Principal's Message
Holy Family Community,
I keep hearing a phrase from my peers and in the media: "Kids these days." I sense your eyes rolling because young people know what that phrase means. It means they are about to get a lecture on their inadequacies, and they are about to hear a litany of complaints. Each generation thinks they are the last, best hope of civilization and that society will decay when a new group takes the stage. Every society has some version of this.
If it is the case that every generation has had these same concerns, and yet the world keeps turning, then is the complaint baseless? It must be no more than a case of each generation looking at the next and yelling, "You kids, get off my lawn." On the other hand. How could something so universal not be grounded in some empirical reality? It cannot be the case that each generation turns irrationally grumpy and pessimistic when they hit 35. This inclination has existed for thousands of years across cultures and must be grounded in something rational. I offer up my amateur take.
We talk this way because we are concerned. We know the challenges that life has for you. We have all been through the turmoil of maturing, and we know the decisions are hard. The questions I faced as a young man were much bigger than the ones I face today, and I wasn't nearly as capable of wrestling with them. When we question your readiness, it is our way of letting you know that it will be hard and you need to be prepared.
We question you because our time steering society is winding down, and yours is rapidly approaching. We worry because we know how important it is that you get it right. Everything each generation has accomplished: the defeat of Marxism, the battle for civil rights and the desegregation of schools, the fight to gain ground against diseases like Polio, Aids, and Malaria. Every one of these victories has come at a terrible cost, and there were many moments when it seemed that good would not win out over evil.
When I talk with my peers about our culture, I hear a great deal of pessimism about the future, but I do not share it. I reject any notion of inevitable civilizational decline. I face the future with faith, optimism, and hope. And the reason I have this hope is because I have come to know young people like you. "Kids these days" who began their high school career with a bizarre and terrifying set of events that have no precedent. "Kids these days" who were asked at an early age to make decisions about their health and that of their loved ones. "Kids these days" who learned way too early the people who make decisions that affect everyone's lives often make those decisions with poor judgment or bad incentives. You have already been asked to make adult choices, and you have already been asked to make adult sacrifices. You have already shown yourself worthy of leadership and responsibility. I am confident in the future because I have come to know you.
I am confident in the future but confident with one caveat. You must hold steady to your path. We need leaders guided by faith who understand all persons' dignity and the value of each life. Leaders guided by sacred virtues and not the trends of the day. Leaders who know the measure of their actions will be judged by their place in eternity and not their position in next week's polls. You are on that path today, but the next four years will be a trial. We live in an age where Christ's message is not just refused but broadly mocked. Nowhere is this more true than on the University campus.
Our paths began together four years ago, and now those roads diverge. I hope you will return to visit us. I am grateful for all you have done at this great school. You have made your mark on this place and our hearts; we will always be thankful to the Class of 2023!

do with our lives. T - Time. Time is a funny thing. It flies in one instance, and in others, it moves in slow motion. Time flew in high school at football games, going to the dances, and hanging out with friends. But for some reason, it moves so slowly when Mr. Comeaux lectures on….and on. Enjoy the time you are given! It's finite.
new things. I went to my first crosscountry practice in the summer of 2019 because my mom made me go. The more I practiced, the more invested I became. Four years later, I have fallen deeply in love with it.
K - Kindness. Mr. Gabriel greeted me with a smile as I walked through the front doors as a quiet freshman. No matter where I went, I was always met with a smile, a wave, or a high-five by someone I knew in the hallways. These comforting words and actions gave me a sense of belonging and a feeling of home.
My time at Holy Family has prepared me for life in ways I am eternally grateful for. I created an acronym to reflect upon my time here: DON'T SLACK. I will take with me as I head to college.
D - Determination. At Holy Family, I was tested academically, athletically, and socially. All of us were challenged in some way during our time here. We were knocked down at points, but we were determined to overcome no matter what. O - Oneness. The idea of something out there greater than yourself is that our community is greater than the individual. Cross country taught me oneness. Getting through a 3-mile race takes more than self-motivation. You are running for your teammates as they depend on you. You truly become one. N – Knowledge. High school is a time of social and personal growth. We grew to know more about ourselves, what we love, and what we are good at. Holy Family allowed us to discover who we are and helped us to start thinking about what we want to
S - Service. Holy Family taught us to live in the footsteps of Christ as servant leaders for others. We learned to live for something greater than ourselves through many service projects.
L - Laughter. My time at Holy Family was filled with endless times of joy and happiness. The memories I have made will live with me for the rest of my life. Laughter brought out the best in everyone and created a sense of community in the Class of 2023. A - Ambition. Striving for success and excellence was placed in me from my first days at Holy Family. Teachers pushed us to have high standards. Ambition was a key reason I succeeded through my years of high school. C - Curiosity. High school is a time to explore and discover
Lou Holtz said, "I follow three rules: Do the right thing, do the best you can, and always show people you care. You've got to make a sincere attempt to have the right goals, to begin with, then go after them with appropriate effort, and remember that you can't achieve anything great without the help of others." Holy Family has given me the ideals to follow these three rules to help me through the next stages of my life - always remembering Don't Slack.

Graduation Speech
Excerpts
High school is an awkward time as we try to figure out who we are, develop our values, and decide what we want to do with the rest of our lives. We have all changed since we first stepped into Holy Family, and we can take some of the lessons we learned along the way through the rest of our lives.
Coming to high school was a huge step for each of us. Whether we came from a Catholic feeder school or a public school, we faced the unknown. For some of us, that was an exciting experience; for others, it was an overwhelming, anxiety-filled experience. Either way, we all made it to this point, which is something to be grateful for.
Each of us had different interests during our time here. You name it, whether they be athletics, music, theater, or art. As we continue in life, there will be endless opportunities to get involved in various organizations. I hope that each of us will continue to do what we love but also love what we do.
We were given opportunities to strengthen our faith during our time here. Many of us will go to a secular college that will not promote attending Mass and retreats. If we want to continue to grow in our faith, we must make an effort. I hope that Holy Family has built a strong foundation of faith for each of us and that we will not easily fall away from the faith or become susceptible to evil. God has a plan for each of us that includes a unique purpose in life that we should be open to and strive to attain.
We live in a world with a very diverse group of people, ideas, and beliefs, many of which we will encounter during our time in college. We should approach these people and ideas with an open mind. Even if we don’t necessarily agree with a person or an idea, we can still treat the person with kindness. It may not always be easy, but a simple act of kindness, even just a quick smile in passing, can significantly impact someone’s life.
We each have goals and aspirations that we will strive to achieve throughout the rest of our lives. We each aspire to make a difference in the world and make the world a better place. This is a wonderful goal and can guide our lives, but making a difference in the world doesn’t have to be on a large scale. Little acts of kindness and charity that we perform each day can change someone’s world, and each of these little things added up can change the world.
We are nearing that time in our lives again when we will step into a completely new space. We will have the opportunity to create many new friendships. Some of our current friendships will fade away, but we will never forget the memories we made in high school. Each of us will be guided by the foundation of faith we have formed here at Holy Family. I wish each of you the best in life, and I hope you will find joy in whatever you pursue.

What words of encouragement do you have for future students?
Enjoy every minute because time flies. You blink, and before you know it, high school is over. Also, get involved in something that you love. It will lead to finding friends who will always be there for you in times of need. Also, yes, Holy Family challenges you academically, but you have help everywhere. Keep up with your homework and talk to your teachers - they don’t bite!
What does the recognition as Ms. Holy Family mean to you?
Being selected to receive the Ms. Holy Family award means the world to me. Anyone who knows me wouldn’t be surprised to know that I LOVE this school. I hope I will be remembered for the happiness and light I spread to students, faculty, staff, and administration.
What is your first significant memory of your time at Holy Family?
My first significant memory was Sophomore Homecoming. It was the first time my friend group spent time together outside school. It was the first time we celebrated after the Covid-19 quarantine, during which we could not be together, build relationships, and get to know each other. My closest friends and I went to an Italian restaurant for dinner and then to my house afterward. My dad had set up a TV in the backyard that was live-streaming the homecoming DJ. We roasted marshmallows in the fire pit and ate s’mores while singing Don’t Stop Believing by Journey at the top of our lungs. That night began beautiful friendships I hope will last a lifetime.

Kyle Branson University of Colorado
What is your first significant memory of your time at Holy Family?
I can remember the first day of my sophomore year. I decided to transfer to Holy Family from my previous school about two weeks before the start of school. I remember the anticipation and nervousness of walking into the building on the first day. I wandered briefly and found my way to Mr. Good’s Catholic Morality class. I remember the rest of the day being rather anticlimactic. All the anticipation and worrying were for nothing. I fit right in. By lunch, I was sitting with a group of new friends. Many friends forget I wasn’t with them at Holy Family for four years. All of which is a testament to the community that Holy Family cultivates.
What does the recognition as Mr. Holy Family mean to you, and what do you hope your legacy is?
I was astounded to receive such an honor – it is great knowing that the school you care so much for also cares about you – but it also reminded me
that Holy Family had given me much more than I could ever give back. It was a humbling reminder to look back at my time at Holy Family with nothing but sheer gratitude for all it has given me. While at Holy Family, I found ways to serve and give back as much as possible out of gratitude. I want my legacy to be one of gratitude, never being blinded by what you want to the point that you forget you have been given.
How did Holy Family strengthen your faith?
My experience at Holy Family was transformative mainly because of its effect on my faith. Not to downplay the excellent education, memorable experiences, or lasting friends, because they have all been transformative too, but they are merely symptoms of the faith that Holy Family helped kindle within me. Holy Family cultivated a more profound, meaningful, and educated faith - one that I know will last a lifetime.

32nd Annual Holy Family Tiger Gala
The 32nd Annual Holy Family Tiger Gala was held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Omni Interlocken in Broomfield. It was a memorable evening that showcased the generosity of the Holy Family community as over $575,000 was raised.
We were honored to present the prestigious St. Joseph Award to the Sisters of Loretto as part of the evening. Five Sisters of Loretto opened a 9th grade classroom in the basement of a small grade school in September 1922. Thirty students enrolled, starting what has become Holy Family High School.
The funds raised at the Tiger Gala were used for a new HVAC unit in the school’s main gymnasium. If you’ve been in the main gym, you know of the temperature extremes, it is either uncomfortably hot or freezing cold. The new, energy-efficient unit will use temperature sensors to determine the
most energy efficient way to heat and cool the space, using outside air and in-building air. This will save us a significant amount in energy expenses.
The event was an incredible successboth in terms of dollars raised and just building camaraderie. We were also thrilled to welcome the cast of the spring musical Mary Poppins to the Gala. Their performance of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious brought the crowd to their feet.
Holy Family is genuinely grateful and blessed to have such a tremendous school community. Your generous support is valued, it is appreciated, and it is what makes Holy Family High School such a special place. Thank you to the Tiger Gala committee and our sponsors for making the Tiger Gala a reality every year. We could not do this event without your support.
