A Message from Father Joe Dear Holy Family Parishioners, I am so grateful for all of you – for who you are and for the generous gifts of your time, your talent, and your treasure. Your generosity is allowing our Parish to continue to enhance our ministries and truly become a second home for you and your family. As I mentioned in this year’s stewardship communications, we are focusing on increasing our ministries related to our young people, particularly Junior Youth, LifeTeen, and Young Adults. This year’s annual report reflects a large increase in participation in these programs. Father Anthony has brought in almost 120 young adults in the first year of his young adult ministry that offers weekly spiritual, social, and service-related activities. Our married couples small group numbers have exploded this year as have our offerings in Adult Faith Formation. We began our Prayer Garden and Columbarium construction this year, and it will be completed and dedicated during the first half of 2020. This project is financially self-sustaining through the sale of the niches and will be a beautiful addition to our facility. Thank you for taking time to read this Annual Report which illustrates just how vibrant and growing we are as a parish community. Let us be thankful for all the blessings of the past and trust in the Lord’s faithfulness as we move into the future. Sincerely, Father Joe

A Message from the finance committee chair Dear Fellow Holy Family Parishioners, I am pleased to report that our parish is on sound financial footing. If you attended Mass celebrated by Bishop Spalding before our Mardi Gras party on March 2, you witnessed a milestone in our parish as we ceremoniously burned our mortgage. For the first time in the history of Holy Family, we are DEBT FREE! This was made possible by your generosity as well as the exceptional contributions of two families.

that are beginning to fail, and replacement parts are becoming increasingly hard to find. We were able to increase our investment in ministries, primarily in our youth and young adult initiatives, with the funds that had previously been committed to monthly debt service. We added two part time positions on our pastoral team – one in our Religious Ed office and one in our facilities and environment department. We made a substantial investment of time and resources in completely revamping our First Communion and Confirmation preparation curriculum. You may have noticed the addition of some very welcoming seating areas throughout the building to accommodate small group meetings and comfortable places to have one on one conversations. As a parish, our giving to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal for Ministries hit an all time high in 2019, and 2020 looks to break another record. In addition to your support of this annual appeal, Holy Family financially supports the Diocese through a support assessment, subsidies to our Diocesan Catholic Schools, and an assessment to support Priests’ retirement.

While we have been blessed with some extraordinary gifts restricted to debt retirement, we experienced a slight decrease in our unrestricted weekly giving for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 as compared to the same period for 2018. Thanks for all you do to enhance our vibrant, Consistent with Fr. Joe’s recent request, I humbly ask faith filled parish by sharing your time, talent, and that if you aren’t contributing at all, please begin. If treasure. you are already giving, please consider increasing your unrestricted contributions. And if you don’t give Best regards, electronically, please begin to do so. We continue Franis J. “Fran” Bedard to strive to offer additional ministry opportunities, including helping those underserved members in our broader community. As our facility continues to age, we anticipate the need to replace some large HVAC units, replace a very antiquated phone system, and we are experiencing multiple exterior doors

A Message from the Parish Council Chair The Holy Family Parish Pastoral Council collaborates with the Pastor in consulting and advising on all major pastoral policy decisions affecting the Parish. The Council also has the added responsibility of helping to maintain the spiritual growth of the Parish by assisting Father Joe, the various parish ministries, and programs in achieving their visions. The Council consists of a group of very energetic, faith filled, and loving parishioners who are passionate about their responsibility to bring the thoughts and concerns of all our parishioners to Council meetings for thoughtful and prayerful consideration by Father Joe. It has been one of the greatest joys and honors for me to serve alongside them for the last three years. I am also thankful that we have two loving priests in Father Joe and Father Anthony who are willing to openly listen and try anything once! During my tenure on the Council we have undertaken work and decisions on the Young Adult program, which resulted in two added seats to the Council for Young Adults; a “funraising” event called Carols & Cocktails; and most recently, the addition of the Columbarium to our church grounds. We have attempted to keep our finger on the pulse of the parish through not only personal feedback, but parish surveys as well. These modes of feedback have continued to guide some of the spiritual goals of the parish and the Council. In 2019, the Council’s goals focused on developing more ways to engage our ever-growing community through personal contact initiatives and continuing to find those opportunities to create social events for us all to be able to interact as a faith community. The Council is working, along with the church staff, to develop a spiritual gifts’ inventory that will help parishioners discern which of our many ministries is a fit for them

and, coming soon, we hope to launch an initiative called “Try One” that is an open invitation for each of us to try something new at Holy Family. The coming year holds a wealth of close God moments for us as a parish, and I am blessed to be just a small part of this holy family! We have a rich and vibrant community that is truly fulfilling our mission to be a loving, joy-filled Catholic community of faith, dedicated to the growth of God’s Kingdom and the living of the Gospel. Blessings, Lisa Zeisloft
