PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Dear Fellow Members, You have all been informed about the Club’s financial situation and the way forward for the short term. I would like to thank all members who attended the EGM and all those who shared their opinions, suggestions and ideas for the Club. It really means a lot when members show their involvement and offer their help. During the past few weeks, the Main Committee has put together various work groups consisting of members to assist us with specific topics such as Real Estate, Loans and Business Strategy. If you would like to contribute with your expertise in any related field, please contact the Main Committee. In recent months, the Main Committee members have committed a huge amount of time and effort to our Club’s current situation. For some of us, this has been on a full-time basis and we cannot do it alone. At the EGM on the 14th December, we presented several directions for the future of the Club. Please bear in mind that at this stage there is not one solution to solve all problems. Together, we need to further discuss various options and scenarios. In the meantime, we need to focus on short-term financing options. I would also like to inform you that my family and I are relocating to Dubai at the end of December 2015. Although the timing is not by any means ideal, given the Club’s current issues, I strongly believe that we have a good team on board to secure the future of the Hollandse Club. Together we can beat these difficult times. I will look back very fondly on our 5 ½ beautiful years in Singapore, in which the Hollandse Club played an important role in our daily lives. From swimming to tennis; from hockey to judo; not forgetting all the social activities - it has been great! We will sincerely miss all of this. My duties as president will be taken over by the vice president, Anneloes van Haaren, until the upcoming AGM in March. Please do not hesitate to contact her if you have any questions. As some of you have already heard, our General Manager, Daniel van Dijk, is relocating to the Netherlands. We would like to thank Daniel for all the effort and work during the past year, and we wish him all the best in future adventures. We are in the process of hiring a new General Manager. As soon as there’s any news, the Main Committee will inform you. I would like to thank my fellow committee members for all the effort they have put into the Club over the past few years. It has not been easy at all. We had – and still have - tough times, but I do still believe that together we can achieve a lot. Stay positive, although I know it’s not always easy. A big, big thank-you to all of you! Last but not least, I would like to thank all Hollandse Club staff for the wonderful years. My family and I enjoyed every moment at the Hollandse Club, partly because of all of you. We will take you and Singapore in our hearts wherever we go.
