GOD’S Abundance

From the Administrator

Dear Friends and Supporters of Harbor Light Christian School,

As I reflect on the past school year, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible ways God has worked. Each achievement- academically, athletically, and most importantly, spiritually- has been a testament to the power and love that God pours out on us, and has brought glory to our God of Glory. Our students’ and staff’s willingness to follow the Lord’s leading has allowed us to build His kingdom together, creating a vibrant community rooted in faith and in the purpose of preparing nextgeneration leaders to know, love, and serve Christ.

This year, we witnessed remarkable success across various fronts. Academically, our students excelled in the classroom. I am excited to share that with the faithful help of our new reading intervention program some students who were previously below grade level for reading made significant gains. In classrooms throughout the school, students demonstrated resilience and dedication to learning, which is setting a strong foundation for their futures. Athletically, our teams were enjoyable to watch! God provided some amazing new coaching staff members, and I got to witness exceptional sportsmanship and teamwork, bringing pride to our school community and more importantly shining a light for Christ in the darkness of the world. Yet, it is the spiritual growth that truly stands out. Through engaging chapel services, meaningful Missions Day service projects, and authentic fellowship, our students deepened their relationship with Christ. At HLCS we are profoundly thankful for God's provision in every aspect of our journey, echoing the promise found in Ephesians 3:20, which reminds us that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.

As we look ahead, we will continue to pursue His calling with hearts full of faith and gratitude. Together, let’s remain committed to fostering an environment that not only prioritizes academic and athletic excellence, but truly nurtures the spiritual growth of each student. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the mission of Harbor Light Christian School.

S Community lost a valuable member this year

Becky McCray was an amazing supporter of Christian education. She faithfully served on the HLCS Board for over 25 years. Working with 8 administrators, seeing the school through ups and downs, many additions including the Solid Rock project, and many beautiful moments in between.

Becky and the McCray family have been a part of the HLCS community for over 30 years. The McCray's saw their 4 children graduate from HLCS.

Vanessa - Class of 1997

Benjamin - Class of 2004

Mischa - Class of 2005

Victoria - Class of 2007

"It has truly been a blessing to have known Becky throughout the last 25 years From coaching her boys and seeing her cheering in the stands, to serving with her on the HLCS Board She always brought great ideas to the table, backed by facts and Truth She will be missed in so many ways." - Jeff Jakeway, HLCS Board Member

Inception of a New Leadership Scholarship

HLCS’ mission is to prepare next-generation leaders for Christ Last year a new scholarship for 10th graders was created with the support of a generous donor to help prepare more students to lead. The scholarship recipient will attend a leadership summer camp and after they return share their experiences. In 2024, Travis Rose was awarded the Leadership Scholarship.

SOWING INTO THE FUTURE

The Class of 2024 saw 13 students off to college and 1 directly into the work force. All of them are equipped to be leaders for Christ in this next generation!

What does an HLCS graduate have to offer the world?

At Harbor Light Christian School, we strive to have our graduating students well-rounded in faith and education. Our Model Student Outcomes provide a snapshot of who a maturing HLCS student is. We believe that God has a call on each student's life, and it is our job to cultivate curriculum as well as experiences to help students grow toward these outcomes and the call that God has on their life.

...commits the Word of God to their heart and mind

...has confidence in their identity in Christ

...is a servant leader, prepared and motivated for lifelong service

...lives out the gospel by loving their neighbor

...is academically prepared in all areas

HLCS has fostered an environment that deeply strengthened our son ’ s faith, allowing him to discern God’s calling on his life. The curriculum not only challenged him academically but also prepared him thoroughly for college-level learning. We are confident that he is now ready and equipped to step into the world with a clear sense of purpose and mission. His experiences at HLCS have truly set him up for success! - Javen and Rebecca Chamberlin

Where did our financial support come from?

“I have enjoyed working at HLCS for all of the 30 years that I have been here! There are a couple of things that are the most meaningful to me. One, I love working in a Godly environment with families who are striving for excellence. I also love the challenges that each year brings. There is always something new!”
