JULY JUBILATION

Come join THE fun BY VIA PERKINS

Hometown Weekly Correspondent Wellesley is gearing up for another fun, family-friendly summer. On July 18 (rain date July 25), Wellesley will celebrate

July Jubilation, an annual, allday event featuring a dance show, dunk tank, caricaturist, stilt walker, petting zoo and much more. The festivities will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and there will be free

parking in the town square for easy access to the 20-plus activities. For those who have never attended July Jubilation before, Demian Wendrow, President of

the Wellesley Square Merchants Association, says to expect a day “full of activities for the entire family, great sales and a wonderful experience that you will look forward to every year.” There are also a few new additions this summer. The Bubble Zone will feature massive bubbles reaching up to six feet long, and the Arts and Crafts Together Project will provide

Demian Wendrow President, Wellesley Square Merchants families a chance to be creative together. Many retailers in Wellesley have been participating for a number of years, and take joy in serving their community through the celebrations. For proponents of small businesses, Wendrow notes that

the event is “a way to support the local merchants,” all of which help shape the culture of the town. Meander downtown, play some games, connect with family and friends, and take advantage all that Wellesley has to offer this summer during this Saturday’s celebration.

Excitement building for July Jubilation BY VIA PERKINS

Hometown Weekly Correspondent One of the biggest Wellesley events of the year is here. With extended hours, over 60 participating businesses and more events than ever before, July Jubilation is sure to delight Wellesley residents of all ages. Wellesley Square was voted Best Town Center in the west suburbs for Best of Boston 2015, and to no surprise. The community was lauded for its newest delectable restaurants and premier

businesses, as well as the advent of Belclare, which are all poised to develop the amiable and tightly knit community. Of the large number of Wellesley shops which will be involved in the festivities, some have yet to participate in July Jubilation, and others have done so for decades. No matter their level of experience with the event, all businesses are busy preparing to delight and serve residents in all capacities, both by featuring activities outside their store fronts such as facepainting and juggling, as well as

There will be many ways to support the small, local businesses that are a longstanding part of the town of Wellesley, and enjoy a variety of amusements at the same time. “July Jubilation is a fun family event with tremendous bargains and activities throughout Wellesley Square,” explains Andy Brown, owner of Wellesley Toy Shop. The shop has its biggest sales of the year during the celebration, as well as featuring free giveaways. Brown is no

The Clever Hand Gallery has a similar heritage, having moved to Wellesley in 1993. Since then, the shop has always enjoyed July in the center of town. One of CoPresident Edie Allen’s favorite things to sell during the celebration is pottery. “We love selling pottery at our sidewalk sale, knowing that our customers will probably use it every day,” she says.

Similarly, Beauty and Main has been involved for a handful of past Julys. Cathy Varetimos has served as the store manager of the downtown Wellesley location for the past three years, and she says, “Our clients look forward to taking advantage of the great sales throughout the store… [They are] looking forward to joining us during the great festivities.”
