such a project in detailed form. Since then, they have been trying to gather the thoughts and opinions of Dover residents. Specifically, they are curious about the possible concerns of those whose property abuts the proposed trail.

According to the town, the “meetings have been scheduled to hear ideas and concerns from Dover residents about the possibility of converting the train rails in Dover to a recreational path.”

The trail, as it stands in the proposal, would run directly through town, starting in Needham and continuing to the Medfield town line.

Back in 2011, the Dover Selectmen appointed a special committee to examine the merits of

Last summer, the MBTA agreed to a decision letting towns lease abandoned railroad tracks, which was a key step in the proposed trail.

June 13, 2013- The many members of Dover-Sherborn High School’s Class of 2013 graduated this past Thursday in a memorable ceremony. Dressed in their caps and gowns, the more than 150 graduating seniors marched in at the beginning of the procession as the high school band played the customary “Pomp

and Circumstance”, smiling to the large crowd and undoubtedly happy at the prospect of beginning a new chapter in their lives. After Connor McCormick, Class of 2013 Vice President, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and the vocal ensemble sang the national anthem, the ceremony began. Speakers included Mary Keough, Class of 2013 President, Selectmen

Paul DeRensis and James P. Dawley Jr. Headmaster Denise Lonergan spoke as well, and Superintendent Valerie Spriggs, in her final year in the role, spoke to “accept the class”. Diplomas were handed out to the jubilant graduates, with 42 seniors being noted as National Honor Society Members and 25 joining the World Language Honor Society.

May 25, 2013- With a packed crowd at the House of Blues in Boston looking on, Dover resident Varun Solan stepped confidently into the ring this past Saturday to meet a challenge and help raise money for the Jimmy Fund. As part of the latest “Haymakers for Hope” fundraising event, the basic structure of the event (pairing brave fighters from regular walks of life against each other) once again

proved that it is a charity spectacle like no other. “It flew by to be honest with you,” said Solan after the first boxing match of his life. “I’m still trying to remember. There were so many things happening around you.” The complete article can be found here: http://hometownweekly.net/doverresident-fought-for-charity-p9540142.htm

The Raiders celebrate after winning back-to-back championships.

BY HAYDEN BIRD

June 20, 2013- Conventional wisdom has always been that a close game is won or lost in the fourth quarter. For the 2013 DoverSherborn boys’ lacrosse team, battling to repeat as D3 state champions, it was their effort in the first quarter that ultimately made the difference. Notching six early

goals allowed them to ride out a storm of Cohasset offense late in the second half, surviving to win another state title, 12-10. “For all of the seniors out here, we have ten guys, and 20 years from now we’re going to remember the championships we won,” said senior attackman Brandon Jaeger after the game. Jaeger, who scored

two goals in his final appearance for the team, was especially happy for his coach, Brian McLaughlin. “I think our coach deserved this, he deserved to repeat,” Jaeger said. It was the perfect way to go out for one of the most illustrious group of seniors in the program’s history. White House highlights Dover resident as an Open Science ‘Champion of Change’ June 27, 2013- On Thursday, June 20, the White House honored Dover resident John Quakenbush as one of 13 “Champions of Change” who are promoting and using open scientific data and publications to accelerate progress and improve our world. At the event, the Champions highlighted previous initiatives that helped make “open” the default in scientific research.

Open sharing of research results is a proven strategy for driving positive change. For example, the rapid and open sharing of genomic data from the Human Genome Project revolutionized biomedical research, and spurred major growth in the biotechnology industry. Additionally, the Federal Government’s liberation of Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite data for use by the private sector led to an explosion of geospatial information systems and the creation of many companies, smartphone apps, and car navigation systems. October 24, 2013- Ms. Kim McParland, assistant headmaster at Dover-Sherborn High School, has announced her plan to retire at the end of October. McParland played a pivotal role in her 11 years at DSHS in both evaluating faculty and staff and in MCAS administration. “Kim has been a real steward of the high school in the sense of providing superior service in the way of evaluating faculty and staff members and she really worked hard to earn the respect of everyone at the high school,” said Superintendent Steve Bliss. “She also served us very well in terms of MCAS administration, and that’s another major part of her job and she never missed a beat.
