The Second Reading: Ephesians Acts 10:34-43 Peter began to speak to the Gentiles: "I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ - he is Lord of all. That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. A Liturgy of Commissioning & Re-Commitment for All Liturgical Ministers Gerret Kavanaugh stands before Canon Stephen at the front of the church.

Celebrant: Dear friends in Christ, we are all baptized by the One Spirit into One Body, and have been given gifts for a variety of ministries for the common good.

Our purpose is to Commission Gerret Kavanagh to serve as a Communion Minister and Lector in our parish. He will assist the clergy in the reading of the Holy Scriptures and the distribution of the Holy Sacrament of Holy Communion, enabling the faithful to share in the life of Jesus and so serve to build up the Church, and to Support and pray for all members who serve as members of The Altar Guild, Flower Guild, Lay Assistants, Lectors, Sidespersons and Greeters, Communion Ministers, or Lay Anointers, as they make an Act of Re-commitment to their various ministries.

To Gerret

Celebrant: You have offered to commit yourself to minister in our parish community when we gather to celebrate our life in Christ. Will you prayerfully and reverently carry out the duties of this ministry to the honour and glory of God, in accordance with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the benefit of the members of this congregation?

May those who work with us also grow in commitment to you and the work to which we are all called. Bless us and our work, in Christ we pray. Amen.

For our Welcome Team Leader: Lord Jesus Christ, you washed the feet of your disciples and gave them the commandment to love one another; may we and all who serve on our welcome team desire to be like you as we obey your commandment: Help us to welcome all persons who come to share in our family and to encourage them to always seek your holy presence. Grant that we will always be of service as we go about our duty of restoring all people to unity with you and each other.

For our Servers Leader: O loving God, bless the servers of your church that they may so serve before your earthly altar in reverence and holiness, that they may attain, with all your servants and saints, the joy of serving you and worshipping before your heavenly altar. Lord, in your mercy.

For our Lay Anointers Leader: O Healer of the nations, who by your Apostle James commanded the 7

elders of your Church to anoint the sick: confirm with your heavenly benediction your servants who minister as lay anointers in your Church, that with sincere devotion of mind, body and spirit, they may offer faithful service to your glory and the welfare of your people. Lord, in your mercy.

For our Director of Music and Choirs Leader: O God, who inspired King David both to write and to appoint singers for your worship: Give grace to Rachel, our Director of Music, our senior and junior choirs, that with psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs, they may sing and make music to the glory of your name. Lord, in your mercy.

For our Altar and Flower Guilds Leader: O God, you accepted the service of the Levites in your temple, and your Son was pleased to accept the loving service of his friends. Bless the ministry of our the Altar and Flower Guilds of our church and give them grace that they, with floral arrangements and caring for the vessels and vestments of your worship and the adornment of your sanctuary, may make this place of your presence glorious. Lord, in your mercy.

For our Lectors Leader: Look with favour upon those who serve as Lay Assistants and Lectors in our church; grant that they may minister your Word with steadfast and sincere devotion, and by the constancy of their faith and uprightness of life reflect in all things that which they read with their lips. For our Communion Ministers Leader: Almighty God, grant that those who minister the cup of blessing may live in love and holiness according to your commandment, and at last come to the joy of your heavenly feast with all your saints in light. Lord, in your mercy.

Celebrant: Dear Friends in Christ, we are all baptized by the One Spirit into One Body, and have been given gifts for a variety of ministries for the common good.

Our purpose is to Commission Princewill Uzoukwu as a Sidesperson and Greeter in our parish. As one of the first persons that members and visitors meet when they come to worship, the role of the Sidesperson and Greeter is ensure that everyone is made to feel welcome and comfortable when they seek to encounter God in worship within the Body of Christ.

Servants of the Sanctuary are servants of God who, with reverence and dignity, assist the clergy who leads the gathered community in worship as we, with thanksgiving, remember the saving work of Jesus Christ.

The Apostle James says, “Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the Church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.� Dianne has been trained in accordance with the canons of this diocese, and licensed by our Area Bishop to be an Anointer in this parish.

Commission Cassandra Culpepper, Dianne Hare, and Alec Beckstead to serve as Communion Ministers and Lectors in our parish. They will assist the clergy in the reading of the Holy Scriptures and the distribution of the Holy Sacrament of Holy Communion, enabling the faithful to share in the life of Jesus and so serve to build up the Church.

Support and pray for our choir as they recommit themselves to the ministry of music, leading our community, weekly, in worship and presenting programs that enable us to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and song, and to Support and pray for all members who serve as members of The Altar Guild, Flower Guild, Lay Assistants, Choristers, Lectors, Intercessors, Servers, Sidespersons and Greeters, Communion Ministers, or Lay Anointers, as they make an Act of Re-commitment to their various ministries.

Lord God our Creator, we thank you for calling us into your service. We pledge ourselves to continue to serve you, our church and the wider community for the praise of your name. For our Altar and Flower Guilds Leader: O God, you accepted the service of the Levites in your temple, and your Son was pleased to accept the loving service of his friends.
