There’s nothing new or remarkable about spring snow in Colorado, but the storm that hit from March 13-15 was historic, dropping feet of heavy, wet snow on the states of Colorado and Wyoming. By Sunday, March 14 at 11 p.m., 25 inches of new snow had fallen at Bear Lake, located on the east side of Rocky Mountain Na onal Park. Snow totals in Grand Lake, the gateway to the west entrance of Rocky Mountain Na onal Park, were just 5.8 inches, illustra ng the difference between the two sides of the Con nental Divide and the effects of this upslope storm. As of this wri ng, Park snowplow operators have been tackling snow and high wind gusts on the east side of the park causing major dri ing on roadways.
