun Run on Saturday, September 19 beginning and ending at the Pfaff Center on North St. The 5K, which begins at 9 a.m., extends from the Pfaff Center to Harding St. and Hospital Rd. where runners will reach the midway point (just before the Medfield State Hospital) and will turn around to complete the race on the same course. There will be awards presented to the top male and female finishers and the top male and female finishers in the over-30 division. The 1K Kids Fun Run will start at 8:30 a.m. from the Pfaff Center and stay on a flat course to Green St., Lowell Mason Rd., and back on North St. T-shirts will be provided for both races by Reebok CrossFit Medfield, but are only guaranteed for runners that register before September 7. Parking for the races will be
limited to the lot between the Pfaff Center and Dale Street School. No parking will be allowed at the North St. lot. Registration is currently open for this annual kick-off to Discover Medfield Day. Entry to the Fun Run (for kids ages 3-15) is $5. The entry fee for the 5K is $25. For more information about the race or to register, visit www.medfieldrec.com.
