The Phenomenon in the Conduct of Online Physical Education
by Jumel C. Miller, PhD Central Luzon State University
The way education is given around the world has undergone a substantial change in recent years. Technology's rise and the development of the internet have made it possible for many academic fields, including physical education, to provide online courses. The 2020 pandemic expedited this shift, forcing schools and organizations worldwide to quickly adjust to remote learning. This essay examines the phenomena of teaching physical education online, including its benefits and drawbacks as well as how it affects students' general health and wellbeing.
Transition to Online Physical Education
For both teachers and students, the switch to online physical education presented a unique difficulty Physical education lessons have historically been held in a regimented setting at a school Team sports, fitness drills, and physical activities meant to foster holistic development including physical fitness, motor skills, and teamwork were stressed in these programs
Physical education teachers had to be creative to present a full curriculum considering the shift to virtual platforms To include students remotely, they used online tools and video conferencing capabilities Teachers must adapt their teaching strategies in light of this change, come up with inventive ways to show exercises electronically and inspire students to lead active lives even when they are at home
Challenges of Online Physical Education
There were several difficulties that educators had to overcome as physical education moved online:
Limited Space and Equipment: Many students experienced space and equipment issues, which made it challenging to efficiently complete specific workouts or sports activities Their physical development was hampered by a lack of access to sports facilities, fields, or specialized equipment Motivation and Engagement: It was difficult to keep students interested and motivated Some students found it difficult to remain motivated to actively participate in online classes when their classmates and teachers were not physically there
Health and Safety Concerns: Protecting students' health and safety while participating in physical activities in outlying areas has taken on increased importance. Without direct supervision, teachers must rely on pupils to uphold safety procedures. Sedentary Behavior and Screen Time: The transition to online learning increased students' screen time, raising questions about sedentary behavior and its effects on physical and mental health.
Advantages of Online Physical Education
While there were drawbacks to online physical education, there were also some benefits:
Flexibility and Accessibility: Thanks to online platforms, students can now attend physical education sessions from any location, shattering restrictions based on distance and travel time.
Individualized Learning: Thanks to the ability to customize exercises and activities depending on each student's skills and objectives, online platforms allowed teachers to provide students' needs with more of a personal touch.
VOLUME 1, ISSUE 3 JULY 2023 Article TEACHER'S GUIDE 1
Diverse tools: Online physical education has made it possible to access a wide range of tools that have improved learning, including instructional videos, fitness apps, and interactive websites
Online physical education proved to be a more inclusive environment for students with physical disabilities or medical conditions since exercises and activities may be modified to meet their specific needs
Impact on Students' Health and Well-being
There was discussion about the effect of online physical education on students' health and wellbeing. On the one hand, virtual classes' flexibility enabled students to incorporate physical activity into their daily schedules, encouraging a healthy way of life. The ability for students to pick activities they enjoy could result in a continued interest in fitness outside of the classroom.
On the other hand, the absence of interpersonal communication and physical activity restricted the opportunity for teamwork and socialization, which may have
an impact on students' emotional and social development Additionally, worries about eye health and Vitamin D inadequacy were raised by increasing screen usage and decreased outside exposure
Conclusion
The rise of online physical education has significantly altered how physical fitness is communicated and practiced Although there are still issues, the benefits of adaptability, accessibility, and inclusivity have had a favorable influence on several parts of students' physical education experiences. The development of social skills and emotional maturity continue to be greatly aided by in-person contacts and team sports; therefore, it is crucial to establish a balance between online and conventional physical education. Moving forward, a strategic blending of both approaches can help develop a complete physical education experience that caters to the different needs of children in an ever-evolving educational setting.

The Struggle for Sports Development in the Philippines
people go unappreciated and undeveloped, wasting the country's potential to succeed in the world sporting scene
Systemic Problems
by Jumel C. Miller, PhD Central Luzon State University
Introduction
Sports have long played a significant role in Philippine culture, uniting locals, and encouraging a sense of pride and identity. Despite having a strong interest in sports, the Philippines has experienced many obstacles in the growth of its sporting scene. This essay explores the challenges that have stymied the growth of Philippine sports, including the lack of infrastructure, structural problems, and the requirement for grassroots initiatives.
Limited Resources
The problem of insufficient funding is one of the biggest obstacles to the growth of sports in the Philippines. Although there is excitement for sports at the grassroots level, government funding for sports has frequently fallen short of aspiring athletes' needs and athletic organizations' objectives. The nation's potential to create athletes of the highest caliber is being hampered by inadequate financial support, which has resulted in the neglect of sports facilities, equipment, and training programs.
Without sufficient money, talented athletes frequently struggle to get hold of qualified coaching, specialized training facilities, and the chance to compete in regional, national, and worldwide events. As a result, many gifted
The development of sports in the Philippines is also hampered by structural problems like ineffective bureaucracy, a lack of a defined vision, and a lack of long-term planning Disjointed efforts and uneven strategies to develop sports at the grassroots and elite levels have been caused by frequent changes in leadership and policy within sporting organizations.
Progress has also been hampered by money mismanagement and corruption among sports organizations. Misallocation of resources has fueled a vicious cycle of insufficient money and shoddy facilities, impeding the development of sports and inspiring dissatisfaction among participants and athletes.
The Need for Community-Based Programs
There is an urgent need for strong grassroots programs that concentrate on recognizing and fostering young talents from a young age to solve the issue of sports development. A strong talent pool can be created by promoting sports participation in schools and communities, as well as by providing the right facilities, coaching, and training.
VOLUME 1, ISSUE 3 JULY 2023 Article TEACHER'S GUIDE 4
Grassroots initiatives may be extremely important in promoting sports to help young people's physical and mental health while also establishing qualities like discipline, collaboration, and resilience. The Philippines can establish a sports culture that promotes the overall development of people and goes beyond competitiveness by getting kids involved in sports at a young age.
Conclusion
The government, the commercial sector, and society must all work together to address the complicated problem of sports development in the Philippines. Fostering a healthy sports ecosystem in the nation
Essay: Beyond New Normal
requires taking important steps such as providing adequate money, creating appropriate sports infrastructure, and tackling systemic concerns.
Additionally, putting an emphasis on grassroots initiatives that concentrate on talent spotting and development will lay the groundwork for a promising sporting future. A new generation of athletes and sports enthusiasts who can proudly represent the Philippines in the international arena can be inspired by the Philippines' investment in sports, which will help it to maximize the potential of its population. Sports are a worthy undertaking that extends beyond winning prizes and accolades. They also promote pride in one ' s country and unity.
Greener than Blue or Bluer than Green?
by Jihan S Comeros Cebu Technological University-Carmen Campus
The COVID pandemic has stopped the fast-paced world for a while and even for an indefinite time during its peak
Instead of using our own vehicles, we were made to stride using our feet walking a kilometer or more to buy basic commodities That may be physically exhausting for all of us yet we had the best chance of our lives to breathe cleaner air and feel the surroundings free from extreme noise Our mother earth seemed to beam from ear to ear for that health break given to her
It is a glaring reality that pollution from vehicle smoke was minimized on the verge of community quarantine. It also cleaned the air in another way by eliminating the noise of the usual everyday life especially those in urban areas. Though at the back of the minds of millions around the world, there were pinches or perhaps chunks or blocks of worries. Many that time of the biggest global health crisis recorded in the 21st century could be feeling blue due to the quarantine restrictions. Though the pandemic has brought about pain, horrors, anxiety, and even mental health
issues it also has provided better opportunities for each of us to take care of the environment and acquire the skill of eco-literacy. Moreover, it did not only help mother earth to enjoy its health break; it has also brought families together in their own homes.
Now, that it’s 2023 three years after the peak of the pandemic way back in 2020, the biggest question that we could ask ourselves is, could we still provide our mother Earth with that health break and maintain its hopeful color of green or perhaps while we are starting to toil again in our fast-paced toil for greener pasture we are making our environment feel blue?

Mentoring Future P.E. Teachers
by Dr. Jennifer T. De Jesus, PhD Central Luzon State University
Being a professor for aspiring Physical Education (PE) teachers carries with it the weighty obligation of molding the minds that will, in turn, mold the health and fitness of our nation's kids. It's a trip full of exciting new experiences and boundless happiness.
One of the hardest parts of this job is changing the minds of children who may not see physical education as as important as other disciplines It's not easy to get students to get past these prejudices and consider the implications they may have on the lives of their future students. In addition, it is essential for a physical education teacher to be informed of the most recent studies on health, fitness, and teaching strategies While rewarding, keeping up with the ever-evolving fields of sports science and education can be quite a challenge for anyone
However, these difficulties can be conquered through the use of best practices. One such method is the encouragement of a hands-on approach to education. Physical education instructors should be well-versed in theory and practice Therefore, giving students the chance to organize, lead, and reflect on actual physical education sessions can greatly improve their education. Teaching students the significance of an open-minded curriculum is also crucial. It is vital to stress the necessity of cultivating a setting where all students, regardless of their fitness levels or physical ability, feel welcome to participate Future physical education teachers can make a huge difference in the lives of their students if they are encouraged to modify lessons for students of varying skill levels. Inspiring students to make fitness a part of their daily lives is also crucial. Their infectious passion for health and fitness as future PE teachers has the potential to have a profound impact on their students, both in terms of their immediate engagement with and long-term commitment to physical exercise
Despite the difficulties, teaching the next generation of physical education teachers is incredibly rewarding. Seeing students realize the difference they can make in the lives of their future students is one of the most satisfying aspects of teaching. When they see the positive effects they are having on their students beyond the realm of sports, they feel a sense of satisfaction. The satisfaction of seeing a former student succeed as a physical education teacher and in turn inspire the next generation is unparalleled. It brings me an indescribable amount of satisfaction to think that I had some small part in their journey, in the great influence they have on their students.
As a teacher for 25 years, guiding future physical education teachers presents its own set of unique challenges and rewards. It's an exciting adventure full of opportunities to grow professionally, share what you ' ve learned with others, and encourage the future generation of teachers.

Rise and Challenges of Local History: Social Studies Teachers’ Perspective
Dr Gina A Macalos-Galbo Bohol Island State University-Candijay Campus
As a resident of our place, knowing the origins of its name, its borders and its physical features including its people is very important to have a greater comprehension of Filipinos and the entire Philippines especially when teaching social studies in elementary grades. The basic knowledge can be useful in preparation of the teaching career with emphasis on local culture and geography. Local historical artifacts, memorabilia, museums are not locally restored in some places, but its importance of the study of these local identities is now realized by educators just like me who happens to teach social sciences courses.
However, as we search for our ancestors, there are many advantages and benefits in studying the local history of a particular area like, all history is local; local histories provide context for understanding forebears and local histories help share who we are. Personally, I used to keep most of the old pictures of my ancestors for my future use and of course for sentimental values. With regard to this, it is already included in the K-12 DepEd Curriculum guide that grade pupils will be taught the ideas related to cultural identity (Andres, et al, 2020), as they learn about and appreciate the origin and development of their community by emphasizing its local history, economy, and culture, thereby enhancing their sense of pride and cultural identity.
According to Funtecha (2008), the critical importance of local history in the understanding and the writing of a truly national history cannot just be ignored. Realizing how limited and unrepresentative Philippine history, is the driving force behind the desire to create local history. Some of the realizations include that the history of Central Luzon, and particularly the Tagalogs, is
essentially what is known as the history of the Filipino people generally. In addition, it was already observed by many especially in the education sectors that in the Visayas and Mindanao, significant events and developments including people are at best acknowledged in passing and, at worst, completely ignored As a result, the history of the Philippines is inaccurate since the diverse historical and cultural experiences of the numerous ethnic groups in the country's dispersed geographical regions are not fully taken into consideration even their old oral histories.
With the implementation of the curriculum guide of DepEd, the limitation of primary and secondary sources of information relative to local histories was indeed considered as a challenge for social science teachers. The issue stems from the rigid limitations of Western criteria or standards, which were for a while related to the structure of Philippine history, which requires that historical writing be based on written sources. Teachers, more often than not, limit their resources on what is found in the libraries and other information centers We really give the importance on what was only recorded in history books and other secondary sources but forget to recognize the important historical values in our country such as the histories in the regions and local communities. In essence, the key point is that a person ' s interest in studying and comprehending Philippine history primarily relies on their appreciation of their hometown's history which we almost forgot to recognize. It is now time for us to work on this to enrich our recorded local histories.
But, how can these be realized? Teachers including myself may consider of visiting the local places and start to love and collect some of the historical values of the places and the important contribution of its people to help augment the historical collection of the locality. Let’s start to uphold the majority’s expectation that local history holds a special place in people's hearts and minds as it reflects their memorable past, distinct identity and even beloved aspirations So, are you ready to face these challenges?

Dance: A Heritage
by Jennifer T De Jesus, PhD Central Luzon State University
As a fold dance performer and also a dance heritage researcher, I frequently feel like I am a quiet guardian of our cultural legacy. It's a trip with a steady beat, full of ups and downs, surprises and revelations, and a final celebration of the infinite ways in which people can express themselves
As a dancer of folklore, I frequently waltz into the problem of sketchy historical records. Because so much of our dance history has been passed down orally, it is difficult to conduct a thorough study of it. It can feel like a thrilling treasure hunt trying to piece together the remaining pieces and return the dance's origins to reliable sources or experienced community members. As folk dances spread around the world and become more varied, their intricacy grows. It requires not just a trip across great distances, but also a trip across language barriers and cultural norms. It's just as difficult to perform a precisely choreographed ballet as it is to capture the nuanced intricacies of each dance genre and the social fabric it's woven into
Nonetheless, I am able to find personal satisfaction and fulfillment in my studies despite its many difficulties. The most moving is the prospect of exploring the vastness of human culture. As challenging as it may be, the reward of understanding the meaning behind a dance's symbolic movements much outweighs the effort required to do so Sometimes I feel like dancing in the streets because I finally understand the hidden meaning behind a culture's dance steps, fashion choices, or rhythmic patterns after hours of study. These "eureka" moments, like a well executed pirouette, are the high points of my research and represent the successful protection of our priceless intangible legacy
Another source of satisfaction is the intimate community interaction required by my study. Learning the local dances and partaking in the local festivals gives my research a more personal touch. The joy of being accepted by these groups and the friendships formed through shared rhythms cannot be duplicated
by any theatrical production. In addition to doing studies, it is my responsibility to actively promote and preserve these dancing styles. A new dimension has been added to my work by the enthusiasm I have when discussing my discoveries, when leading seminars, and when organizing performances to spark a widespread awareness for these dances. The satisfaction of seeing an audience move to the traditional beats and feel a connection to our common history is unparalleled.
The most rewarding part of my folk dancing practice, though, is knowing that I am helping to preserve humanity's collective cultural history. The blood of our culture flows through the veins of our traditional dances. The knowledge that my efforts help keep these stories alive in the collective consciousness has given me a feeling of meaning that has helped me persevere through any difficulties that have arisen.
My life's work as a scholar of folk dance is, in essence, a complicated choreography of setbacks and triumphs. It takes the quickness of a quickstep dancer, the stamina of an endurance dancer, and a fierce devotion to tradition. The rewards, however, make this tumultuous waltz worth it, as it ensures the survival of culture, fosters mutual understanding, and provides opportunities for personal connection and development.

Challenges and Triumphs of a Leader
by Jennifer T. De Jesus, PhD Central Luzon State University
The pleasures and challenges of serving as both Sports Director and Cultural Director are diverse and complex It's a delicate tango between fostering teamwork, personal development, and overall excellence in athletics and in the cultural milieu.
A sports director's responsibilities include leading teams, developing strategy, and fostering a culture that values sportsmanship
Maintaining each athlete's physical health, emotional stability, and skill development is a balancing act. There is always pressure to perform well, but it's much more difficult to avoid letting that focus on success jeopardize the athletes' enjoyment of and dedication to their craft.
Conversely, a Cultural Director needs to be sensitive to and accepting of cultural differences in order to do their job effectively It entails organizing gatherings that are welcoming to people of all backgrounds in an effort to increase mutual appreciation and respect. The difficulty lies in ensuring that no culture is silenced by providing a level playing field for all of them
Juggling the responsibilities of both roles is the most obstacle Understanding the importance of both sports' competitive spirit and the cultivation of cultural diversity is crucial for striking this balance. The objective is to establish conditions where cultural activities and sporting events can not only coexist but flourish together However, despite the difficulties, the payoff is extremely satisfying The most rewarding aspect of this position is being a witness to the alchemy that occurs when athletics and culture collide. Athletes from all walks of life can learn about one another's cultures through sporting events that function as cultural exchange venues. Cultural celebrations can also incorporate sporting components as a way to foster cohesion and teamwork
One of the greatest rewards of being a Sports Director is witnessing the success of a team or individual under your tutelage. It's not just about the victory, but also about the learning and fortitude that come with the struggle. The
ups and downs of an athlete's career help them mature as players and people Meanwhile, the art of being a Cultural Director is in the vivid mosaic it enables you to create
The goal is to encourage communication between people of various backgrounds and to foster an atmosphere in which cultural distinctions are embraced rather than avoided There is no greater gratification than seeing people recognize and respect the rich tapestry of other cultures and discovering the delight of unity in difference Respect, discipline, tolerance, and collaboration are all important traits that may be taught to athletes and cultural participants through strong leadership They become better, more empathetic people, and their experiences in sports and the arts improve as a result
As a final note, the position of Sports and Cultural Director is both demanding and satisfying It calls for the same level of dedication and expertise in navigating the competitive world of athletics as it does the variegated sphere of culture. The true value of this position, however, comes in the chance it provides to shape young people into resilient and empathic adults who value cultural variety and the sportsmanlike attitude. It's a one-of-akind stage where the fervor of sports and the vitality of culture meet, resulting in a harmonious composition of development, solidarity, and respect.

Track and Field Coaching for Beginners
by Enrico P Manalad, PhD Central Luzon State University
As a track and field coach, I love introducing new athletes to this exciting sport The role is challenging, as it involves promoting qualities like strength, speed, endurance, and passion for the sport. Coaching beginners can be challenging, but it is also rewarding. It provides an opportunity to teach important values such as discipline and determination, which are not limited to athletic performance.
I begin my coaching strategy by introducing the team to the basic elements of the sport. This includes different events, techniques, and equipment used. I have a comprehensive training program that focuses on improving physical fitness through cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and flexibility. Encouraging beginners to try out various sports events helps them discover their natural talents and develop a strong bond with the sport.
The next step is to improve their skills. By
Pandemic Learning
by Jihan S. Comeros Cebu Technological University-Carmen Campus
The pandemic tertiary students are now about to begin the last year of their education and will soon proceed to toil in their future careers There are certain apprehensions that keep boggling them as they start this academic year
Here are some of the graduating students' sentiments gathered randomly to depict their sentiments:
“Regarding the phenomena have instilled in me two emotions first is excitement and the other is worry or perhaps fear since I have earned much of my tertiary years online yet when I will have my practice teaching and eventually graduate I will be teaching in a full face-to-face context, shared a BSED Mathematics student. “
At the start of the shift to online modality during the pandemic, I was excited to learn in a flexible
breaking down complex movements into simpler parts, athletes can gradually learn and improve each component before putting them together into a smooth action During this phase, it is important to have regular practice, receive timely feedback, and face incremental challenges Physical conditioning is very important, so our training sessions include exercises that focus on building strength and improving overall fitness. These exercises are customized to meet the specific requirements of each event I help athletes set realistic goals and understand that progress in sports takes time and dedication
In track and field, the mental aspect is crucial, alongside physical training. I aim to teach my trainees about mental strength by educating them on setting goals, staying focused, being resilient, and displaying good sportsmanship They are trained to handle pressure in games, bounce back from setbacks, and have a positive approach to competition This approach helps them prepare for both the track's obstacles and the wider challenges of life. As a coach, my main goal is to help and motivate beginners to become skilled athletes, while also encouraging a lifelong passion for track and field
“digital style but now that I only have a year more to learn through face to face I get worried that I have not learned enough and I am also doubtful of myself that I can be a good Mathematics teacher due to the many circumstances that affect my family ”
“I am worried that I have learned the essential courses in developing my skill for teaching elementary learners would not be enough for me to become an effective teacher someday. We need reassurance that we can teach effectively during our practice teaching and eventually graduate equipped with the needed skills to be the best teacher that we can be, shared a BEED student ”
“I will try my very best to practice what I have learned online so that I will be ready to have my On-the-Job training and definitely graduate in 2024 and land a good job, said an HM student.”
The pandemic has indeed altered the learning modality yet one thing is for sure students have learned to be resourceful to be flexible in learning through various ways and contexts

Coaching Beyond the Field
by Enrico P. Manalad, PhD Central Luzon State University
The respected title of "coach" has been mine for the past 18 years. I recognized that my job was more than just developing athletes; it was also about preparing them to take on the problems of real life. The first and most important thing I hope to teach my athletes is something I've learned the hard way: never giving up. Losses and setbacks are part of the game in athletics, just as they are in life. Every setback, however, is a chance to learn and improve. Facing setbacks with a brave heart brings about great transformations, which I have seen and experienced myself. I think this kind of toughness is essential for achieving success in any endeavor.
The importance of teamwork is another important lesson I impart to my athletes. Winning is almost never accomplished solely, not even in individual sports. In my experience as a coach, those athletes who learnt to work together and communicate clearly have fared the best. The ability to work together effectively is a valuable trait in any field, not just sports. The value of humility is important to my coaching philosophy as well. Over the years, I've witnessed how the lack of humility can turn otherwise beautiful victories bitter. In my opinion, true winners are those who accept victory with humility, credit their opponents for their efforts, and give credit where credit is due to their teammates and coaches. Being gracious regardless of the outcome strengthens their character
My coaching philosophy has always revolved around the importance of playing by the rules On and off the field, I have always emphasized the value of being truthful and trustworthy In my 18 years, I've realized that success without justice is meaningless I think they become better people as well as better athletes because
of this value of fair play I have learned from experience and have shared with others the value of discipline and hard effort Early morning workouts, restrictive diets, and countless other self-denials over the years have taught me that hard work pays off. Knowing that this dedication to hard work will benefit them not just in athletics but in life, I work hard to instill it in my players
My 18 years of coaching have shown me that athletics can be a powerful medium for imparting valuable lessons My athletes' development is a top priority, so I use every practice as an opportunity to teach them life lessons. As a coach, your ultimate goal should not be to win a game, but to mold these young people into champions for life, people whose values they instill on the field and who go on to achieve success in all aspects of life, not just sports

Evergreen
by Junas D. Flores Cebu Technological University-Main Campus
In the vibrant town of Evergreen, nestled among lush green hills and blooming meadows, lived Amelia, a young girl with a deep love for nature. Her small but magical garden, filled with colorful flowers, buzzing bees, and fluttering butterflies, was her haven. However, an environmental issue loomed over Evergreen, threatening the very existence of this once-thriving ecosystem.
One bright morning, Amelia woke up to an eerie silence. She stepped into her garden and gasped in horror. The air was heavy with a pungent smell, and the once vibrant colors had faded. The bees and butterflies were nowhere to be seen. Distressed, Amelia knew something was terribly wrong. Determined to uncover the cause of this environmental devastation, Amelia embarked on a journey. She researched, interviewed experts, and discovered that nearby factories had been irresponsibly disposing of toxic waste into the river that ran through Evergreen The polluted water had seeped into the ground, contaminating the soil and affecting the delicate balance of nature
Amelia's heart ached for her garden and the creatures she cherished She decided to take matters into her own hands and lead a movement to raise awareness about the environmental issue plaguing Evergreen with her friends and neighbors by her side, she organized rallies, planted new trees, and educated people about the importance of preserving their natural surroundings News of Amelia’s efforts spread like wildfire, and the town rallied together, demanding change from the factory owners The community took steps to minimize waste, recycle diligently, and promote sustainable practices The local government enacted stricter regulations on industries, ensuring proper waste management and protecting the precious resources of Evergreen
Months passed, and gradually, the effects of the pollution began to reverse. The garden once again burst into life, with flowers blooming in a riot of colors Bees hummed merrily, and butterflies danced from flower to flower Amelia's face lit up with joy as she witnessed the revival of her beloved garden.
Amelia's determination and the united efforts of the evergreen community triumphed over the environmental crisis that had plagued their town. The story of their struggle and success served as a wake-up call, inspiring neighboring towns to take action against similar issues The incident brought about a greater understanding of the fragility of the environment and the need to protect it for future generations.
Amelia's garden became a symbol of resilience and the power of collective action. The tale of Evergreen reminded people that their choices and actions have far-reaching consequences and that it is their responsibility to preserve and nurture the environment Amelia's legacy lived on, as she continued to inspire others to become guardians of nature, ensuring that the beauty and harmony of the Evergreen town remained for generations to come.

Coaching in Isolation
by Enrico P Manalad, PhD Central Luzon State University
After many years as a coach, I am used to the early morning workouts, team spirit on the track, and competitive thrills of track and field meets. But the epidemic changed all that, replacing the usual routine with brand new difficulties and insights.
The transition from the physical world to the digital one presented an instant obstacle. Track and field is a physically demanding sport because of the importance of distance, speed, and technique. Without access to a track or field, it was crucial for me to devise workout routines that my athletes could complete in the comfort of their own homes. Another challenge was maintaining a positive team spirit throughout this time. The athletes' drive was dampened by a combination of factors, including a lack of human contact, postponed competitions, and unpredictability. When I was a coach, I had to play many different roles, including that of a cheerleader and a counselor, for the athletes I coached.
Despite the hardships, the pandemic did have some positive outcomes. The importance of flexibility was stressed throughout. I had to rethink my coaching methods, adapt to the digital age, and make better use of available online resources to supplement our time spent practicing on the field. The significance of mental toughness also became clear to me. Due to the uncertainty and loneliness caused by the epidemic, it has become increasingly important to develop one ' s mental fortitude. As a result, I shifted my attention to developing mental toughness by including stress-reduction and mindfulness practices in our sessions.
The pandemic made me realize the significance of social bonds. We made an effort to maintain our team spirit despite being separated by distance We reminded one other of our common interest in the sport by holding online team meetings and holding celebrations for individual achievements.
Coaching track and field during the pandemic has been an interesting and demanding experience. Important takeaways from this experience include the importance of shifting to virtual training, creating mental resilience, and strengthening our community As we readjust to this new normal, these lessons have shaped my coaching philosophy and given me the tools to help my athletes succeed not just in the sprint but in the long run.

Artificial Intelligence on Human Resources: Striking a Balance between Humanity and Efficiency
by And Julie D Rosal Pangasinan State University San Carlos City Campus
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has heralded the beginning of a new era for the management of human resources (HR), ushering in an abundance of new opportunities to improve decision-making and streamline operational procedures. As businesses all over the world begin to embrace the AI revolution, they will need to find a way to maximize productivity while maintaining a human factor in their operations.
The application of AI in human resources has led to a significant increase in the department's operational efficiency. Algorithms powered by AI make it possible to automate the process of finding candidates and screening their resumes, which cuts down on the amount of time and effort required for recruitment. AI-driven workforce analytics provides human resources professionals with the ability to gain valuable insights into employee performance, engagement levels, and potential skill gaps, which ultimately leads to more informed decision-making. In addition, the use of chatbots as virtual assistants can handle routine queries, which frees up HR staff to concentrate on more strategic and people-focused work.
The use of AI to solve HR problems has great potential. The problem of hiring bias is one example. Whether intentional or not, unconscious biases can play a role in the hiring process. But AI algorithms can be trained to value diversity and inclusion by giving equal weight to merit and expertise. Employees at risk of leaving the company can be pinpointed with the help of AI-powered predictive analytics, giving human resources the opportunity to proactively address retention issues and boost morale.
Even though AI improves efficiency, we can't ignore the importance of the human factor HR professionals play an essential part by acting as leaders with empathy who are able to comprehend the specific requirements and feelings of their workforce. Important facets of human resources management, such as developing meaningful connections with employees and providing individualized assistance, cannot be fully automated by AI Even though businesses are turning to AI to help them with mundane, time-consuming tasks, they still need to foster a culture that values human interaction, feedback, and recognition.
Upskilling HR teams is necessary if they are going to effectively embrace the AI revolution. It is critical to train HR professionals to interpret the insights generated by AI and to incorporate those insights into their decision-making processes This collaborative approach enables AI to augment existing HR capabilities rather than replace them, resulting in HR strategies that are both more intelligent and comprehensive.

In the reflection of your gaze, a realm born afresh, Fatherhood, a cloak, both daunting and blessed. Beneath the moon ' s gentle glow, and the sun ' s warm embrace, A father's path unfolds, guiding tiny feet with grace. In this grand voyage of life, his masterpiece is spun, For in the journey of a father, his greatest work is done.
Each smile, each tear, a page in our story, A tale woven with moments of joy and sorrow, Each one a brushstroke on the canvas of our lives, Painting a picture of love that forever thrives.
Love, a gentle breeze, embarked upon the night's hushed breath. In the glow of your mirth, my soul comprehends, The vastness of existence, within small hands it extends.
A dream-wrought castle, a love-forged fortress, Amidst the hushed lullabies, the stars gracefully converged overhead. In life's labyrinth, hand in hand, I'll tread, Through the intricate paths of fatherhood's map, Guided by the sweet melody of your laughter, I find my way, my heart forever glad.
Like the dance of seasons, as you bloom and gain, Within a father's heart, an eternal flame remains.
In the realm of fatherhood, where joy and tears collide, Where laughter dances freely and moments intertwine, Life's richest treasures, in their essence, are unveiled, A tapestry of love and memories, forever to be hailed

A twirl, a swoosh, a gentle touch of the net, the crowd's thunderous cheers, Within this enchanted realm, the soul takes flight.
A dance of leather, soaring high, A football's spiral in the sky, A comet's grace, a dazzling sight, Guided by hands, with all their might
A graceful ballet of precision and might, a wondrous display of soaring delight
Ensnared by towering titans, or propelled by agile kicks,
Within this gentle oval's hold, Comradeship is woven, stories unfold
The baseball soars, a dance in the sky, a poem unfolding in mid-flight
In the realm of the diamond's embrace, Where the crack of bat echoes with grace, A race to home, a fervent affair, Excitement dances, permeating the air
Within the rhythmic pulse of this adorned hide, A tale of passion and intrigue takes its stride
In the threads it clings, stories of powerful swings and skillful catches unfold
Rolls and dances, a symphony of chance With every kick, a story unfolds, Of triumph and defeat, of legends untold. The players, like artists, paint with their feet, Creating a masterpiece, both graceful and fleet. The ball, a vessel of hopes and desires, Ignites the passion, sets hearts on fire. In this arena, where dreams take flight, The soccer ball shines, a radiant light. It weaves through the grass, like a shooting star, Guided by skill, it travels far. Oh,

Heart Race
by Gypsy Rose J Capuno Cebu Technological University Carmen Campus
In the depths of my being, emotions ignite, As his cold voice resonates, a chill takes flight, Thrilling my ears, a captivating sound, A symphony of whispers, enchantment unbound
His almond eyes, windows to a soul so deep, Hold secrets untold, promises they keep, They fascinate my very core, in their mesmerizing gaze, Unearthing hidden passions, igniting a blaze. His genuine smile, a gift to behold, Unveils a world of warmth, more precious than gold, It wraps around my chest, a tender embrace, Filling me with joy, a tranquil and safe space. His charming face, a masterpiece divine, With every feature crafted, a work so fine, It stole my heart, a thief in the night, Leaving me breathless, blinded by love's light. In this celestial encounter, fate's gentle hand, Weaves a tapestry of connection, a love so grand, For his voice, his eyes, his smile, his face, Is the catalysts that make my heart race? So I surrender willingly, to this passion untamed, To the depth of emotions, forever unnamed, For in his presence, I find solace and bliss, A love that transcends, a sweet, eternal kiss.

In heart of Manila, where city lights gleam A tale of struggle, a forgotten dream. Amidst the bustling streets, life’s harshest scenes
Where poor souls dwell in shadows unseen.
Children with eyes like stars in the night Wander the alleys, seeking respite. Their laughter echoes a bittersweet sound In a world where hardship knows no bound.
In makeshift homes, they find their rest. On cold, hard pavements, they lay their nest. Their tiny hands search for scraps to eat. Yearning for warmth, a simple feat.
In the streets of Manila, stories untold. A struggle to survive, a battle bold. Families torn by poverty’s sting. Yet, hope persists like a fragile wing.

Poetry A Dehumanized Society, What is in it for me?
by Novlloyd E Celeste, EnP Northwest Samar State University
The society is in a battle of dehumanization
People do not realize this until they face the hard realization
People become fixated on popularity, power, pleasure, and wealth acquisition
Social relationships are threatened by technological transitions
Children once play physical games with one another,
Developing camaraderie, even in the form of playful teasing.
But now, bullying has become burdensome to some,
Leading to extreme outcomes like killings.
The technology human creates, We loved so dear that its effect with neglect. Our lives often depend solely on them. Making us extra human we cannot defend.
Today, social relationships depend on wireless connections.
Without it, there would be a loss of communication.
Even classroom lessons struggle without faceto-face interaction.
Unfortunately, this has been abused for various reasons.
As Self begins to battle with fame and honor. Media validation has become the norm. With social media as the shortest path to popularity.
Seeking approval through likes, shares, or followers is a shameful reality.
Social media has a strong influence as an agent of socialization.
To the extent it replaced our parents’ intimate relationship
Becoming the go-to of people who have no emphatic communication
Providing false hopes to people with no sense of direction
Many people treat social media as the real deal
Parents exposed their children to what is surreal
As a result, children and young people struggle to cope with reality
Because they lack real-world experience due to media popularity
Social media's power is so strong
It has left our young ones with no clear identity of their own.
Countless fashion designs, we mimic and borrow, Luxurious lifestyles we chase, drowning in sorrow.
In the pursuit of trends, we drift afar, Foolishness videos we follow forgetting who we are.
Reclaim our identity, shine like a star, For we are more than just followers, we are who we are.
We are dehumanizing each other in this changing society.
People are too focused on their own business and do not seem to care genuinely. If they do act kindly, It is often out of requirement rather than genuine sympathy. continued next page
VOLUME 1, ISSUE 3 JULY 2023 TEACHER'S GUIDE 23
continued from previous page Often, we deal with people as if they were technology.
The more we incline ourselves to technology, the more dehumanized we become, as do our loved ones.
The solutions parents provide to children through social media exposure. Is not the ultimate solution the children are looking for.
But genuine and quality time without technology intervention. A human would ever miss the experience as they grow on their own.
Trying to break our limits as a person will dehumanize us.
Let not technology master our circumstances, or it will ruin us.
Let's remember we are humans, not just tech tools, In the real world, sympathy, and kindness are the right rules
In this dehumanized world, let us find our way, Focus on empathy, connection, and His way Break the cycle, be true to who we are, In a dehumanized society, let Humanity's light be our guiding star

From ancient abacus to quantum's leap, With each innovation, humanity takes a sweep, Into futures uncharted, where knowledge thrives, Where human spirit and tech creativity connives.
Artificial minds, with neural might, Imitating thought, a sentient sight, Yet bound to creators, they humbly serve, In man and machine, a harmony to preserve
With virtual realms, we wander free, Exploring wonders, that once were mere reverie, Immersed in stories, our minds take flight, In pixels, we find a realm of insight.
But let us tread with cautious hearts, As data flows, and privacy departs, In this boundless world of ones and zeroes, Let ethics guide us through the heroes
For in this dance of innovation and soul, The union of heart and tech makes us whole, With knowledge vast and wonders grand, Hand in hand with tech, let's understand.
So let the poem ' s lines convey, The marvels of tech's bright array, A tribute to the minds that soar, And weave the future's open door.

Dili Gihapon Igo
by Junas Dungog Flores Cebu Technological University Main Campus
Lab-as pa kaayo sa akong panumduman, Tin-aw pa kaayo sa akong salabutan, Maguhit pa bisan piyungan, Kung naunsa ikaw nabugto-an.
Sakit kaayo sud-ungon, gustohon ko man nga ikaw buhion, apan salapi dili igo mopugong, sa lawas ug kalag mo ’ ng nitidlom.
Sakit kaayo pamalandungon, nga sa tanan nakong sakripisyo, Pagpamulaw, pagtripli sa trabaho, dili gihapon diay igo nga ikaw maayo.
Gibasol ko akong kaugalingon. Unsa pa man unta ang mabuhat ko?
Nganong dili pa man gyud igo ang gibuhat ko, Kay ikaw gibiyaan man ako.
Sa imong pagpanaw, lami na kaayong moligid ug motiyabaw, Apan dili nalang, kay ako naman diay ang bag-ong kusog sa nailúng pamilya.
Padayon, Ayaw Pasilong
by Junas Flores Cebu Technological University Main Campus
Lami na kaayong mopasilong, apan may nagsalig ug naghuwat og lamyunon. Lami na kaayo ihunong, apan may masakiton naghuwat og tambal imnonon.

Precious You
A Villanelle dedicated to my daughter
by Rogela A Flores Cebu Technological University Tuburan Campus
I have nothing in this world more precious than you
The sweetest reward from heaven I adore, For you, there is nothing I wouldn't do
Those perfect little features I hold in my heart wherever I go
To Him, I am grateful even more I have nothing in this world more precious than you.
I would walk upon thorns, barefoot and carry you.
The pain I would endure so your dreams you could explore.
For you, there is nothing I wouldn't do.
With all the beauty of the rarest brightest gems you glow. You bring me more joy than I ever hoped for. I have nothing in this world more precious than you.
I would bear all the heartaches and troubles you fall into, And be your wings to help you soar. For you, there is nothing I wouldn't do.
In every woe, you are the reason I pull through.
The smile on my face you never failed to restore I have nothing in this world more precious than you.
For you, there is nothing I wouldn't do.
Love of my Life
by Marie Joy B. Alit, PhD Cebu Technological University Main Campus
One summer day as I glance through the window
I could see myself with a certain glow I think this day would be wonderful Life has always been beautiful
I could not fathom that today I would meet The man who would knock me off my feet He was tall, fair skinned and handsome I couldn’t help myself but tell him he’s awesome
Awed by the look on his face
I would melt like ice in place
We became friends and eventually lovers We were always happy when we ’ re together
He then asked for my hand in marriage
I said yes since we are of right age
We were blessed with two lovely children who Were the cutest of hue
I thank God of our family of four
An answered prayer I have waiting for And I could not ask for more.

Poetry
Shattered by his love
by Rogela A. Flores Cebu Technological University Tuburan Campus
Once there were two lovers so in love. It seemed they're matched by angels from above.
Their hearts full of ecstasy, Edmond and Rosalie.
In each other's arms they belonged dearly.
But like the breeze, things changed so suddenly.
He didn't seem happy; he treated her differently.
Scared, confused, she delved into the deep unknown.
Tormented, distraught, she felt all alone.
To Edmond one day she broke her doubts courageously.
"Why, my love, did your heart grow so weary? Cause you have my heart locked by a chain, And the farther you walk, the harder the pain."
Gently, he placed his hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, we ' re just not meant for each other. "
A moment of silence, disbelief swimming in her head.
Then tears flowed freely down her cheeks, so pallid.
She looked into his eyes and held her breath. The thought of losing him would mean certain death.
It was all over; he wanted her no more. She was swept out of his life like the dust on the floor
She tried to hold her temper, But she busted into anger
"You said that you loved me, that we should get wed!
We then bought a house, new kitchen & bed!"
Never had her eyes stared at him indignantly, Cause that was he who broke the heart of Rosalie
So, she ran away, mindless of the world around her
The pain and hurt she thought she couldn't bear
Her heart was bruised, her soul was crumbled
The deep despair of Rosalie rumbled
Her life had lost all meaning, so one day like a pendulum she was swinging.
Poor Rosalie had her way to put an end to her suffering.
In A Heartbeat
by Dexter G. Alit, PhD Cebu Technological University Main Campus
Within the heart, a rhythm drum beats, An electrical pulse, where passion meets, A symphony of music, two hearts feats, Their paths have crossed, their journey greets.
With their feelings charged, they connect Their hearts as one but they try to reject As butterflies hum, the heart would shout and roar, As it gladly opens feelings inside its door.
The current that runs, in their body flows, Powering their heart that’s where comfort grows, The heartbeat of friendship, true and close, Weaving connections, as they have their own prose.
Oh, heartbeat of two friends, steady and clear, Connecting with each other, so far yet so near, Feelings for each other, ever sincere, We know that only friendship is what we have here

Ben's Resilience: Overcoming Adversity in Pursuit of Education
by Nove D. Jalandoni, PhD. RGC West Visayas State University-Pototan Campus
Meet Ben, a young and determined Education college student hailing from a humble background. Growing up in a lowincome community rife with challenges, he faced obstacles that could have easily stifled his dreams. However, like a sprout pushing through concrete, Ben's resilience shines as a testament to the power of determination in the face of adversity.
While community violence research has shed some light on the complexities of growing up in disadvantaged neighborhoods, Ben's story highlights the need for a deeper understanding of the factors that promote and mitigate the impact of such violence on young individuals. Beyond the social and economic context, there's much to learn about how family, school, and community dynamics can influence the prevalence of community violence.
Despite the odds stacked against him, Ben's thirst for knowledge and unwavering commitment to his education acted as protective factors. Supported by his family, friends, and a few empathetic teachers, he found the strength to focus on his studies amidst the turbulence surrounding him.
As we explore the predictors of community violence and its implications on mental health and behavior, Ben's journey reminds us of the potential consequences such violence can have on children and families The trauma of witnessing violence in his community left scars, but Ben's determination to rise above his circumstances became a beacon of hope
Beyond individual fortitude, the sources of resilience in the community played a pivotal role in Ben's life The support he received from community-based organizations and local mentors nurtured his ambition and helped him navigate the challenges of life in an underprivileged neighborhood
Reflecting on Ben's story, we come to question the current conceptualizations of risk and resilience The mere absence of protective factors doesn't adequately capture the strength and determination of individuals like Ben There is a need to redefine and expand our understanding of resilience to encompass the fortitude that emerges from within oneself and the community
As we celebrate Ben's achievements, it's essential to recognize the limitations in our current approach to studying community violence More research is needed to understand the full scope of social, environmental, and contextual factors that can shield young people from exposure to violence
Ben's story is not just an inspiring tale; it's a call to action It highlights the urgency for community-driven initiatives and government efforts to address the root causes of community violence and provide preventive measures and support systems. Ben's success in the face of adversity exemplifies the potential impact of targeted interventions that empower young individuals to thrive despite their circumstances.
Looking forward, Ben's story serves as a guiding light for future research endeavors. His experiences underscore the need for comprehensive studies that examine the interplay of various factors shaping the lives of those exposed to community violence. This knowledge will not only empower educators and policymakers but also strengthen the very fabric of communities like Ben's.

The Unsung Heroes: Teachers Making a Difference
by Mark John A Belleza Northern Iloilo State University
Amidst the glittering world of famous superheroes like Batman, Darna, Spiderman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, there exists a different breed of heroes often unnoticed the real-life heroes found in the small world of a Grade VI classroom When asked about their favorite heroes, the students did not mention celebrities or comic book characters; instead, they spoke of their teachers
The movie "Stand and Deliver" continues to hold timeless relevance, resonating with today's generation It depicts a school struggling with delinquent students, lacking motivation, and starved of attention from parents and teachers The story reflects a setting where discipline overshadows imparting values and real-life applications of academics In such an environment, what the students truly need is not just strict rules, but a compassionate and understanding teacher someone like Mr. Jaime Escalante.
Mr. Escalante embodies the essence of a teacher with unwavering dedication, acting as a second father figure to his students. Beyond being an educator, he is a motivator, an influencer, and a man willing to sacrifice his happiness for the betterment of his students.
As an elementary mathematics teacher for nearly eight years, I understand the challenges of teaching this subject when students lack foundational knowledge. Following Mr. Escalante's example, I have explored various teaching strategies to inspire my students. Differentiated instruction has been a turning point, as connecting mathematical concepts to real-life situations sparks creativity and critical thinking among my students, making the subject more relevant and important to them.
Mr. Escalante's approach extended beyond the classroom; he built strong relationships with his students by visiting their homes and workplaces, understanding their realities to tailor his lessons accordingly. Inspired by this, I embarked on home visits to absent students, discovering the struggles they faced in
balancing work and studies. This experience motivated me to be more empathetic and creative in addressing their missed lessons, transforming challenges into learning opportunities for all.
The influence of a teacher stretches far beyond the classroom, impacting students' lives in unexpected ways. During the Advanced Placement Exam, Mr Escalante's students surpassed expectations, achieving remarkable results Their success was a testament to his effective strategies and genuine care for their academic journey
The film "Stand and Deliver" serves as a beacon of inspiration for students and teachers alike, advocating for a learnercentered approach that celebrates each student's potential Mr Escalante symbolizes the modern teacher a hero committed to nurturing understanding and passion for the subjects they teach
In today's world, we need more teachers like Mr Escalante heroes who dedicate their time and energy to the pursuit of knowledge, shaping young minds, and molding the future These passionate teachers represent the true living heroes, shaping society's destiny through education
As I reflect on Mr Escalante's life and legacy, I am reminded of my own journey as an educator His story inspires me to be more than just a teacher but a living hero a mentor and influencer making a lasting impact on my students' lives.
Within the heart of every classroom, amidst rows of desks and chalkboards, lies the real magic the magic of passionate teachers who breathe life into education and inspire change one lesson at a time. These unsung heroes are the true living heroes we celebrate and honor the teachers who shape the future with their unwavering dedication and boundless passion.

The War against Learning Poverty
by Marissa T. Aquino and Vercelle A. Docdoc Northwest Samar State University
The war against COVID-19 is finally won according to the Philippine government as the public health emergency due to COVID-19 was finally lifted on July 21, 2023 by President Ferdinand Marcos through Proclamation No 297 This is definitely a triumph to the health sectors Kudos to their dedication in serving despite the risks However, will this also be a cathartic instance to the education sectors? The blended learning, the module distribution, the online classes will all these finally be ditched? Maybe yes or maybe not It will always depend on the Department of Education’s (DepEd’s) learning needs assessment not to mention the adoption of the “ new normal” in teaching and learning
In any case, there is still one salient war in the education sector that remains and not even the cunning Odysseus’ Trojan Horse can do the trick to defeat – the war against learning poverty According to UIS and World Bank (May 2021), the learning poverty in the Philippines was “56 4 percentage points higher the average for the East Asia and the Pacific region and 30 5 percentage points higher than the average for lower middle income countries ” World Bank further surmised that the Philippine learning poverty is among highest in the region. The worst had even yet to come as Mojarro (August 9, 2022), of the Manila Times shared the report of World Bank on education and the data showed 90.9 percent of Filipino children aged 10 appeared to be in learning poverty. As ordinary teachers ourselves, this is heartbreaking.
Were these data the consequence of DepEd’s almost two-year school closures to curve COVID-19? Apparently not as the report further stated that the education crisis in the Philippines is the result of decades of learning mismanagement. In the school year 2011-2012, DepEd even tried to troubleshoot this crisis by adapting the K to 12 Curriculum in basic education which aims to “provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills.” Unfortunately, adding two years in basic education has gone awry. More subjects have
been added but meager learning among the students has been benefited; hence the learning poverty that DepED had finally admitted in 2021. Is it the case of information and work overload? If our own experience as students of the old curriculum would be considered, maybe it is. The writers have had only six basic subjects in the old curriculum compared to 13 of the new We had English, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan, Home Ecomomics, and Physical Education With those, we were fine We did not have the extra modern technology that students enjoy today But we were fine We did not have an easy access to information in the internet to comply our assignments and projects But we were fine In our barangay high school, we had library but the books were very few and outdated But we were fine
So, why does the Philippine education at its lowest? Who or what is the culprit? I can only focus on one powerful controller: politics Yes, that’s where the actual crisis lies – the national education policies are controlled by politics Politicians in the Philippines becomes more powerful than the well-being of the citizens whom they owe their positions from Politicians care more of their personal benefits than cure the cancer in education Not even the education experts can help as they, themselves, can only submit research and present analysis but their hands are actually tied and their great ideas are lost in the helm of political machinations.
Sadly, the teachers down below the ladder of education administration hierarchy always take the blame in this blunder. They are constantly the target of haters and bashers among the judgmental. If students are educationally challenged, teachers are asked: “What happened?” “What intervention did you make?” “You need to exert more effort.” and more whys, hows, and whats. Admittedly, there are minute occurences of teachers “cutting classes”, but most, I can proudly say, do their utmost to perform that “result oriented” order by DepEd and even CHED.
As teachers ourselves, we are constantly in the battlefield when a semester begins. We continued next page...
TEACHER'S GUIDE 10 VOLUME 1, ISSUE 3 JULY 2023
Essay
at one of the universities in Samar and have the first-hand knowledge of this learning crisis We have had first year college students who could barely read not to mention know a vocabulary as simple as “reminisce ” Some cannot even construction a simple SubjectVerb-Object sentence Our hearts bleed for the victims of these crisis Both teachers and students Efforts have been exerted in creating a learning environment that could cater to the different levels and abilities of learners However, with 50 to 60 students in a class or sometimes more, our singular selves could only do so much
The ultimate question is: When will this learning poverty turn into educational affluence? When will our students, especially those in the bottom of the inverted sociopyramid be able to overcome their difficulty in mathematics? When will our science subject becomes at par with Singapore, Japan, and Korea? We sometimes wish we were Maa Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of education, so we could bring order to this chaotic Philippine education, and became victors of this war against learning poverty.
