5 SHOW GUIDE 2023

Become an Acknowledged Leader in Surface Engineering and Materials Finishing: Industry Recognised Training Courses from the IMF

Are you involved with the application of coatings to enhance and protect your products? Do you need to meet client specifications to ensure the longevity of your components? Does the complex world of surface engineering and materials finishing cause you headaches?

If so, the courses offered by the Institute of Materials Finishing (IMF) could be your solution!

The IMF have been promoting knowledge in the surface finishing industries, both inorganic surface treatments including plating and the application of organic paints, lacquers and varnishes for many years. Large numbers of engineers and technicians across a multitude of industries have benefitted from the knowledge gained to enhance their careers, their standing within industry and the ability to

problem solve the many challenges they face in their daily working lives!

Starting with the Foundation level course, students gain knowledge on all aspects of materials finishing, specifically aimed at their own industry requirements, but to include sections on Health & Safety, the Environment and Surface Finishing and Corrosion Protection. There is no need for a

science background to be able to successfully complete a foundation course.

The Foundation Course requires study of 15 sections and requires the submission of 2 marked assignments followed by an end examination. The course, conducted by distance learning will take 16 weeks to complete. There are three specific study routes to choose from; electroplating, organic coatings and aerospace finishing. On successful completion, the student is awarded the Foundation Certificate. To follow on, students can then elect to progress to the Technician level modules, which give more in-depth knowledge for key finishing technologies, their application and best practice methods. Again, both inorganic and organic technologies can be studied to match the industry requirements. There is a choice of eight modules, which provide study in applicable areas of surface finishing best matched to your needs.

Like the Foundation course, study is by distance learning, and the student is required to complete four marked assignments and pass an examination. Passing two technician modules leads to the award of Technician Certificate; passing four modules leads to the award of an Advanced Technician Certificate.

If you feel your career could benefit from being a recognised specialist in your particular branch of Surface Engineering or Materials Finishing, then contact the IMF today. Speak with our training manager Karen Yates on +44 (0)121 622 7287 or e-mail at karen@materialsfinishing.org.

Move your career to the next level and join the finishing community and all the benefits that gives through the IMF.

QUALICOAT UK & IRELAND

QUALICOAT Supports Surface World

Membership of the UK & Ireland Association continues to grow as the QUALICOAT Specification continues to be adopted by architectural powder coaters, powder manufacturers and pretreatment systems companies. Now with 44 members across the region, the aim of the Association remains the adoption of the most up to date methodologies and specifications to ensure the very best in architectural powder coating for specifiers in the construction industry.

QUALICOAT Members will be on hand on stand A20 at the forthcoming Surface World exhibition which takes place on the 4th & 5th October in Hall 11 at the NEC in Birmingham. If you are attending please drop by to meet us and discuss any issues you may have or possibly discuss with us your potential membership. Tickets for the show are available from the surfaceworld.com website.

The Association aims to communicate two of the USP’s of the QUALICOAT Specification.

The Specification is ‘the only globally recognised specification for architectural powder coating’. This means that as a specifier you can specify QUALICOAT for any project, anywhere and it will be supported with a local, licensed supply chain.

WE’RE AT SURFACE WORLD MEET US ON STAND A20 8 SHOW GUIDE 2023

The Specification is also ‘the only third party accredited specification for architectural powder coating’ services. Powder coating Members are visited, unannounced, twice yearly by an independent test house who inspects current processes and checks records to ensure the Specification is being followed. Failure to follow the Specification can lead to a Member losing their QUALICOAT licence allowing them to use the quality label.

The history of the Association makes interesting reading. In 1986 several national associations encompassing coaters of architectural systems formed a quality label organisation and called it QUALICOAT. Their goal was to raise and standardise the level of quality of powder coating throughout Europe, laying down rules applying to their industry. Today, companies from all five continents have now become licensees and the number of national and international associations has continued to grow. Through the efforts of Members over the past few decades, QUALICOAT has continued to play a key role in assuring the quality of coatings on aluminium

systems used in architecture. Architectural aluminium powder coaters, powder suppliers and manufacturers of pretreatment chemical systems have been represented on the QUALICOAT committees from the outset, thereby ensuring an exchange of ideas and information between coaters and their suppliers. These committees and working group undertake research and determine agreements that form the basis of the constantly updated QUALICOAT Specification we know today.

The current QUALICOAT Specification is freely available for download via the Association website, qualicoatuki.org and offers an up-to-date list of licensed UK and Ireland Powder Suppliers, Pretreatment Suppliers and Applicators. Telephone support is available from QUALICOAT UK & Ireland Head Office in Birmingham on 0330 236 2800, the Association can also be followed on Twitter @Qualicoatuki or on LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/ company/qualicoat-uk-&-ireland.

62 SHOW GUIDE 2023 ELECTRON
WE’RE AT SURFACE WORLD MEET US ON STAND C2

The advantages of using fluorinated solvents for your vapour degreasing process

Fluorinated solvents, also known as fluorocarbon solvents, offer several advantages in various industrial and scientific applications, including being highly suited for vapour degreasing. Here are some of the key advantages of using fluorinated solvents:

Environmental Compatibility:

Fluorinated solvents are often chosen as alternatives to more hazardous solvents due to their relatively low impact on the environment. They have low ozone depletion potential (ODP) and negligible global warming potential (GWP). Additionally, they have low toxicity and are not classified as hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).

Chemical Stability:

Fluorinated solvents exhibit excellent chemical stability, making them highly resistant to degradation and reactions with other chemicals. They are compatible with a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, and elastomers. This stability allows for their use in challenging environments and with reactive substances.

Solvency Power:

Fluorinated solvents have strong solvency power, meaning they can dissolve a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds. This property

makes them effective in applications such as cleaning, degreasing, and precision cleaning, where the complete removal of contaminants is crucial, such as cleaning to oxygen standard.

Nonflammability:

One of the significant advantages of fluorinated solvents is their nonflammable nature. Under testing to ASTM D 93 they will not flash and therefore do not support combustion, making them safer to use compared to many traditional solvents. This property reduces the risk of fire hazards in various industrial processes and applications.

Dielectric Properties:

Fluorinated solvents have excellent dielectric properties, making them ideal for applications that require electrical insulation and heat transfer. They are commonly used in electronic and electrical industries for tasks such as cleaning electrical components, cooling electronics, and as a dielectric fluid in transformers and capacitors.

Thermal Stability:

Fluorinated solvents can withstand a wide range of temperatures without decomposing or losing their properties. This thermal stability allows them to be used in high-

temperature applications, including heat transfer fluids, lubricants, and as coolants in various industrial processes.

Surface Tension Control:

Fluorinated solvents have the ability to modify the surface tension of liquids, enabling them to spread evenly and improve wetting. This property makes them useful in applications such as coatings, adhesives, and printing, where uniform and controlled wetting is required.

Zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and very low Global Warming Potential (GWP) solvent cleaner for high performance vapour degreasing

ProSolv®5408e has been developed to provide superior critical cleaning performance.

High Solvency (KB Value 98) for removal of organic residues, compatible with organic and synthetic oils and most plastics and metals.

ProSolv®5408e is a high-performance solvent cleaner used for sustainable and future proof vapour degreasing. It has a GWP of < 1, with a 100 year Integrated Time Horizon (ITH).

ProSolv®5408e ticks all the boxes and is the perfect profile for a modern vapour degreasing solvent. Exceptionally low surface tension to penetrate micron sized holes and close contact surfaces. Sustainable and secure for the future. Non-carcinogenic, low boiling point, economical with energy with low solvent losses, faster production, reduced costs, easy handling. Soft on the environment and safe for users, it offers improved cleaning at lower costs.

Keeping Gema Customers Ahead of the Competition

Gema UK are at the forefront in developing a raft of innovations to support autonomous powder coating operations.

Our latest Dynamic Contour solution detects the object profile fully and positions the guns individually even for thin objects and at high conveyor speeds. Due to the programming-free adaption of all relevant line settings the application range is significantly extended.

The Dynamic Contour Detection solution is seamlessly integrated into the master control MagicControl 4.0, which automatically translates object shapes into optimized gun positions, matches the coating parameters and adjusts multiple gun axes to achieve outstanding coating results on complex geometries.

In 2022, North East based engineering company Hydram, a leading specialist in precision sheet metal fabrications, has recently completed a significant programme of investments in an attempt to satisfy increasing demand from its customers. Hydram is one of the first UK customers to invest in the latest iteration of Gema’s full Contouring part detection technology.

Hydram’s customers cover a broad range of industries and meeting increasing demand presents challenges at the best of times, and currently, those challenges have multiplied and intensified, with both constrained labour and spiralling energy markets conspiring to make the task particularly difficult throughout the supply chain. Responsibility for overcoming market challenges and navigating through the current headwinds lies with Hydram’s Operations Director, Stephen Beacham.

Increasing the Tempo

“Over 45 years Hydram has always maintained a steady rhythm of investment and renewal to ensure

we remain competitive and have capacity to grow with our customers,” says Stephen, “although there are times when you have to increase the tempo and do something exceptional to make the difference.” The difference in this case was a huge increase in the company’s powder coating and finishing capacity.

Hydram’s extensive capabilities range from laser cutting and punch profiling through to forming, welding, coating (both wet and powder painting) and assembly. “Analysis proved that our most significant bottleneck was in painting, which is an area where floorspace and energy use are significant constraints,” Stephen explains, “which together made this a significant project to undertake, entailing a great deal of planning and preparation, and two new paint plants, a batch line and a volume production line, with a budget of over £1.2M.”

Increased Automation

A bespoke-designed batch line allows Hydram to optimise the low volume, highly variable parts with great flexibility in a compact footprint. The second line is a large, highly automated conveyorized line installed over a 6-week period. The plant has a 145m overhead conveyor capable of processing a full range of components,

from flat parts to complex geometries, with high throughput capability. Pre-treatment is handled by a 20m-long five-stage plant with eco-friendly nano-ceramic multi-metal pre-treatment solution, coupled with a 15m-long dry-off oven. The automated process is supported by a fast colour change booth, provided by market leader Gema Europe.

The booth selected is the MagicCompact system with 2nd generation dynamic contouring guns, high efficiency powder reclamation and the recently launched GemaConnect cloud-based monitoring system. A 38m-long curing oven completes the plant and it is fitted with heat-recovery equipment.

Neil Snowdon, Production Manager at Hydram went on to explain “When selecting the suppliers for our new powder coating system, we carried out a detailed market study with visits to several manufacturing sites across the UK. In relation to the powder booth, with the new innovations from Gema, it was clear that these new to market technologies would move our capabilities to a new level. The benefits

of the dynamic contouring application guns that track the product geometries in real time are clear (pictured left). This revolutionises the level of automation and, combined with the SIT dense phase pumps, the powder coverage and consistency of application is on a new level. The booth is extremely quiet and offers a clean working environment with reduced

carbon footprint thanks to its compressed air and energy optimisation systems.”

“The new conveyor plant was commissioned in July 2022 and it sits next to our two other conveyor plants,” Stephen says. “It has a higher throughput than our oldest plant, has more automation, a powder reclaim unit – which reduces the amount of powder wasted. Overall, we have increased capacity by more than 50%, with the benefits of reduced labour requirements and increased energy efficiency, which are our two other constraints.” Now, with three conveyor paint plants for powder coating and a separate batch plant for wet and

powder coating, Hydram has impressive capacity for metal coating and can rightly claim to offer a complete manufacturing solution.

Maintaining the Rhythm

With the bottleneck in painting alleviated thanks to the £1.2M budget, the underlying rhythm of investment involved in maintaining Hydram’s capacity continued to be addressed in other processing areas in the factory.

Stephen concludes, “Our business is built on customer satisfaction – and maintaining a high level of service in the current climate is challenging for all businesses in this sector. We can prove that Hydram is working exceptionally hard and investing significant sums to continue meeting demand.”

Leon Hogg, Gema UK’s General Manager explained ‘It was clear during the evaluation stages that the team at Hydram were keen to invest in the very latest innovations that deliver quality and performance benefits to existing and future customers. With the high demand for quality, repeatability and efficiency we quickly arrived at the Magic Compact fast colour change booth complete with contouring, a system that provided the perfect strategic fit when it comes to matching the level of performance and efficiency Neil Snowdon and his team were looking for. This investment in the very latest technology puts Hydram at the forefront of premium finished products. indicator and countdown timer display fitted above the 3 leaf, large vision panelled doors, the booth operating mode and count down timer is easily visible across any workshop.

The factory-built air handling unit incorporates the fans, dampers and pilotless burner into a single unit, enabling a fast installation and unrivalled levels of reliability. Access to the plant for maintenance is gained from inside the EQ booth. This allows for corner positioning within the workshop with no side or rear access required. This space saving design helps maximise usable floorspace and is a major benefit for clients with limited room.

With rear extraction as standard, there is no requirement for a pit. However, if you prefer, the Dalby EQ can also be supplied with downdraft air movement via pit extraction or with an internally ramped raised floor.

The ‘Pro Active’ control system constantly monitors the activity within the spray booth and automatically adjusts airflow, temperature and lighting to optimise overspray clearance and bake performance as efficiently as possible.

The control system allows the booth to operate in Performance, Smart and Economy modes. Saving energy and money for our customers

By providing testing solutions that empower our customers to make more sustainable choices, we’re able to offer tools that allow our customers to save money while also protecting the planet. And that’s exactly what the temperature data-logger for the TQC Sheen CurveX solution has enabled one of our customers to do.

Take a look at how we helped one of our customers – an AI profile manufacturer – to significantly reduce their energy consumption so that they were only using a third of energy! Saving energy, saving resource, and saving money while ensuring the quality of surfaces

How does the TQC Sheen CurveX Temperature Data Logger work?

Put simply, the TQC Sheen CurveX Temperate Data Logger offers invaluable insights into the efficiency of industrial ovens – giving you better information than ever regarding the drying time of your product.

This data is highly valuable – it allows manufacturers to drastically improve the production process and make smarter decisions.

By utilizing this smart tool, you can get accurate insights into how long a coated product has to stay in the oven or exactly what the temperature of the oven should be for your specific product – taking away all of the guess work.

The oven profiling information allows users to quantify the energy required in the curing reaction of their products –understanding the oven efficiency and curing reaction time can massively shift your operations. This tool also works in conjunction with the TQC Sheen Ideal Finish Software – allowing you to simulate changes or analyze the cure data to ensure the right changes are being applied.

How does this benefit production processes?

Previously, many customers were having to make educated guesses as to these parameters for productions –

and for many, this can be extremely costly.

Take one of our customers – before they used our logger, they were using three times the amount of energy! And the personnel costs associated with using more manpower were also significant.

Now, thanks to our solution, they were able to make massive savings – not only does this have a huge impact on the environment, but also on the bottom line. With energy costs rising, having a solution in place to energy waste is at an all-time minimal could not be a more critical investment.

Learn more about this solution

It couldn’t be simpler – by getting access to better information, you can either lower the set temperature of the oven or increase the production speed. Both of these options will result in a much lower energy consumption per coated product. Plus, it can be used for the profiling of the washer dryer, IBO OBO and pin oven.

If you’d like to find out more about the new TQC Sheen CurveX Nano and our associated money and energy saving temperature data-loggers, why not get in touch? Our team would be happy to chat through the solution in more detail!

Optimising power supply improves quality and reduces cost

Upgrading to switch-mode rectifier technology gives you immediate energy savings. But there’s still more you can do to save time and money by cutting back on hidden costs and wasted materials.

Did you know that current control optimises quality and performance?

If you’re using voltage control, you’ll know that the current density varies with the resistance in the plating bath, resulting in variable quality plating and increased plating time. It’s unpredictable. Too much ion transfer can also cause secondary reactions and resistance in the circuit, which is inefficient and can also burn the parts you are plating. And if you’ve seen current go down during a batch, that’s because voltage control is passive when the resistance in the circuit increases.

There is an alternative. Using current control, you can control the process and ion transfer by securing a constant current density throughout. Current control saves time and optimises quality by making the plating process faster and more consistent. Which has to be good for your energy bills, as well as cutting wasted materials and the labour cost of reworking.

Discover the advantages of working with a modular rectifier

Every rectifier running at less than its rated output is losing efficiency. So ideally, you want one that suits your particular need. A modular design means you don’t need to have an oversized rectifier, simply choose the number of modules to match the output you’re looking for – and improve your energy consumption. Modularity also enables you to grow production or downsize it as needed, and makes installation, control and maintenance simple. You only need to carry a single spare power module for your entire range of rectifiers, regardless of size or manufacturing year – perfect for keeping your spares inventory costs and space to a minimum.

If the rectification circuit in a module fails (because it’s the part that is always working with high load) you don’t have to go in and repair it yourself unless you really want to - you can quickly

replace it with your spare, and send the one you’ve switched out back for repair. That’s one of the great things about a modular system – you don’t have to worry about interruptions to production. Even if you don’t replace the failed module, the rectifier will keep on working (just with reduced output), so your production line doesn’t need to stop.

By improving current quality and how its applied to your specific processes, you can consistently deliver optimal product quality –helping you to become more profitable and more competitive.

As DC power supply specialists, KraftPowercon’s team understand the ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’ of metal plating. Which means they can work with you to design and implement the most economical and efficient way to power your production.

Datalec approached Metavate Ltd to explore options to bring its powder coating facility ‘in-house’

From a standing start in 2012, Datalec Precision Installations (DPI) has grown into a substantial business delivering high quality and cost-effective design, supply, installation, commissioning and managed services to the demanding data centre sector.

Constantly in the pursuit of perfection, Datalec is always looking at ways to better service its customers and is continuously innovating, improving and developing its portfolio. The result is a ‘one call, one team’ solution for its customers that is designed to deliver a seamless and integrated end-to-end result.

Datalec approached innovative pretreatment technology providers Metavate Ltd, along with other suppliers, to explore the options to bring its powder coating facility ‘in-house’ as part of their continuous improvement strategy.

Their brief included a focus on overall sustainability, scalable platform, quality, reliability and process repeatability combined with the lowest running costs.

Datalec commissioned a brand new in-line spray tunnel using Metavate’s patented PlaforizationTM pretreatment technology to deliver high level corrosion-protection whilst reducing energy consumption, emissions, water usage and production of waste materials.

Spraying at ambient temperature with no water rinse has reduced Datalec’s carbon footprint by over 90% in comparison to choosing a heated phosphating system.

With radically rising energy costs Metavate customers are saving on average over £65,000 a year by switching from costly heated phosphate systems.

Delivered early in 2023, the new system is enhancing Datalec’s portfolio by providing quality products and bringing this service in-house, routinely achieving over 1000 hours in salt spray corrosion protection

Brian Alexander, Quality Manager at Datalec, has shared his thoughts on the new system.

The plant has been fully operational for only a few months but has already proven to be a great investment for us. Our powder coating facility is highly sustainable, efficient and enables us to responsively deliver results to the same exacting standards and quality assurance we are already known for.

Metavate offers a range of different PlaforizationTM products which address every type of pretreatment

requirement for individual customers from air-dry products for dip systems, through to products for batch processors and in-line spray tunnels.

A system with no water, heat, sludge and Volatile organic compounds (VOC) allows Datalec to make significant energy savings.

QUALICOAT Leading the Way in Architectural Coating Technology

The QUALICOAT Specification is unique and it can be confusing to understand exactly what it is? It is not a national standard, such as a British Standard or an ISO and it does not fall under any country or specification body. What it is, is a freely available global specification, updated in real time, produced by members of the QUALICOAT Association.

A Specification produced by QUALICOAT Members, who include powder coaters, pretreatment suppliers and powder manufacturers, may seem to suggest that the lowest specification is adopted by members, but that could not be further from the truth. With several Working Groups, made up of members from various countries, work is undertaken to review new technology and research ways to

improve coating technology. As soon as new methodologies are proven, they are immediately added to the QUALICOAT Specification by way of update sheets and include implementation dates. At the end of each year published update sheets are incorporated into a new Specification. To ensure that the Specification is open to all specifiers, it is free to download the Specification and any update sheets from qualicoat. net.

Unlike many standards, a QUALICOAT Specification comes with third party accreditation. All Members of QUALICOAT, which include powder coaters, pretreatment suppliers and powder manufacturers agree to allow an independent test house, nominated by QUALICOAT, to undertake unannounced inspections of their plant and processes. The intention of these inspections is to ensure that the current

Specification is being followed demonstrating compliance, the Member is then licensed to supply QUALICOAT approved products and coatings. Members who fail to demonstrate full compliance are reinspected and can lose their licence as a result of further non-compliance being reported.

One of the most recent developments within the Association is the launch of QUALICOAT 3.0. Part of a licence holders responsibility is the provision of regular coated samples for extended ‘acetic salt spray’ and in some cases ‘filiform corrosion’ testing at the appointed test house, in the case of QUALICOAT UK & Ireland, this is at IFO Netherlands BV. In a very small number of these test samples it was noticed that premature failure could occur following these very corrosive and accelerated tests. With the cause of the issue unknown, QUALICOAT set up a Working Group of Members to try to identify what was causing the issue and how this could be eliminated to further enhance powder coating durability.

It became obvious during research that the aluminium alloy itself was the contributing factor, so the Working Group began to develop a specification for the alloys used in fenestration, namely alloy 6060 and

106 SHOW GUIDE 2023 QUALICOAT UK & IRELAND
WE’RE AT SURFACE WORLD MEET US ON STAND A20

6063. The resulting alloy specification, which now forms Appendix A13 of the QUALICOAT Specifications 2023, requires the alloys to fall within the EN573-3:2019 Standard, which can be met using primary or secondary (recycled) aluminium and requires the following three tests to be carried out, Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), Anodic Cyclic Polarisation (ACP) and Metallographic Study for Aluminium.

All requirements of these tests need to be undertaken and passed by an independent test house before an approval is awarded. By ensuring that the alloy is of the correct standard, with reduced inclusions and improved grain consistency, it has been demonstrated by QUALICOAT that architectural powder coat finishes can be further enhanced for sustainability, especially when used with Class 2 powders (super-durable) and Class 3 powders (hyper-durable)

Appendix A13 of the QUALICOAT Specifications is now aimed at specifiers who have large facade

projects and wish to take advantage of the additional protection that comes from a ‘QUALICOAT 3.0’ Specification. Whilst the current QUALICOAT supply chain includes powder manufacturers, pretreatment systems providers and architectural powder coaters, QUALICOAT 3.0 introduces for the first time the aluminium extruders into the QUALICOAT powder coating supply chain.

Specifiers who wish to take advantage of QUALICOAT 3.0 should in the first instance contact QUALICOAT UK & Ireland for guidance on specification

and help in choosing the correct supply chain.

The current QUALICOAT Specification is freely available for download via the Association’s website, qualicoatuki.org and offers an up-to-date list of licensed UK and Ireland Powder Suppliers, Pretreatment Suppliers and Applicators. Telephone support is available from QUALICOAT UK & Ireland Head Office in Birmingham on 0330 236 2800, the Association can also be followed on Twitter @Qualicoatuki.

US ON STAND K10

Capital InvestmentA threat or an opportunity?

The intuitive answer is that most enterprises would view a capital investment as an opportunity and that of course is what it should turn out to be if all goes as planned. The opportunity to increase output, reduce unit costs and ensure consistent levels of product quality. These are the primary reasons on which returns on investment are projected and expenditure justified. However, in the background lies a latent threat to the business if the project is not completed and put to work on time and on budget. It is likely that future commitments have been made to supply product to meet key customer demand and if this cannot be properly satisfied the consequences to both the financial and reputational standing of the business can be serious.

So potentially there is a lot at stake, on the one hand the bright profitable future envisaged when the decision to invest was made and on the other the potentially serious consequences of the project reality not living up to expectations. In all projects it is worthwhile to carry out the classic SWOT analysis, many will be familiar with this technique when comparing their products with those of their competitors but perhaps not so familiar in this application. At Plating Line Advice, we believe it is also a useful technique when assessing key project decisions and especially when comparing possible suppliers of capital equipment.

What is a SWOT analysis?

SWOT is an acronym that stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. A SWOT analysis would be used by project teams during strategic planning to identify what their project is doing well, where it can improve, what are the risks and how it fits in the

investment landscape. It can also be applied with great effect at the supplier selection level.

Components of a SWOT analysis

Strengths

Strengths are an assessment of the project’s or supplier’s attributes that give it an advantage over other alternatives.

Opportunities

Opportunities are usually dependent on the success of the project and can range from supplying to new markets, improving quality, cost reduction etc. often driven by unmet customer needs that the business has identified.

Weaknesses

The weaknesses component of the SWOT analysis is an assessment of the project’s or supplier’s attributes that put it at a disadvantage when compared to alternatives. For example,

a weakness that could be a key consideration is a lack of previous experience in the realisation of specialised turnkey projects or weak financial ratings.

Threats

Threats are typically factors impacting the project or supplier. These factors can be anything ranging from limitations of available resource to emerging technology. Ultimately, these threats are the obstacles facing the business and what could adversely affect the project outcome.

The benefits of carrying out the SWOT are summarised by the saying

“Forewarned is forearmed” which dates back in Britain to at least 1592 and means “prior knowledge of possible dangers or problems gives one a tactical advantage”.

The conclusion being, that to ensure the opportunity presented by the decision to invest is realised to its full potential the possible risks should be identified in advance and steps taken to eliminate them or at least mitigate their impact.

This philosophy is at the heart of our approach, bringing to bear 45 years’ experience of project realisation with the objective on ensuring “a happy landing every time” for your project.

With an estimated 30% rise in gas prices, can your company afford not to switch to our ambient, one stage pretreatment technology?

Our ambient temperature one stage processing system requires no heating and therefore no gas.

Additional benefits when switching include: better corrosion protection, savings in water, and savings in extra labour costs.

Customers who switch from their standard three stage phosphating plant to our innovative one stage Toran 3 technology reduce their overall costs by 23% annually.

Contact Metavate to help your business move forward.
