Dwayne Benbow It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dwayne Benbow announce his passing on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the young age of 59. He was the second of five children born to David and Reta Benbow. Dwayne was born in Edmonton but lived his entire life in Hinton, Alberta. He married his soul mate, Shelley Powers, on February 26, 1977. Together they raised three daughters. Dwayne leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Shelley Benbow, children: Mandy Benbow (Sean Mumby), Chrissy (Kevin) Georgeson, Jamie (Mark) Davy, mother Reta Benbow and mother-in-law Beverly Powers, and his six grandchildren: Caileb, Tye, Kennedy, Thomas, Natalie and Cohen. He was predeceased by his father, David Benbow and father-inlaw Steve Powers. Dwayne was a loving and dedicated husband and father. Always the first to crack a joke or make an inappropriate comment with that witty sparkle in his eyes. Dwayne worked at West Fraser (Weldwood and any other number of names throughout the years) and just very recently retired. He spent many hours in his shop tinkering on numerous projects. Between the cars, the drums and Shelley he had a lot to keep him busy and happy. A Memorial Service will be held at the Hinton Royal Canadian Legion on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Dwayne, and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, 2A9.006 MAHI, 8440-112th Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 2B7.

FRONT PAGE

T S E T N O C O T O PH As usual, we have accelerated deadlines for our upcoming Dec. 29 and Jan. 5 papers. That can make it hard to come up with relevant photos, especially short staffed...

So here’s your chance to get a photo on the front page of the paper and think like a reporter. What we look for: Faces!

We always prefer faces, the bigger and brighter, the better... But here’s the catch... No posing allowed! Capturing a real moment tells a story, and that’s what we’re all about.

Names!

Everyone in the photo must be identified with first and last names and have given consent (parents must give consent for minors).

Non-seasonal!

By the time these papers come out we’ve usually loaded up on all the December seasonal type coverage and it can be a challenge.

Sharp, sharp, sharp!

We’ve run photos from cell phones before, equipment isn’t what disqualifies a photo for us... But in order to look good printed on newsprint the photo must be sharp. No amount of Photoshop will fix a photo that starts out blurry.

Decent file size!

Again, cell phone photos can work if they’re well-lit to begin with, but make sure email or any programs touching the photo after it’s taken don’t resize it. Because of the nature of news we can’t guarantee what paper will have the front page photo – keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information. Photos not chosen for the front page may still be used within the paper.

Email your photos and information to info@hintonvoice.ca.
