A Message from the pastor
Dear Holy Family Parishioners,
As I look back on our past fiscal year, I am filled with gratitude. I am grateful that our pews are filling up week after week for daily and weekend Masses. I am grateful that new ministries are forming. I am grateful by your continued response for our outreach collections, whether it be for the Lenten canned food drive, Christmas Baskets, or Loaves and Fishes. But most of all, I am grateful for you. Without you and your love, prayers, participation, and support, none of these achievements in the past 12 months would have been possible.
Last year, I asked for your support in the Diocesan Capital Campaign, A Legacy of Hope, Faith & Love, which largely went to fund the building of St. Michael Academy in Nolensville, the first home of Mother Teresa Parish. The response from our parish which exceeded our goal was not only humbling, but also it was a testament of what our Holy Family community does. You give of your time and treasure to sustain and grow our own parish while also supporting the growth of a Catholic community beyond our parish boundaries. God is never outdone in generosity. Even as Mother Teresa began celebrating their own Masses over a year ago, we continue to welcome at least 20 new families to our Holy Family community each month.
This is what our parish is all about. As you look through this annual report, which is only a small snapshot of what our community achieved last year, I ask that you think about how you can continue to share your gifts in the coming year. As your pastor, I strive to steward your gifts for the growth of God’s kingdom. I pray that the work we do together will continue to extend Christ’s compassion and peace to all.
Sincerely,
Fr. Joe Pastor

A Message from Parish Council

The Holy Family Parish Pastoral Council collaborates with the Pastor in consulting and advising on all major pastoral policy decisions affecting the Parish. As your representative, we have the responsibility to bring the concerns, thoughts, and ideas of the Parish to light and to provide a forum for their thoughtful and prayerful consideration by Fr. Joe at our monthly Council meetings. By this role of service, the Holy Family Catholic community is strengthened by the unity of effort achieved in reverence and charity.
During my tenure on the Council we survived COVID-19 in 2020 by going virtual; we relaunched and reengaged in 2021 by consulting with Fr. Joe on getting members back into the pews, as well as videotaping our ministries to give them voice, raise awareness, and increase participation and presence in Parish life. In 2022 we have attempted to keep our finger on the pulse of the Parish through not only personal feedback but also conducting Synod on Synodality listening sessions to capture your feedback on the communion, participation, and mission of Holy Family. Two outgrowths from the listening sessions were the additions of a Director of Parish Engagement and a Director of Adult Faith Formation. Recently we held ministry spotlights after all Masses during the early summer, and a new ministry, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, was brought to fruition by a Council member and his wife who participated in the ministry at a previous parish. Your input matters, your presence matters, and your participation matters.

Our work continues on finding ways to be more welcoming, engaging, evangelizing, and relevant to all our parishioners. I am grateful and honored to have the opportunity to serve with a group of gifted leaders and especially thankful to Fr. Joe and Fr. Mark for their vocations and constant guidance. They truly support our Parish in fulfilling our mission to be a loving, joy-filled Catholic community of faith, dedicated to the growth of God’s Kingdom and the living of the Gospel.

Guess who’s coming to dinner
Born out of a desire to get to know other parishioners and a love of hosting, Tony and Diane Dunning brought the idea to Fr. Joe to organize quarterly dinner parties. The Dunnings, who moved to Holy Family in 2020, participated in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner at their former parish. The idea is that eight to 10 parishioners have dinner together at a host’s home, with each parishioner or couple providing a potluck item. The Dunnings organize who goes to which parishioner’s home, so that the guests are only given the host’s address and the hosts only know how many are attending. “It was such a wonderful evening of fellowship and meeting new friends,” said a participant of the first dinner. The Dunnings have successfully organized three dinners in the past year and friended several new faces to say “hi” to when coming to Sunday Mass.

Sacristan Team Ministry
Similar to setting the table and doing the dishes after dinner, the Sacristan Team prepares for and cleans up after our Eucharistic meal at the 5:30 pm Sunday Mass. The ministry began last year when Sallie Jansen, a parishioner, volunteered to help fill the need at our teen-led Mass. The team consists of 5–6 people who rotate each week to set out the appropriate number of patens (what holds the Eucharist) and chalices (what holds the Precious Blood) for the Mass. Then, after Mass, the Sacristan will clean the patens and chalices according to Church standards to ensure that the Body and Blood of Christ are taken care of properly. Although the ministry takes a few minutes before and after Mass to complete, it is vital work that helps care for our Parish and our Lord!

A Message from
the finance committee
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
It’s a pleasure to report that Holy Family Parish is financially sound and, in addition, it’s a joy to report that due to your generosity, we continue to be able to support the faith community of our Parish and beyond.
With regard to being financially sound, the parish has no debt, has an adequate building repairs and maintenance fund, and has established a small sustainability fund to support long-term fiscal stability. We hope to add to the sustainability fund with your continued generosity. Our weekly and monthly collections, many the result of your recurring electronic donations, are sufficient to cover the costs associated with our many ministries. If you are not donating electronically, please consider setting that up.
You demonstrated your support for the growth of our faith community in impressive ways. You enabled the addition of resources related to faith formation and for young adult programs and funded improvements to the sound system, outside lighting, and more. Further, our gifts to the Diocesan A Legacy of Faith, Hope & Love Capital Campaign exceeded the parish goal! This supports the important work of the Diocese, including Catholic Education, Seminarian funding, and Catholic Charities. You have also provided critical support for the development of the Nolensville Catholic Community of Mother Teresa Parish and St. Michael Academy.
On behalf of our Pastor, Fr. Joe McMahon; Associate Pastor, Fr. Mark Simpson; Deacon Bill Hill; and our staff and volunteers, thanks for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure!
Regards, Fran.
