Dr. Rosemary McGunnigle-Gonzales, Department of Sociology, Hofstra University, will discuss racial segregation, tension, and the place of “race” in the construction of American “race riots.” In this presentation, we will dig into the case of a 1964 civil rights era protest on Long Island to see what was reported then and what is remembered today.
