BISHOP PETER’S FINAL VISIT

OUR ACW is ASKING for your SUPPORT

The last event in our truncated 190th anniversary celebration will be the last episcopal visit by our Area Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Peter Fenty, to our parish. His first visit to us was on the first day after his election in June 2013.

Through our various fundraising events, we are supporting many local women’s and children’s charities. Since this year’s Festival of Christmas is cancelled, we are asking if you would kindly donate the dollar amount you might normally spend at the Festival (luncheon, bake sale, raffle, crafts, etc.).

Please  make your cheque payable to Holy Trinity Church,  write ‘ACW Festival of Christmas’ on the memo area  Put ‘attention Enid Corbett’ on the envelope  mail or bring the envelope to the Church Office Tax Receipts will be issued. Many thanks!

His priestly and episcopal ministry in the diocese, and in the Episcopal Area of York-Simcoe, in particular, reflect his clear understanding of the pastoral role of his Christian vocation.

Many clergy in our episcopal area have been magnanimous in their satisfaction with his forthright and businesslike approach to matters which demanded his attention, and with the sincerity exhibited in his pastoral ministry as their bishop.

In lieu of any gifts, Bishop Peter has suggested donations may be made to FaithWorks or the Black Anglicans of Canada.

We give thanks for his ministry and join the rest of our church in wishing him and his wife, Angela, every blessing in his retirement There will be ONE SERVICE on November 1 at 9.00 am.

PARISH NURSE

November 1

Yvonne Mortillaro has confirmed that she is able and prepared to start the Parish Nurse position on November 1, working two days per week in the first instance.

PRAYING THE HEADLINES (PTH)

November 8

Praying The Headlines, a time for conversation and prayer will meet via ZOOM on November 8 at 2:00 pm. The final session for the year will be on December 6th

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

ACW also has alternate ways to raise some funds for our outreach program:  2021 Church Calendars. We will be selling the calendars for $5.00 each. Calendars are expected to be available starting Sunday November 8.  Treasure Chest. We continue accepting broken/orphan pieces of gold and silver jewelry/items.

Sincere thank you to members who have sent in their jewelries.

If you are unable to go to the church or to mail your donation, we are willing to pick up your contribution for Treasure Chest & Festival.

Our parish joins a grateful nation that will never forget those who fought to safeguard our freedoms against the enemies of liberty and justice. On Sunday, November 11 we will remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice as we pray for our armed forces at home and abroad.

CHRISTMAS PAST Although we cannot hold our annual Festival of Christmas this year, the crew of Christmas Past Room is asking that you save the unwanted Christmas related items (décor, linen, lights, ornaments, etc. etc.) for 2021 Festival.

FOUNDERS’ SUNDAY

November 18

Holy Trinity School celebrates its 39th anniversary this year.

Established in 1981 by HTC members. This year, our celebration will be an in-person/virtual celebration as we gather at HTC and HTS simultaneously. Let us continue to pray for the students, faculty and staff of our school.

OUTREACH Richmond Hill Food Bank Summer/Fall 2020 Wednesday mornings collection took place from June 24 to September 30. THANK YOU! for your contributions of food and personal use items. Thanks also to members who contributed financially to assist RHFB staff in their purchase of most needed food and personal use items. 15 deliveries took place Thursday mornings between June 25 - October 1.

As of October 22, a total of 30 deliveries to RHFB, All Saints Community Kitchen/ Clothing Closet.

In January & February there were 2 deliveries of food & adult apparel to ASCK/CC. Due to the pandemic delivery is suspended until further notice.

WELCOME TEAM Thank You! to Welcome Team members who have assisted with, and contributed to, the 8:00 am and 10:00 am services September - November. Much appreciated!

ENDOWMENT FUND SPECIAL VESTRY

HOLY BAPTISM Holy Baptism will be administered to and infant and two teenage members of our parish on the following Saturdays at 11:00 am.

October 31 - Elijah Teshome November 14 - Nathan Silver November 21 - Lucy Staples All government and diocesan protocols relating to the COVOD-19 will be observed

STEWARDSHIP 2021 Notwithstanding the challenges of COVID-19, we have been able to exercise our ministry in new, exciting, and challenging ways. At the last meeting of the wardens, it was determined that, in spite of the reduction of our income, we are intent on meeting our commitment to disburse the $10,000 budgeted for the charities we support.

The wardens are grateful for the support which members have given during these difficult times and encourage the parish to continue in this way, as much as is possible.

The annual special vestry was convened on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The purpose of this special meeting is to receive the Financial Statements of the Endowment Fund and the Margaret Harding Fund, approve the proposed disbursements from the Endowment Fund and elect Trustees for the ensuing year.

In the next few weeks, more will be shared about how you can continue to support our work, and opportunity will be given for your to indicate how you will do so.

$572 were approved for disbursal from the Margaret Harding Fund to the Garden Committee.

The following members were elected to serve as trustees for the year 2020/21 Susan Preston, Treasurer (returning) Lindsay Allison (returning) Steven Law (returning) Gary Ainlay (new) Jennifer Kennedy (new) Marlee Tolhurst and Brian Pound retired after six years of service. We thank them for their ministry.

YOUTH HALF-HOUR Since September, Canon Stephen, Hazel Ogilvie, some youth of our parish and two young men from Boston have been meeting for 30 minutes every Sunday at 1:00 pm. An invitation is extended to adults to join us and assist with the spiritual development of our young people.
