FIVE TROPHIES CUSTOMERS LOVED OVER THE PAST 12 MONTHS
From school sports days to corporate awards nights, the last 12 months have seen strong trends in trophy buying across the industry. While preferences vary by sector and budget, some designs have clearly resonated more than others. Here’s a look at five trophy styles that have consistently captured customer attention.
Crystal Globe Trophy
With its sleek, elegant design and international flair, the crystal globe trophy continues to impress. Often chosen for corporate awards and global initiatives, its clear, polished finish and refined feel lend themselves to highprestige events. Many businesses favour it for leadership recognition or sustainability-themed honours.
Resin Sports
Figure Trophy
Still a mainstay for grassroots clubs and youth sports teams, the resin sports figure trophy remains a go-to option for
coaches and event organisers. Designs featuring footballers, gymnasts, dancers, and martial artists are especially popular. These trophies are appreciated for their affordability, durability, and increasing range of inclusive designs.
Glass Star Award
Stylish and versatile, the glass star award has become a favourite for internal company recognition and milestone celebrations. The star motif combined with minimalist design appeals to modern tastes, while options for coloured glass bases and detailed engraving give it a bespoke feel.
ENGRAVE WITH EXCELLENCE:
CO2 and Fibre Laser Engravers
HPC Laser’s range of CO2 and fibre laser engravers can be used for many purposes, from personalising gifts to enhancing industrial production processes. Machines are available with either a CO2 or Fibre laser source and a galvo head, allowing you to choose the machine most suited to your requirements.
Benefits of Laser Engraving Machines:
Speed and Efficiency
Precision and Accuracy
Versatility
CO2 engravers can be up to 10x faster than a conventional laser cutter, enhancing productivity.
Laser engravers provide extremely precise and detailed engravings, with consistency and repeatability.
Laser engravers can process a wide range of materials, depending on the laser source. These can be metals, fabrics, wood, ceramics, and more!
Low maintenance
Galvo laser engraving machines have fewer moving parts and need less maintenance than traditional engraving tools or CO2 laser cutters, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
Traditional Silver Cup
The traditional silver cup holds strong as a symbol of prestige and achievement. Whether used for school tournaments, academic competitions, or local community events, the classic design
continues to resonate. Customers are leaning toward higher-quality versions with engraved lids, wooden plinths, and solid handles that emphasise lasting value.
Eco-Friendly Bamboo Plaque
Sustainability is influencing buying decisions across all sectors, and the eco-friendly bamboo plaque is leading the way in greener recognition. Its warm
tones and natural texture make it a stylish alternative to traditional materials. It’s especially popular with schools, nonprofits, and environmentally conscious organisations seeking a modern yet meaningful award.
Looking Ahead
The key trends in trophy buying continue to reflect broader values: customisation, sustainability, and meaningful design. Buyers are increasingly looking for trophies that say more than just “you’ve won”—they want pieces that reflect identity, purpose, and pride. With this mix of classic favourites and emerging styles, the awards market is showing that recognition can be both timeless and forward-thinking.

Cinque Trofei Amati
dai Clienti negli Ultimi
12 Mesi
Trofeo Globo in Cristallo
Premio Stella in Vetro
Coppa Tradizionale in Argento
Targa Ecologica in Bambù

EAT MY LOGO TEAMED UP WITH CHORLEY COUNCIL FOR 2025 CHORLEY 10K
For the second consecutive year, Chorley Council partnered with local bakery Eat My Logo to provide personalised Chorley Cakes to runners in the well-loved Chorley 10K, which took place on 4 May. The collaboration, which began in 2024, was renewed for 2025 to offer participants a sweet, locally inspired reward as they crossed the finish line.
The Chorley 10K has become a key event in the town’s running calendar, drawing people of all ages and abilities to celebrate fitness, community, and local culture. Keen to mark the occasion with a meaningful keepsake, Chorley Council once again turned to Eat My Logo to produce bespoke cakes that commemorated the race and celebrated local heritage.
Eat My Logo, known for its customised cakes, biscuits and sweet treats, was delighted to continue its work with the council. Directors Ruth and Andy Poar not only oversaw the baking process— they also took part in the run themselves.
“We were thrilled to work with Chorley Council again for this year’s event,”
said Ruth Poar. “Seeing how much the runners appreciated the cakes last year was incredibly rewarding, and we loved continuing that tradition.” Andy Poar added, “Crossing the finish line and enjoying one of our own Chorley Cakes made it all the more special!”
The personalised cakes added a distinctive touch to the 2025 race, allowing runners to take home not just a sense of achievement but a taste of Chorley’s culinary charm.

RETHINKING RETAIL: HOW TROPHY AND AWARDS SHOPS CAN BOOST SALES BY THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX
For decades, retail trophy shops have served their communities with pride—engraving names on shining cups, medals, and plaques that mark life’s big moments. But the market is changing. Online competitors, shifting customer expectations, and demand for fast, personalised service mean that traditional sales approaches may no longer be enough.
To thrive in this evolving landscape, it’s time for retail businesses in the trophy and awards sector to start thinking outside the box. Here are some ideas that may help your retail strategy:
Turn Your Shop into an Experience Centre
Retailers have a powerful advantage that online-only competitors lack: a physical presence. Rather than simply being a place where trophies are bought and picked up, transform your store into a creative destination:
Set up a “Design Your Own Trophy” station with digital previews.
Host mini-award ceremonies for kids’ sports teams or schools—offer photo backdrops and props.
Display unusual and eye-catching custom designs in-store to inspire walk-ins.
This kind of interactive environment makes your store memorable and drives word-of-mouth referrals.
Broaden Your Customer Base
Your core customers may be schools, clubs, and local businesses—but there’s opportunity beyond that:
Parents and pet owners: Offer novelty and celebration awards for pets, kids, or family milestones
(e.g. “Best Big Brother”, “Potty Training Champion”, “Pet of the Month”).
Local fitness studios and wellness coaches: Create bulk packages for monthly challenges, yoga milestones, or weightloss recognitions.
Remote workers and virtual teams: Sell mail-out
“Team Most Valuable Player” kits that companies can send directly to remote employees.
These customers may not traditionally walk through your doors—but targeted marketing can bring them in.
Offer Fast, Flexible Customisation
Speed and personalisation are everything in today’s retail environment. If you haven’t already:
Invest in laser engraving and digital printing equipment for on-the-spot service.
Use software that allows you to design and preview awards live with customers.
Offer “same-day engraving” or rush services at a premium.
This not only gives you a competitive edge but also makes you the go-to for last-minute shoppers.
Sell Recognition Kits and Bundles
Rather than selling trophies one at a time, create bundles that encourage bigger orders:
“Event in a Box” kits with trophies, medals, certificates, and thank-you gifts.
Themed award sets (e.g. “End of Term Teacher Packs” or “Office Party Prizes”).
Seasonal bundles tied to sports seasons, school terms, or holidays.
Bundling not only increases average order value but also saves your customers time and hassle—making you their first choice next time around.
Use Social Media to Tell Your Customers’ Stories
One of the most effective ways to market trophies is to showcase the celebrations they’re part of. Ask customers to:
Tag your store on social media when they post award photos.
Share short testimonials or stories about the event or recipient.
Use a custom hashtag for community events you supply.
This builds an emotional connection to your brand and turns every trophy into a piece of visual marketing.
Sustainability as a Differentiator
Today’s customers are increasingly eco-conscious. Offer sustainable options such as:
Awards made from recycled materials, wood, or bamboo.
Refurbishment or recycling programs for old trophies.
Digital certificates and badges as low-carbon alternatives.
Being environmentally aware not only attracts new customers but also positions your shop as forward-thinking and responsible.
Final Thought: Your Shop is More Than a Storefront
Retail trophy and awards businesses are uniquely positioned to offer personal, tangible, and emotional value. By reimagining what your shop can offer—through creativity, smart packaging, digital engagement, and new customer segments—you can boost sales, strengthen your local presence, and ensure your business continues to thrive well into the future.
Because in this industry, you’re not just selling trophies—you’re helping people celebrate what matters most.

MIMAKI’S NEW ELH AND ELS NEXT GENERATION SVHCAND CMR-FREE INKS MADE GLOBAL DEBUT AT FESPA 2025
Mimaki Europe, a leading provider of industrial inkjet printers and cutting plotters, debuted yet another world-first, market innovation at FESPA Global Print Expo 2025 – the new Mimaki ELH and ELS UV ink range. These new inks have been formulated to be completely free of SVHC*1 and, uniquely, CMR*2, therefore reducing the impact on human health and the environment. They were demonstrated for the first time at Mimaki’s FESPA stand (Hall 1.2 / Stand B20) alongside an exciting lineup of Mimaki’s latest, cutting-edge technology.
In line with Mimaki’s unwavering commitment to bring innovations to market that support a more sustainable future, its new ELH and ELS UV inks meet an urgent need for SVHC(Substances of Very High Concern) free measures throughout the industry. As pressure to restrict the use of inks and printed materials containing SVHC continues to increase, Mimaki has taken the trailblazing decision to develop a range of inks that are not only SVHC-free but also do not use CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, and Reproductive toxicants), which are known to have adverse effects on human health. Additionally, the odour emitted when using ELH and ELS inks is reduced by approximately 30%*3 compared to conventional UV inks, providing a more comfortable working environment.
Additionally, the new ELH inks maintain the same high scratch resistance as the conventional LH-100, while the ELS inks provide the same flexibility as the conventional LUS-120.
inks that meet these concerns head-on demonstrates Mimaki’s commitment to developing products that are safe, highly functional and environmentally friendly. In addition, many of the brands our customers supply now promote CMR-free compliance as part of efforts to strengthen corporate sustainability strategies and ESG investment. These new inks will therefore give our customers a strong competitive edge to further support brands with their own sustainability strategy and goals.”
The ELH and ELS inks are scheduled for gradual release after June 2025.

Arjen Evertse, Director Sales at Mimaki Europe, explains, “In recent years, demand for CMR-free products has been growing rapidly against the backdrop of increasing awareness for safety, the environment, and health. Being the first to develop
